I just had this fault with my 2017 VW Tiguan. I pulled all four speed sensors. Measure the resistance on each sensor. Three had the same value and one had half the value. Replaced the right rear sensor that showed the low value with a OEM sensor from VW for $160.00. The was cleared. Hope this helps you.
Thanks for this, it helped me confidentiality explain to my garage that I thought it was an issue with the wheel speed sensor, I didn’t realise the ABS sensor reads wheel speed, makes sense now I think about it, he thought it was the wheel bearings, I suggested they swap the sensors over, which is possible on my VW SV, they did and fault registered on changed position. New sensor fitted all faults cleared. Really helpful video thanks for taking the time
ABS signs pop up on my dashboard, the garage is suggesting it maybe the ABS pump without doing much checks. I will suggest checking the sensors. Hope to come back with feedback. Thanks

Good video. With modern cars it can be the sensor or something else triggering the sensor so technology can be a nightmare. In my old BMW e30 none of this carry on--if there is a problem with the brakes, they start to squeal until repaired.
Hi All, I had this fault the morning I was going on a short holiday. The fault code suggested the rear left abs sensor was faulty. I managed to buy the sensor and thought I could get it fitted when on holiday. Not so. I drove the car for about 350 miles with this fault. Eventually, back home fortunately, the car gave transmission problems(DSG). The car remained in 1st gear, occasionally it would change up using the paddles but it was undriveable. I changed the sensor myself, cleared the codes, and all is now well! So a duff abs sensor can screw up your transmission! regards, Brian.
I've had the same faults a week ago, the problem with my car was the right rear bearing of the wheel, especially the little ABS magnetic crown. It has multiple little ridges, which send a signal to the ABS sensor, but there was a piece of the crown missing, so i had to replace the whole bearing cuz they are welded together. It was not an expensive fix, only 100 euros/ little over 100 dollars.
My VW golf MK5 2007, same happened. Steering wheel sign, abs sign and traction control sign all came together and disappeared after 30 seconds. Same as yours. I was on the motorway and my heart nearly stopped.
My 2013 CC has a bad right speed sensor and all those errors came up but also had had a malfunction light for the afs head lights I watched your video to see if mine wasn’t the only one doing this

Gerard, great and very helpful video, thank you. My 2016 VW Passat has all lights lit, ABS, Airbag, Steering, Traction, etc., and the dealer yesterday told me BOTH rear wheel sensors are bad, AT THE SAME TIME (??) Does this make sense, that both would fail simultaneously? I did not go through any water puddles or any other unusual terrain, so how likely is it that they both failed? The car is exactly ONE month past the 36 month warranty! They are quoting $565 for the replacement of both. I thought I might bring it to a "shadetree mechanic" I know, buy the parts and save$ but unsure what to do. Could you possibly tell me whether it seems plausible that both sensors failed at once? Hi, ive got a 2010 golf, the following lights come on my dash randomly (and then disappear pretty quick): - parking brake - abs - electronic stability control - steering light Do you have any idea what the issue might be? My VW dealer cant seem to pinpoint the issue and want to charge me $2k to replace abs control module and steering column something... pls help
Take it to a trusted mechanic and ask him to check the trouble codes, if he finds an error code on speed/abs sensor, then its the sensor that needs replacing (common problem with VW). VWs system is made in such a funny way, that when a little sensor fails, everything that feeds from the module throws out a light (in my case it was all your lights + tire pressure light). Full abs module issues are possible but very rare, and if the dealer wants to replace steering components with it, I would be very suspicious ... Also, had the same problem with my passat (lights come on randomly, for random amounts of time) - it didn't show any fault codes at all when the lights weren't showing, so try to check them when the lights ARE showing (my mechanic and I we're puzzled why these kind of codes don't store in computers memory).
Any ideas on our situation? VW Touran 2012. In cold temp the car won't start at all and then is throwing up the ESC fault (no others). Mechanic checked yesterday and it had a throttle pedal fault? After that was cleared it ran fine until the next morning (cold overnight again) and still no start and ESC fault. Battery is fine. No clue what to do and my mechanic doesn't seem to know either
I have a VW Golf 7 2014 and after connecting the computer, it displays error B116816 steering angle sensor - too low voltage. Does the tape need to be replaced or is the problem somewhere else?
Great video which my scan tool is an obd11 it's giving me an issue pretty much with all the sensors. Is there like a control module for all of them? Appreciate the video!
Hi Gerard, would this issue also bring on limp mode? I say limp but pretty much stop mode really. ( VW Caddy 1.4 tsi 2016 ) Changed the actuator due to Turbo fault code, now getting water pump sensor high, throttle actuator sensor and throttle position sensor fault codes. All started with pretty much the same symptoms as in your vid. Any advise greatly appreciated please mate 👍
Great video, thanks. I have a fault on seat ibiza 2006,wherei get a 3 beep audible warning, lose speedo lose power steering, abs, power steering are on and brake light is flashing. I recently had a blow out of front passenger side tyre, destroying the rim and the tyre. I cannot see any obvious damage to wheel speed sensor, any ideas? kind regards Dave.
My problem is this, I have a 2006 2.0tdi passat, lights on dash are steering, Esc & power steering: Ive changed EPB switch and lights still on, went for a drive and parking brake operates as it should, same with steering and brakes.... any ides please Gerard.

So I have a 2014 VW Tiguan. I get ABS, Start Stop, bending lights, electronic break and tyre pressure warning lights on my dash! Hope it's something as simple as this.
My VW 2012 CC C Sport had this happen as well. When I hit the brake, the car stops. The break pedal builds up pressure as it should, but then the pressure releases and pedal goes to floor but csr stays stopped. There is a vibration in the pedal when it happens. Dealership said master brake cylinder and power booster. Thoughts?
I have the same 2013 model - same lights - but now have a red warning brake light as well. No speeds coming from either rear wheels. The mechanic says the abs rings and sensors are fine but does not know what the problem is. Do you have any ideas?
just had this exact warning batch pop up suddenly when driving on b7 passat. parked it up. then started the car again and drove it and the errors dissapeared? could it be that a pot hole or bump triggered the sensor? very strange
I had all these same lights appear on my 2012 passat 1.8tsi after I did an oil change, I'm guessing that jacking one side of the car up to get to the sump plug must have caused it
Hi I have the same faults but they all disappear after a 5 minute drive could that be the same issue with my vehicle a couple of mechanics said it’s the battery but after replacing battery still has same errors but only on startup as I drive they disappear
Would this also stop the power steering operating, I have a multitude of warning lights including the autostart error but it does drive! model 2012 bluemotion Engine 2.0 CR (Diesel) will do a VAGCom check
John Bullas I have the same problem! Power steering, traction control and abs. My wheel speed sensor was replaced very recently too. Could you please tell me wha your VAGCom check said
The same lights showed up on my 2016 Passat aside from the start stop light. When scanning the car, it showed the wss was faulty and I got all of therm replaced twice but all the light remain. Do you think it is the module that has gone bad?
I have the same problem...but...when all those amber lights are off the brak pedal is acting weird and grinding noises and can't drive over 30mph and when they are on the break works 100%.. so what is it?? thank you

Thank you soo much for this video. I hope you can help me a bit further. I had an issue where my clutch wouldnt come back up.. took it to a local asian garage and they advised it was some kind of hydrolic / pump which was leaking ( i saw some the fluid) got the car next day, and these lights came up? He wouldn't have messed with the sensor right? Thanks
I have these lights on after doing an emergency stop. My OBD tool says "no fault codes".How can I reset the lights to see if they come on again to tell me there is definitely a problem? Great video by the way. Thanks
Just had mine done at a VW main dealer. They 'kindly' reduced the price from over £500 to just £371 as we were regular customers, but still horrified at that. The wheel bearing needed doing (apparently) as well as the sensor, and parts alone were over £200. Best part is when the sensor fails, the auto handbrake stops working, so when you stop to investigate, your car rolls away! What a fabulous safety feature from VW. Next time it happens I'll definitely be investing in VDCS and doing the job myself - thanks for the really helpful vid :-)
Thanks a ton for the how to video, cost me £14.99 for a new sensor, £10 to get the codes scanned and under an hour to fit it. As soon as I put the key fob in the faults were gone. Saved me a goddamn fortune, would have been £100's to get main agent to diagnose and fix I bet. Is it advisable to get the fualt codes cleared?
@@Biliskner No i didn't get even get any kind of quote I did it myself, I knew it would be a ridiculous price. I have a family member who works in the car parts trade so got the part cheap, but even ebay etc are pretty cheap for any of the 4 sensors. So I got a local garage to check the error codes (£10) as you need to know which one to change as they are all different of course. If you have an OBD2 scanner you can get the codes yourself. Then it's a fairly easy process to change if you have the basic tools required and don't mind getting on your back under a jacked up car. Just make sure it's secure and try to have someone else there to keep an eye out. Axle stand and jack in combination is recommended as you need to remove the wheel and will have your head right under there.....don't want it falling on you :P

No clue what to do and my mechanic doesn't seem to know either
you have solution?
I have a VW Golf 7 2014 and after connecting the computer, it displays error B116816 steering angle sensor - too low voltage. Does the tape need to be replaced or is the problem somewhere else?
Great video which my scan tool is an obd11 it's giving me an issue pretty much with all the sensors. Is there like a control module for all of them? Appreciate the video!
Hi Gerard, would this issue also bring on limp mode? I say limp but pretty much stop mode really.
( VW Caddy 1.4 tsi 2016 )
Changed the actuator due to Turbo fault code, now getting water pump sensor high, throttle actuator sensor and throttle position sensor fault codes.
All started with pretty much the same symptoms as in your vid.
Any advise greatly appreciated please mate 👍
I had this same issue i changed the abs wheel speed sensor and fixed all faults 😊
I have the exact same scenario on my 2012 golf
My problem is this, I have a 2006 2.0tdi passat, lights on dash are steering, Esc & power steering: Ive changed EPB switch and lights still on, went for a drive and parking brake operates as it should, same with steering and brakes.... any ides please Gerard.
Which wireless scan tool did u use to connect to vcds
Nice! Thanks this may help me explain to the mechanic what I think could be wrong with my VW Touran
I have An Audi Q3 and have the exact problem. It drives excellent though, does those errors on the dashboaed decrease engine efficiency??
please assist!
Truely Sincerely I don’t think so, I regularly get 70+ mpg out of my 1.6D Touran
I've got same issue today, and didn't effect an output power.
Only turn off autohold feature, asr, abs and tyre pressure monitoring.
@@mato12348 same here
So by fixing that it made the power steering malfunction light go off ??
If my engine temperature is not showing an reading after replacing the temperature sensor, what could be the problem
Thanks for you help.
Im having the very same warning and the diagnosis shows multiple error and fault on rear left speed sensor g46
So I have a 2014 VW Tiguan. I get ABS, Start Stop, bending lights, electronic break and tyre pressure warning lights on my dash! Hope it's something as simple as this.
Same error messages I'm having on my 2013 VW CC
How did you fixed it I have a 2015 Tiguan? With all the light on
Same issue on 14 Mk7 Golf
Same issue for me - Passat rline 2015
Mechanic has told me it's coming back as a problem with my ABS Pump/Module. Turns out this can be quite expensive. 😩
Thoughts?
Same thing happens on my Passat 2012. There is a Vibration and it's on and off. The guys ABS module needs to be replaced.
Hey I have the same issue. How did you fix it?
Where are the front wheel sensors located? I cannot find them.
Is it ok to drive for awhile with this fault?.... Light on on ours and wondering does it affect braking or handling?...
Could you please tell me wha your VAGCom check said
Was fuse 13 that powers the odb and the abs 10a fuse replaced, all faults disappeared
@@JohnBullas so was it the fuses causing issue John, there seems to be a lot of money changing hands for a 20pence fix
@@terryhallam6538 one fuse 10p
@@terryhallam6538 yes the odb fuse blew taking everything connected to the abs module on the same fuse with it
The same lights showed up on my 2016 Passat aside from the start stop light. When scanning the car, it showed the wss was faulty and I got all of therm replaced twice but all the light remain. Do you think it is the module that has gone bad?
I drive a POLO GTI 1.4 and it's a front wheel drive. Does the rear wheels have sensor?
Siyabonga Mngoma yes
Having this issue with my 2012 VW golf days stabilizer fault car is in park but p is blinking and car won’t start at all, could this be the same?
I have the same problem...but...when all those amber lights are off the brak pedal is acting weird and grinding noises and can't drive over 30mph and when they are on the break works 100%.. so what is it?? thank you
Is this problem consistent with Diagnostic code P242B?
Very helpful,(NOT being sarcastic):), followed your video, changed the abs sensor, still have lights on dash. It's it difficult to change out the ring?
this error started showing up on my 2009 rabbit, can't take it in right away to get it fixed.Do you think it's safe to drive with bad censors?
Manny M yes
This is a brilliant video just had the same error come up on my 2013 vw cc that's only done 34k miles 😐
This about to be my second on a 45k mileage golf it’s ridiculous
@@joshrhodes5068 Glad it's a relatively cheap fix a little awkward but what car isn't 😂
Typical from a vw dash lights up like Xmas tree on all of them I have never seen a vw with no less than 3 lights on dash 😂😂 but great video btw 👍👍
Thanks JP :)
Same with me b7 malysia vrsion, almst 15@16tme snd to sc..so bad xprnce to me with vw....so 😢 😥😥😥😥..vw please2 fix ths prblem..
Since last week i have multiple errors.. all come together, a few come later, the problem over 9 time’s back to the full normal situation than back again, this times stuck.. auto hold, start stop, ABS , ESP, tiers pressure monitoring, front assistance, crosse control and a few errors more which I can’t remember now.. even its shout down my back camera but its works again.. all is begins with one long loud alarm and 2 or 3 smaller alarms .. really a headache..
Hi how do i put off my traction control on 2014 polo tsi 1.2
Thank you soo much for this video.
I hope you can help me a bit further.
I had an issue where my clutch wouldnt come back up.. took it to a local asian garage and they advised it was some kind of hydrolic / pump which was leaking ( i saw some the fluid) got the car next day, and these lights came up? He wouldn't have messed with the sensor right? Thanks
Sounds like the slave cylinder
Same happened to me in my jetta Gli
I have these lights on after doing an emergency stop. My OBD tool says "no fault codes".How can I reset the lights to see if they come on again to tell me there is definitely a problem? Great video by the way. Thanks
I would suggest getting a proper diagnostic or VAGCOM
Hi please help my Audi A4 is showing that power steering light and the steering is hard
Thanks Chris O'Dowd!
Thanks, i know now what to do. Great help! Even in 2024!
How much might this cost to fix through an independent or VW garage?
Just had mine done at a VW main dealer. They 'kindly' reduced the price from over £500 to just £371 as we were regular customers, but still horrified at that. The wheel bearing needed doing (apparently) as well as the sensor, and parts alone were over £200. Best part is when the sensor fails, the auto handbrake stops working, so when you stop to investigate, your car rolls away! What a fabulous safety feature from VW. Next time it happens I'll definitely be investing in VDCS and doing the job myself - thanks for the really helpful vid :-)
One million dollars!! U.S
Is it advisable to get the fualt codes cleared?
did a local garage close to you fix it? my VW dealership is already quoting £180 JUST FOR THE PART (!!!)
I hv a VW Passat Berlina 2008. When i insert electric parking brake, yellow sign of parking brake remain appear. But break works perfectly. Display says " Parking Brake Error " and symbol remain all the time appear. Till i switch off engine.
What it could be?
I’ve got a T5.1 California and the Stop/start, ABS, ESC and tyre pressure monitor all at the same time. Only thing is I don’t have a tyre pressure monitor on the van. Also I can’t turn ESC on or off the button doesn’t have a light showing where the stop/start lights up but doesn’t work anyway. Tried a code reader and no faults show so I’m a bit flummoxed..Think I will try changing the 2 rear sensors as I can’t think of anything else. Has anyone else go any ideas please.
Very well done mate, great video
I've the same lights on my 2013 passat but I've the tpms light on aswel, could this still be the same issue @gerard burke
My dvanced turning lights and parking censors wont work either is that because of the acc?😢
