Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He was 23 in this performance and is 28 now (only gotten better). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "SOS “ 2017, 2018 or 2021 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Ave Maria". @@jacquesmorency2278 Dimash listed only 12 languages on his youtube bio, probably because in the 13th language, spanish, he didn`t 'perform' a complete song, the spanish song listed on Wikipedia is "Besame mucho", for which he only sang a few lyrics, when he met Andrea Bocelli, and Bocelli asked to hear him sing.
The other languages are, as updated in 2022 : Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin, Italian, French, German, Serbian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Japanese. Although they should have added sicilian too, for "Brucia la terra". That would indeed round it up to 13 languages, without Spanish :)
Dimash only speaks 2 languages fluently, his native kazakh, and russian. He is still studying english and mandarin.
The 8 musical instruments are : piano, keyboards, dombra, drums, guitar, xylophone, marimba and bayan. People sometimes mention harp - but he only pinched it a bit for fun, during a rehearsal break ; and cello, but again, he only pinched the chords a bit in a commercial, with no sound :)
@@lovesyoutube8591 you are right, we can't update his Wikipedia without appropriate legit source references hence we can't list Spanish. As for musical instruments, I think we would had updated to many more (he's a genius and can play a tune in any foreign or new instruments handed to him by his Dears) but again, we need legit source. He did say he could play most of the instruments in an orchestra but we can't prove it 🙏
@@chinaubrey1135 Yes, word of mouth can go rampant sometimes :) I need to see a video of Dimash himself claiming he can play most of : Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double bass ; Woodwinds: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass clarinet, English Horn, Contrabassoon and Saxophone ; Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba - that would the instruments in an orchestra :) (and it`s not even the complete list :) )
Personally, I doubt Dimash ever bragged about anything. He has so much on his plate as it is, with his most favorite activity, which is singing, and participating in producing his own songs, and composing. He studied piano from a young age. He can also play the dombra well, even though he didn`t study it in a school. Aside from that, he is self-taught in other instruments, but doesn`t spend time training in those instruments, and, since he respects and knows the value of training, he won`t brag or list a bunch of instruments he only played with sometimes, when there are instrumentalists out there training every day since they were 5 years old.
For spanish, here`s instance mentioned by wikipedia : ruclips.net/video/lOMlzOsbhck/видео.html - but the point remains, he only sang a couple of lyrics in spanish, and that doesn`t fit the statement that "he performed a song" in spanish.
His vocal range, his vocal technique control, and most of all, his relentless vocal training and unique artistic choices in his singing, are what makes him an exceptional artist, and unique in our hearts. He doesn`t have to be a genius in everything, from baking, to fixing cars, to rocking an electric violin and a saxophone, to deserve the respect of the musical world, and the love of his fans :)

you have just discovered the legend called DIMASH; I know the feeling I discovered him 5+ years back and was blown away as he did a song I thought I had heard performed by the best but he took it to a higher level; his performance left me in shock. Have been listening to him daily since that time, he has hundreds of songs and some covers that are just too fantastic to describe. He is the best i have ever heard in my lifetime and is on a level above all the rest. He is a genre bender which means he does songs in most all genres of music we are familiar with, and does them to an excellent level none others have accomplished. He has so many talents , u have to journey with him thru a few performances to get a feel what he is about and each one will be a new experience.
But, u are right he is not in awe of himself and is a genuine great human being also.

Loved the reaction video :) To be accurate, the competition was not "The Voice", it was "I am a Singer", a competition for *professional* , established chinese singers. Dimash was invited to compete as the only foreigner, as an experiment. He finished 2nd. The red-suit host here is a bit clueless 😄 Dimash was also the youngest in that competition, 22 yo in 2017, against huge chinese stars. He did a great job, and won the hearts of millions, since the first episode where he sang his "calling card" song, his cover of the famous french song "SOS d`un terriene en détresse". The next day he needed bodyguards to walk the streets in China :) Aside from this little background - Dimash graduated in Classical (Bel Canto)> age 20, and Contemporary (Jazz,Pop)> age 24. Started vocal+piano school at age 5 > teachers noticed he has >absolute pitch
I prefer to guess that the host knew exactly what happened and was calling the Chinese on their BS of not allowing him to win because it would have embarrassed them and challenged their biases. Russia is next to China, so they have that same animosity that other adjacent and very different countries have.

The host is clueless in more than one department :) He didn`t even get the name of the song right, you can hear him calling it "Sinful Love" (Greshnaya lyubovʹ), and you can hear someone on the stage, a member of the A`Studio band who owns the song, correcting him : = . And the host got the name of the song wrong on a day *dedicated* to the band A`Studio 🤦 where many singers each performed a cover of one of their songs (including Dimash).
Also, the chinese had nothing against Dimash. Everybody on the show treated him very nicely, very professionally, and after the show they helped tremendously to kickstart his international career. They even built a recording studio just for him, equipped with the best technology - you can watch Dimash`s reaction when they presented the fact to him, as their birthday gift, during an entire show dedicated to his birthday : ruclips.net/video/6qAGRtecTeU/видео.html - shock and disbelief :)
All the competitors on "I am a Singer" competition were very good professional singers, Sandy Lam, the one who finished 1st place was too, and she was very loved by the public. Winning the public`s heart was just as important as the technical aspects. And Dimash managed to do both as well. He just had 2 episodes with a lower score, that affected a bit his final ranking. The level of performance in "I am a Singer" is usually high and acclaimed by critics and viewers. And the audience is the jury that votes.
Dimash cared the most that the audience would enjoy his performances, which they did, and he ended up with millions of chinese fans, that literally named a star in the Andromeda Galaxy after him :) I think he`s pretty happy with everything China did for him and his career, and I also believe that nobody cheated him.

Where you said it's like you need 30 years of intense training to get anywhere close...you aren't too far off. He's in his late 20's and has been practicing and studying music since he was a kid.

dunno, I think SOS is kinda overrated since for a lot of people it was his first song. It ain't bad, but at the same time his newer songs like Ikanaide show his improvements quite a bit

@@fischi9129 I agree. SOS was spectacular in 2017 but a bit less so now that we have seen what else he has produced. That being said, every Dimash reactor needs to react to at least one performance of SOS.

It was so fun watching you, you didn't know he could fly, did you?!😃 Dimash turned 28 this year but, as you said, he has studied music for at least 20 of those years. (Since he was 5 years old.) He is a trained opera singer and also studied pop and jazz. He has sung in about 13-15 languages and speaks three (Kazakh, Russian and he has recently learned English). He sings in many different genres (and voices!) and enjoys mixing them together to express the emotions of the songs he sings. Dimash Qudaibergen was born on May 24, 1994, in Aktobe, Kazakhstan into musical royalty. Height: 1.91m; 6' 3'. Grandfather played professional dombra, grandmother was a teacher and sings.

He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.

The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

He didn’t win the competion they say its because he wasn’t Chinese. But I don’t know if that’s right or not! They change the rules next year. But he got the most out of it and was most known after this. Got lots of awards and other things to. So he won the audience and the Chinese people.

Welcome to Dimash, best in the world. You have no idea what you are in for. What language do you want to hear him sing in? His native Kazakh? Russian, Ukrainian, English, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Turkish? He is fluent in only Kazakh and Russian but speaks English pretty darn good and a little Mandarin. He is very very humble. Try Stranger which is pretty recent and in English. He is a highly trained classical singer who can pretty much sing any genre he wants, as well as rap in Kazakh, dance here and there and play multiple instruments. The most outstanding artist of our time and in my opinion ever.
I recommend you check also his performance in Tokio Jazz Festival where he sang "Ikanaide" in japanese.
How? Because Dimash has the most incredible solid bases that no one ever has which is a combination of: perfect pitch, 6 octaves+ range, classical trained and educated, contemporary trained and educated, perfect breathe control, perfect pitch control, master in any registers, master in many genres, master in many singing techniques from growl to whistle, seemingly able to grasp the pitch of any languages, very in tune with multiple instruments, very in tune with musical composition, master of stage presence, superb mic technique, and more.

Dimash is a Ph.D music student and is the Jack of all trades and Master of all. Yes and He can rap too. He announced in his channel his first concert in his home country people of 35 countries already bought tickets The Dears are going to see him in Kazakhstan.
