* Version 2.0 fixed some of the awkward timings between some lines. Also changed one camera angle to avoid seeing the unfinished lip syncing for one line and replaced the odd "Uh-huh" line with "Thanks".*
This mod restores (mostly) the full final conversation with Anderson that was severely shortened in the released game.
This mod requires the Extended Cut DLC to function.
This mod installs by adding itself as DLC. No game data files are overwritten***. There is no separate uninstaller; to uninstall simply delete the folder "DLC_CON_ExtAnd" from the ME3 DLC folder.
***This does install WarrantyVoider's DLL patch which is required for the game to not reject the added DLC. It is placed in the ME3 Binaries folder (where MassEffect3.exe is located).
As with all mods to this game, make sure you turn OFF automatic updating of games in your Origin settings. Otherwise, Origin will "fix" the modified files by overwriting them with the originals.
Thanks to WarrantyVoider for creating ME3Explorer without which this (and most other mods) would not exist.
You can feel the regret Anderson has and how he's casting it onto Shepard, practically begging him not to wind up the same old battered warhorse he sees himself as. Encouraging him to make a life for himself outside of war and conflict
That's why it sucks they cut it. A little self reflection in this moment is fitting; it's not like they're in a hurry to do anything at the moment anyway, they've consigned themselves to death after succeeding. I mean it's not like Hackett is going to call them over the radio 20 seconds after the crucible docks, it may take a few minutes for them to realize nothing's happening.
The Wanderer after hearing this just makes me sad because of Shepard and liara
Just like Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid 4) and Colonel Miller (Metro Exodus)
I think…I think Anderson doesn’t give himself enough credit,
Without the life he had…we wouldn’t have met an amazing man, and a courageous leader. He saved so many, MANY lives.
And gave humanity a great hero, Shepard.
2:25
Rest well Anderson…
I feel this scene really showcases how much these two have been through and how close they are. As I personally saw Anderson as a father figure for shepherd. I also feel this exchange adds to the tragedy that neither of them will make it out of here, and the life Anderson wishes he has, and the regrets shepherd feels. And I feel it makes the moment Anderson slips away more sad and tragic.
Shepard survives
@@ironstrong3431 He only survives in the worst ending, and his consciousness survives in the second best
My Shepard was earthborn, so basically Anderson was the father he never had.
@@Byzantine_Orthodox_Christian he survives in the best destroy ending*
@@shell2791 Destroy is the worst your basically killing off trillions of races because of ignorance
Synthesis is the best followed by control
At least Mark Meers and Jennifer Hales children can say their dad/mom is commander shepard :P
Hopefully, this conversation can be added into the ME Trilogy Remaster.
Yeah here's hoping. The reason it got removed to begin with is because Anderson having a son was briefly mentioned once... but this scene really deserves to be in the game so they should just remove that mention of his son entirely
It wasn't.
@@matthewm5581 unfortunately :(
@@NostalgicSith I think mods will be pretty easy to port, considering it’s all the same file structure
@@bluegoose7832 literally all they’d have to do is change the one line. “I had a family, but we grew apart. It was unfair to them. To my sons.” That’s all it would take.
This could have been the ending. Credits could have immediately rolled and i would have been happy. Its a wonderful capstone to the journey.
Plus Anderson going up top and (no starchild attached) doing Destroy? Can't leave stuff hanging.
Welcome to happy ending mod ;)
Keith David was born to play Anderson when he said he is proud of Shepherd brought a tear to my eye best scene next to Tali's final goodbye (if you brought her with you and romanced her)
Man, why did they cut this? This is awesome!
Possibly to get you to buy a new copy
So from what I had gathered, it went against some of the canon. As Anderson has an estranged son. But fuck me, I wish this scene made the cut.
Alan Hawke does canon mean die off
@@Breenbean-m1f Nah, canon is previously established lore in a series.
On one of the Shadow Broker's terminals in ME2, it shows that Anderson has an estranged son and wife. As a result, his line here about never having a family... doesn't work as well.
@@AlanHawke They could have just have him say "You know i had a son, Shepard. I wasn't a great father, i wasn't there for him" "Well, you might have not been there for him, but you were there for me. I couldn't have made it here without you. Your family would be proud of you, you helped save the galaxy" "Thank you Shepard. I bet you would have been a great dad" "Think how proud your kids would be" and then continue with the dialogue as it is here. Problem solved. In fact that way it fits even better because that would still connect the dialogue with the last line about Anderson being proud of Shepard.
If the reason this was cut because Anderson said he didn't have any family, then they could play it off as if Anderson had accepted the reality that his actions and dedications to the military life had drove his family away from him to the point that they no longer see him as part of the family. Tragic, sure. But, that makes Anderson's dying wish for Shepard to have some sort of life after this, hits even harder. He wants Shepard to lived the life he missed instead of repeating the same mistakes he made.
damm this makes me tear up..love Anderson and Shepard's relationship
Can’t both be true? Shepherd has dreams of his friends turning to ash just like the scientist in the logs in the Arrival DLC. Also Shepherd can be controlled to shoot Anderson by the Illusive Man, whose completely controlled by the reapers, so why would Shepherd be immune. It’s fits sadly better than some of the canon.
I used to play earthborn war hero Shepard who never knew his/her parents and Anderson is his/her father figure even at most heartless and villainous I can't disrespect him
this scene has to be the end, not the bullshit that continue
This adds much more emotion and makes the scene much more powerful. They shouldn't of cut this in the first place. Too bad they didn't add this in the Extended Cut.
"not everything I've done is something to be proud of"-the understatement of the century for renegade Shepard :-)
I think Shepard is refeering to blowing up the Bahak system in Arrival
@@vasyear my colonist Shep rather enjoyed that :-) he'll gladly take any opportunity to kill a batarian
Made me tear up the first time I played with this on. My Shepard grew up on Earth as a orphan and to have have Anderson tell her "You did good, child. You did good. I'm proud of you." who feels like a father she never had almost made me cry.
Oh my god, why did they cut that...
Translation : I will certainly install this mod for my next playthrough !
Not sure why they did it. Anderson may have been married at one point, but he and his wife never had kids before they divorced, so there's no continuity issue. Strange indeed...
@@mplumley95 Such dialogue only makes it clear that everything after the run to the beam was a hallucination/indoctrination attempt as Anderson DOES have a Son as revealed in the books & in the Citadel DLC where one of his audio logs mentions him graduating from Engineering school.
@@homero152 the indoctrination theory is a bad attempt to hand wave away BioWare dropped the mother of all balls on the ME3 ending.
When he said son.. he meant it
This is by far the saddest moment in this triology
It's quite a view.
Best seats in the house.
- I have a son you know?
- Really?
- Yeah, he probably hates me now even though he doesn't know the truth. He's in military back on earth, I hope he's doing well.
- He is, he's your son, will be fine.
- Yeah... I should've told him.
[first choice]
- Yeah, you should've.
[second choice]
- He knows, deep inside.
- Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that he hates me.
[first choice]
- That's because he doesn't know the truth, how hard it was for you to leave him behind.
[second choice]
- No Anderson, he loves you, more than anything else.
- Thanks Shepard... Shepard?
- Yeah?
- It wasn't a difficult choice that I made. It was bad one. Shepard! Don't make a bad choice.
- Will do Anderson. Anderson?
1:57 Idk why but seeing the light shine on Anderson's face as he says this brings a tear to my eye
I'd swear this was in the game at some point. I was waiting for him to talk about the kids thing, and before I knew it he died..I'm like didn't he have more dialogue?? I'm not sure why they took it out, it was a good conversation before he died.
God I hope they add this back into the Legendary Edition, the whole conversation feels more impactful with it
They didn't unfortunately :(
Even a ruthless and violent renegade Shepard knows with pity and regret that there is no place for him except a military and there are things he definitely is not proud of.
This makes the scene three times sadder. Knowing Anderson has no family or anyone waiting for him.
This would have been great if left in. Shepard could have said about starting one with who ever his/her love interest is. Would have had very unique dialog options there.
As a 30 year old single male with no prospects, the line "I think that Ship has Sailed"
HITS ME RIGHT IN DEM FEELZ
I wouldn't worry about it. As a man your attractiveness to women as a prospective father/provider only increases with age, especially if you're successful.
Just focus on your financial stability, keep fit and healthy and be open to a relationship and it will definitely happen :)
Hits you right in the feels.
This randomly just popped in my head. Damn, this scene is so sad. Conversation like these is what made me love ME3. The ending may not be the best, but the journey was amazing.
This conversation even hits harder if the first two Mass Effect novel. You’ll have a better understanding of Anderson’s mindset.
I'm not crying I'm not crying 😭
i hope this will be left in the ME legendary edition
Feels like there should be another line after "Not everything I've done ...". Maybe that's part of why they cut it?
There is another line. It's supposed to be Anderson saying that _he's_ proud of Shepard, moved from where it is in the original cut. The fem!Shep version that's around somewhere includes it.
“I never had a family Shepard, never had children” You’re more of a Father than you cared to know 🫡
goddammit, i came here to cry and that's what i did!
this is beauitful
The only way I can appreciate this if in my mind, is that Shepard slowly and quietly dies next to Anderson, watching the crucible fire.
The moment I see Shepard rise up on that platform, I just have to turn the game off because it's so stupid to me.
Best seats in the house
Is this included or compatible with ME3 Recalibrated?
It is not included with ME3Re but it is compatible.
Too bad about the dialogue about having a family,
It fits with the destroy ending with shep living
(and with Tali as LI personally)
It's funny because I always felt like Shepherd would love being a dad. That really depends on his LI really. Unfortunately for Miranda for example, she can't birth children. So they'd need to adopt a child. For Tali, Liara, Jack (not completely sure), they all can have children. Especially Liara and Tali.
WHY THE HELL DID THEY CUT THIS DIALOGUE
Too bad this isn't in the Legendary Edition
unfortunately the best mods aren't.... I'd love to play ME3 with the YCM, MEHEM and this mod.
Bye and thanks for the dope crib.
So sad!
Isn't this the ending if you don't romance anyone
if i am not wrong this happens if you don't romance any character up to ME3.
I think they cut it because it just didn't feel like it fit. Anderson is dying, Shepard is close to dying, but they sound as though they are fine and are able to have a full-blown conversation. It just doesn't feel right.
I disagree, without it he dies extremely fast. A little reflection before he dies is fitting.
It feels that way with how blandly Mark Meers delivers his lines, but Jennifer Hale and Keith David both sounded like they were exchanging some heartfelt last words before dying IMO.
@Journey 95 82% of all players play with Male Commander Shepard according to statistics. Screw those FemShep skirt chasing simps.
@@dev.1359 just admit you like playing as a woman, the VA is fine
@@sergeontheloose yep, the weird "I don't want to be staring at a guy's ass" crowd
Already a horrible franchise crushing ending and they decided to shorten it further by cutting this dialogue?
nothing was crushed, the Trilogy is still amazing even with that ending
Journey95 Far definitely, just because the ending didn’t match your expectations, doesn’t mean it’s a horrible franchise to begin with. The Trilogy is amazing regardless of what others say.
"horrible fanchise" -- said the fucking disgusting furry.
I see that everyone is disagreeing with you, it's called denial.
They cannot accept that this game has the worst ending in the histroy of videogames so they enter in Denial mode and start to offend everyone.
The ending is crap, just like Casey Hudson buttface.
As far as I am concerned, this is where the entire mass effect franchise ends. The ending they pushed through was trash. It was so bad, I havent bought a bioware game since.
