One of the best bands that you just cant define, artistic and creative with extremely good sound quality wether its on cd or in concert..I pay to see them in concert any time they come to atlanta area...
They're just so unpretentious -- their music and their personalities are pretty freaking real. No, each song is not a masterpiece. But you can tell they're trying to make each note count. Some songs soar and make you feel something special. Others will just be cool to listen to. Enjoy it. That's all.
I live in Louisville and Jim is always hanging around on his days off. He can walk into a restaurant and nobody says anything. It's a Southern thing. We treat the music stars like any other profession. He's just a guy. Rocking is what he does.
I actually came into this band through first discovering Carl Broemel's solo work (he's the conservatory trained lead guitarist/backup vocalist for the band). Knowing his solo work, you can hear a lot of his influence on MMJ's work, especially with some of their more complex and musically rich pieces. Great musician, I strongly recommend.
+Teresa uNDERWOOD I do. It makes my hair very plush. P.S. met Jim in Vancouver after a show. He was down to earth and cool with spending time with fans.
They have their dark songs but I'd say most of their songs have a feeling of optimism, or at least a light at the end of the tunnel. Compare it to more pessimistic bands like Nirvana
"One Big Holiday" is going to go down in history as one of the greatest rock songs ever to be written
Their performance of that at Bonnaroo was incredible 👏 😍
Agreed!! I'm 61, a huge fan of my days music - especially Bob Dylan. MMJ is right up there with the best of ANY generation. They are amaaaaazing
Is it just me or is Jim James the coolest F*in dude on the planet???
He definitely is. Met him back in November after a show, such a wonderful guy.

Zack van Gerbig brought me here.
love this band but I wouldn't necessarily call their songs optimistic..i guess The New York Times never heard Strangulation.

It was all good until the muppets came in to the picture. 🤦♂️
I have been listening to this band for at least 2 years and their has not been a song I don't like.
Do you like Tennessee Fire?
They seem to have broken up, they're not really doing much anymore
Overrated Hipster Band...I don't see what the fuss is all about.
The fuss was their live shows back in the mid 2000s. Especially what they did at bonnaroo back then.
What’s a hipster?
