    Maybe you should get in contact with bambulab and tell them about your idea... Maybe they'll see the potential and implement it

    prusaslicer can emboss with svg and you can add modifiers to just the area the svg cover, i imagine it wouldnt be too hard for them to allow different filaments? (maybe it is there already)

      @@jeantormes8918 I did see a way you could create a model from svg with Prusa, but I never found one where you could place them on a corner or curved surface with ease. If anyone would have it , it would be Prusa 😇

    I feel like this is a really niche thing and I don’t fully understand why you would want to do something like that in a slicer. But if you wanted to, couldn’t you just make a small (negligeable) cut into the side, enough to create a different face, but the slicer would ignore it and print it at the same point. (Idk, or just manually paint the the logo on in the slicer)

      I would argue that this has a little more than niche appeal. Especially if you could use it to write names, numbers, words or place patterns easier on your model. And you are correct, you absolutely can make a cut in the side of the model and fill it with color. But like I said in the video, that takes a new custom model each time and so many 3D users don’t know tools like blender to do that in.

      @@3D.PrintMyRide idk, personally I don’t understand why people want complex color prints, (my background is robotics and so every I know uses their printer for prototyping and practical implications), but especially if you want something easy like numbers on names, that is built into prisa slicer (like you showed) but for more complex things, onshape is free and does it all on a browser so setup doesn't take too long and has a feature where you can import a dxf onto your model.

      Also 3D printers are machines, and as much as it is nice to have them so open on the consumer market, they are machines and 3D modeling (I think) should just be part of learning to use your machine, so I don’t think they need to load their softwares with tools that don’t relate to slicing, modeling is what CAD and modeling softwares are for. And if new users don’t know how to use the software then they should learn how to use the softwares (like I said onshape is free and browser based, and super simple to use, with a free course to learn how to use it).

      Not sure I agree with ignoring the appeal of something being easier. I don’t think there is a virtue in something being hard just because that’s what others had to do. Things opening up to consumers also increases funding for more expert applications. Think about graphics cards. They used to be incredibly niche, but now they are consumer available and therefore receive more funding. I’d hate to be using the command prompt when an easier interface is available and more accessible.

      @@3D.PrintMyRide I agree, things should be simpler and easier, but what I'm trying to say is that I don't think that the slicer should be the one with the function, if you're adding something to a model it should be done in the modeling software. The slicer slices, I don't believe that it should also be a modeling software.

    can't you draw on 3d model in bambu slicer?

    • @oneletterlon
      @oneletterlon 2 месяца назад +3

      Yes, but he’s saying that he want to import a drawing (like a logo) onto the model, not hand draw. (If you were going to paint it on the slicer, just do one color and paint the model one it’s done)
