      @@aliensporebombthats the point. I mean his fingers only go in two positions but his hand moves along the neck.
      When asked "I don't see what you're doing" he replies "no one does" watch the video again to hear it.
      The answer you're looking for to become a better guitarist is not what he does to practice, its what you do and how you do it

    Its an exercise called, "the Diminshed chord relay. "it involves playing seven diminished chords in rapid succession up and down the fretboard..."
    A book compilation of 41 exercises that were featured in Guitar magazine. This exercise is featured in the September 1987 edition of Guitar and is called Smart Fingers.
    Good luck 🤘🎸
    See Joe Satriani Guitar Secrets, 1993, Cherry Lane Music Company. Distributed by Hal Leonard Publishing Corp.

    • @jeanrepetto
      @jeanrepetto 10 месяцев назад +17

      right on for the info i know you didn´t write the article but i was thinkin …wouldn´t there be 21 dim 7th chord in the relay?…being that there are 3 different types of dim 7th chords before the notes repeat in one of the 4 different inversions with 3 unique starting points(6th,5th & 4th strings) that when played in succession will repeat for the next 2 chords within any of the 3 unique starting points for a dim 7tth will give you 21 unique versions of the dim 7th chords for the relay

    • @erikpaterson1404
      @erikpaterson1404 10 месяцев назад +13

      @jeanrepetto I think you're right, Satriani does say that the exercise should be experimented with. So if using inversions you'll get more positions and starting points.
      Also, try this exercise strumming and arpeggiation

      @SirEebRhawl 10 месяцев назад

      @@Nissardpertugiu Learn how to read. English is not my first language either, so I sympathize, but you're reacting to points I haven't even made.
      Firstly, my comment doesn't say that Kirk has no writing credit for a handful of great songs. It states a simple fact: James Hetfield's songwriting is what makes Metallica what it is, not Kirk technical abilities (which aren't that great... that's not a controversial statement, any metal guitar player worth his salt would agree, and in any case, he's not even better than Dave Mustaine).
      Secondly, I specifically said that skill doesn't equate to monetary success. Whether any of those bands are broke or successful says nothing about their level of talent either way.
      If you disagree I'm willing to hear the argument, but don't mischaracterize what I say like an amateur.
