I am 9 weeks out and have not learned 1/4 of what I have learned from YOU from my PT. I had not learned about scar massages at all and until I found your videos week 7 I suffered. I've seen mobility improvement since massaging and watching your videos. THANK YOU

    1) your work is the best I have seen on post-tkr. 2) I am 4 months out. I cycle regularly and notice after a ride (1-2 hours) I get swelling and it's warm to the touch. It hurts a bit the next day. But over the past 3 weeks I can feel it getting stronger. The whole healing has been so slow, but I can see it gradually improving. I assume the warmth and swelling (which dissipate gradually) are normal. But man, this takes so long! Thanks again for your encouraging and systematic approach to the healing process.

Your videos have helped me get through all the various stages of recovery following my knee replacement. Every time I had a worry I found a video that explained what was happening. Six months post op. Still some soreness on the outside of my knee if I stand for a long time but not worried and am happy to give it time to fully heal. Thanks...One more knee to go.

omg goodness, I thought you were describing me. i'm 9 months post op and have those symptoms exactly. Excersie physiologist im seeing has given me a plan of simple exercises but for some reason there are days that the pain is 8/10 .
like you say, it could be as simple as not drinking enough water, walking on a uneven surface will flare me to a 8/10 easy. standing still, sitting still long periods, and getting up down from office chair frequently can do it to me too.

7 mos post op here and doing well. 😊
What's been beneficial for me is the 5-8 minute stretch after my workout. I do 30 minutes 2 x weekly on my stationary bike then after a 10 minute stretch. Twice weekly I do strength training with "baby weights" followed by stretching. The stretching has minimized muscle discomfort significantly! For me stretching was my golden goose. 😉

Tony I am 3.5 months after the TKR. I am done with OT at the hospital. Now I am going back to my personal therapist. He massages me with little oils and then deep tissue. Massage. I still have pain around the knee joint. I massage on my own few times a day. Mostly sides and down the legs. What should I do? Please help me.

Your videos have been my go to for information prior to my left TKR in June 2022, looking at a TKR on my right knee this April. Did very well after my first TKR, I pray my right knee will do as well. I was on the stationary bike 5 days after surgery.
I’m now riding 40 minutes a day. Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us. 💕🙏

4 months after TKR. Still pain inflammation, swelling, achy, pain in middle of knee cap and side of knee. X-ray look good. Takes two days of pain to recoup. I have 118 ROM never more. I have reduced to Isometric glute and Quads but still have pain. Bike is best but leg inflammation once walking around house. Leg is not stable but it’s tight. Don’t sleep well since surgery. Very painful TKR. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your explanation. I'm 9 months out and still getting stiffness, pain and my leg feels very heavy. Can bend and straighten no problem. Swelling seems to have mostly subsided about 2 weeks ago. I will monitor my exercise and pain level now to see if I can see a correlation. Interesting that you mentioned stress as a contributing factor as I've been going through a really stressful break up with my now ex after only 3 weeks out from my surgery. I have now been 8 weeks on my own and my stress levels have subsided a lot. It will be interesting to see if that makes a difference in my soft tissue/tendon recovery.

Hi Tony, thanks so much for all your videos. I have tremendous pain all over the knee and thigh. I’m 19 weeks post op for a right knee replacement. I’ve recently had a scan which showed up that there is a 12mm gap in the centre of the stitches to reconnect the quadriceps tendon and a large haematoma above the missing stitches. Do you know if this is common and can be rectified? I have had to stop nearly every thing I was doing just to get some relief.

I am now 2 years and 4 months after TKR. still in pain stairs are the worse. I do stretches for flexion Squats and other Quad strengthening exercises Stationary bike And walking. Still have a lot of pain all around the knee capsule. I return to my surgeon this Monday for yet another follow up visit. C Rays are normally normal. Then he tells me I have to work more on my Quads ??? I say BS. Something else is wrong inside. I still swell and have more pain then before surgery. This is making me crazy.

I am 9 months post TKR. The recovery is going great except for one factor, what I call my "velcro" knee. It sounds like velcro and feels like something is scraping across the patella every time I bend my knee. In a telephone appointment with the surgeon with phone to knee, his response was: "So? Your x-rays show a perfect operation, and you still have you your own patella." My question is, will my knee always feel and sound like this? It doesn't seem to impede movement or hurt, however, I feel it. It would be great if you could respond, since he didn't really. Sorry, I'm not on facebook.

I was like that. Honestly Oxycodone was the only answer for 2 weeks. It will take the edge off and , no side effects. Good luck.

They used to give you 100 oxy/hydro-codone tablets post TKR, now they give you 30. Measure progress by the week, not the day. Usually the nights are the worst and it may be a month before you can sleep without narcotics. My knee started to feel better after month, and by three months it was great. Then at five months I joined the 18% that have chronic knee cap pain swelling and tightness. Nothing can prepare you for that first post-op month.

Ice and elevation 20 minutes. If you are in pain walk. Walking took away the pain.

I had my first knee replaced in November then the second replaced in March. The first one went without a hitch, the second one hurts behind the knee at the top of my calf when I stand and lift my foot from the knee to the rear. When I do that it quite often will snap, sometimes audibly and it hurts like mad. An x ray showed nothing, my PT person seemed to think I just have to work through it. It hurts enough that I don't do that exercise. Sometimes when walking as I pick up my foot to take another step it catches. I'm pretty concerned that this might be a problem I'll have to live with,

Same! I had my second total knee. First one was perfect. The second one is scaring me. If I increase my intensity at all (like very light dancing) or if I attempt hamstring curls something in the back of my knee snaps! It feels like a ping, and it’s painful. It feels like a ligament, but I can’t find anything that describes it. Nothing.

I have PAINFUL tendon or ligament snapping on the lateral side of my patella when I lift my knee as in a march or heel slide or rotations on the bike. I’m 10 weeks post op LTKR. It started about a month ago. Extension is 1° and Flexion is 132°. How or what do I have to do to stop this. Sometimes it brings tears.

Full compression pantyhose type helpful to control swelling and gives some support. Keep icing and elevating.
