I might be in the minority here, so feel free to disregard: I think it would be more helpful for palette reviews to forgo the intensifeyes stick so we can see how the shadows perform on their own. I know it’s part of your usual routine, but I’m guessing a lot of people don’t have that product or even use a glitter glue most of the time, so it would help to see how metallics, etc., appear on the eye without the extra help. The intensifeyes stick can make even the most lackluster shimmers appear more foiled. Just my 2 cents! Congrats on 8K, you deserve it!
I'm darker than you are and the light shades from natasha are the only ones I can count on to show up on my olive skintone, I was surprised by how great this palette showed up on me and just wanted to share that with you, the pastel palette also shows up great on me but the mini retro palette was not punchy enough to show up on me at all so I was not expecting to like this palette as much as I do! tfs
I don't think she took any inspiration from Mel. She said when retro released that she wasn't done with the retro family. And both were trademarked at the same time last year. But I wish Mel was here to see this palette and use it 😔
Agreed i love Mel. But it’s very weird to me people are sayjbg Natasha Denona somehow copied her when this was always Natasha Denonas color story. She created the mini retro which is what Mel took Inspo from.

I understand it’s become second nature to question a businesses’s motives, because so many companies are super shady. SG has done fundraiser sales before, like during the wildfires a year or so ago. Maybe the timing of these Retros is a coincidence, maybe not, but I don’t think it was sly. They’ve made a point to establish a relationship with Mel’s family. Hope that helps! :)

I am very much looking forward to your comparison of this palette and the Sydney Grace one. Thank you for swatching the mattes the way you did. I’ve not seen anyone else do that and I like the clear view it gave of how they would look and apply on the eye. Having watched multiple reviews, I’m passing on this palette. I don’t like the grey under tone for most of the colors and how too many look the same on the eyes vs the palette. My skin tone is very similar to yours.
I really appreciated that this palette was so light in tone. Most of the ND palettes I have, have too much depth for me to use everyday. This will be lovely as an everyday office look. That said I am also paper pale. I could easily see why someone with a deeper skin tone would pass. I think it’s ok to have some palettes from a brand be paler and some deeper, so long as we see diversity between palettes available from the brand as a whole.
Good point. I love the look of this palette and I’m glad so many people are enjoying it. I was curious about trying it (I have a deeper skintone) but several of the colours seem to have a slightly ashy/grey undertone which I don’t feel would suit me. I’m lucky to have a large enough makeup collection with other options, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit disappointed that this won’t work for me as I love this sort of 1950’s colour story.
@@reneesoli5345 I’ve seen a range of skintones in her model pics. I personally don’t like how most of the shadows look on darker skin. There were some nice editorial looks (maybe helped by lighting?), but this isn’t a realistic buy for me to get my money’s worth. I’ve also watched a few videos by RUclipsrs with deep/dark skintone. Very pretty looks, but not for me. Like I said, I’m really pleased that this scratches an itch for so many people and I’m happy to get my retro inspiration elsewhere.

The look is so amazing! Greens are def meant for you! That Hermes blush and lipstick are 🔥🔥🔥 I do feel the same that some of the shade are too similar. I think a deep brown matte and a deeper matte green would have been a better choice to add. I may rearrange mine and pull a shade from Glam and Zendo to make it better suit me and my skintone. I do think it's still a really pretty palette and colorstory!
Yes please for 3 looks! I'm duping the vibes of this palette because I want it but I think I have the shades in my collection already like you were saying even Natasha Denona brand has similar shades. I love the colours and I might end up picking up the mini lol!!

I swear great minds because Tuesday night it was the night that I had hurt my back and I came home and I was laying in bed all broken lol and I had ordered that same lipstick from Hermès and two more blushes. I also have been eyeing two of their make up brushes, so I picked them up as well but That’s too funny.

I immediately went to the description bar as soon as you applied that powder ….so smooth and bright! I’ve had a bit of trouble with this color story, I’m fair olive with green/yellow eyes and these sage tones are looking just weird on me, and I LOVE & wear a lot of greens …particularly mints & olive greens. Something with the mattes in this palette just muddy up on me, I like the metallics way more than the mattes. I need to play around with it more, maybe it will “grow on me”
You got to a lovely look in the end! But yeah, those mattes are not for me. I love the mini retro so much but I am not interested in this at all. I feel like Mel’s bundle will be a bit more inclusive, but not interested in that either. The tones just don’t strike my fancy. I have been trying to hold my horses in buying new palettes. For this reason, I have not bought the My dream, this one and the Pat holiday palettes. However, I decided to buy the Mel Thompsons version of this palette, I am impressed by the quality of the eyeshadows. I may be buying the Tiny Marvels palette too. I just want to be more careful because in the past I just bought without even thinking, color stories that I was not really interested about. So even though palettes are beautiful, they may not be necessary a color story I am interested in. I still enjoy watching your reviews and I am sure I can get similar looks using the Mel palette.

I didn’t buy this palette (I wasn’t interested in getting it) and was so disappointed when I got it in my boxycharm because I wanted the other pallet BUT I have NOT STOP USING THIS PALLET!!! I even use the greens the most..which I thought I would never use lol

I do own all the palettes you named except the pastel which I returned for the same reason I’m returning this one it’s just not made for me you are absolutely right in saying the mattes are not for deep skin tones. I have to say this is a palette is not one I am drawn to however I think the light pastels are all the colours I dislike about the 80's makeup, I think the green look I would love out of this palette I can get and even better look with my Zendo palette, however I won't say never but I am going to go and see if Sephora here in Oz have it to see if it is something that looks different in person. You did create a lovely look and brings out the green of your eyes and that lipstick colour is so so pretty
I’ve used this palette a couple times and I don’t like it for me. I bought it on launch day at Sephora so I’ve had it awhile because I’ve been debating with the collector in me if it’s worth keeping. I want to try combining it with the glam or maybe the retro to see if I’ll like it more but right now I’m leaning towards returning it because I don’t think I’ll get any use out of it. The mattes are to light for my complexion the only depth comes from the shimmers and I have to think way to hard to come up with a look. Yes it has a lot of one and done that would compliment my skin tone but keeping it real I never do a one and done.

That's exactly what I though about this palette the moment I saw the swatches. The shimmers and metallics are beautiful, but the mattes doesn't make sense. For me this palette is incomplete, I would need another palette to complete any look, and, at this price range, it is unthinkable for me. I love greens and I really enjoy playing with mini retro but this one... I don't know. Nevertheless, you look stunning as always and the green look is amazing.🥰
And, as a clarification, the greens in the zendo aren't like these ones. Maybe the pastel mint resembles with the shade breath in the Zendo but it's different. The Zendo green's are amore blueish.

You're correct! I will not be buying this palette. It's not really dark skin friendly and I can tell most of those shades would make me look ashy 😂 After this palette and a couple other releases I'm starting to lose interest in the brand. I wish she would make more shadows like the ones from her Glam Face palettes. Those were gorgeous 😍 💜
I haven’t gotten this yet but did swatch at Sephora. I’m medium and 3/4 of the mattes didn’t show on me. They were so pale and ashy. I like the rest enough I’ll probably get it on sale eventually though.
I like my RetroGlam but I have switched the doublettes for a rich brown and even a light yellow to give it more variety. I am happy with it but basically because I can cusomize it to my liking. Compared to the other Midis I left more shadows in it than ever. Usually I switch them up completely. Saying that I don't have Zendo or the Pastell and was here for the greens. The metallic red was the first though to leave my palette. Not suiting me at all... and honestly I wish there would be more cream to powder shades. Just one a sad detail I try to ignore everytime I use it
Too chalky for my medium/tan skintone. Pass. Love the mini retro though! Was hoping for more sage green / peach rather than mint blue. FWIW BH Cosmetics pastel shows up well on me, so did MBM. Time for a new ND Ranking video!!!
Almost everyone said the same thing & did the same looks with this palette!! And the more I see these videos the more I don't like the way ND did it ! I feel it needs more depth & duochromeness to add more dimension to simple looks ! It is flat to me , I can dupe it with my singles collection without even looking at my singles ( I've mastered memorizing names of my singles 😆, from all the Duping I did those 2 years 😻 ) and my version would be better tbh 😉 I'd love to see multiple looks if you have time , 4 mini looks as you suggested & maybe presented in different way or shape !
Watching this a year later to decide if i want to pick it up while it's on sale. Color theory is that this palette is actually made for darker skin tones because it WON'T show up on light skin as well as dark. It's meant to give dark skinned people highlights.
I'll be passing for this. I feel like the mini version is a better deal than this midi palette TBH. I'll either get the retro mini or the Sydney Grace bundle which is what I'm actually leaning towards. I'm nowhere near being on the deeper end of the spectrum as a black girl and even this palette won't work for me and that says a lot. I do love ND and she has made enough palettes that work for me that this palette not working for me is ok.
It's odd because I've seen deeper ladies than you pull it off and it shows well on them, however I have a very similar skin tone and eye color as yours and I'm not feeling it either. Love the color story but I feel this is not the most flattering for blue eyes and cool light skin.
I picked up the ND one first because it hit the sale ,) I did order the Sydney Grace as well, back ordered but I don’t mind…. Mel was the FIRST person I watched everyday and I miss her so very much “HELLO BEAUTIES” I wish they would make apparel in her name saying that and I would so purchase, maybe someone should try to get the word to her husband so the proceeds can go directly to her family

I was disappointed with this palette, worst Natasha Denona palette I own and I have more or less all of them. Just don’t find the shades that flattering in daylight and the looks come out quite murky with little dimension. Thanks for your honest review x
Triochrome isn’t a midi. When she showed the shot of arm swatches from all of the palettes she said they were all midi but they’re not. Triochrome is full size Not midi

Every model I have seen ND do makeon for this palette has been dark skin tone.

I feel like Mel’s bundle will be a bit more inclusive, but not interested in that either. The tones just don’t strike my fancy. The cover is probably my favorite thing about it and that’s not a good enough reason for me to get a palette. Thanks for confirming my initial impressions. Your look did turn out great though 💞

@@MartinaLily I like them for decor, but they don’t look great on my olive toned skin. Some greens look amazing, some not so much. The greens in the mini work perfect for me and I adore the topper shade in the mini!
I love greens, green is my favourite eyeshadow to wear however I didn’t get this palette as I didn’t think the colours performed good.

I have been trying to hold my horses in buying new palettes. For this reason, I have not bought the My dream, this one and the Pat holiday palettes. However, I decided to buy the Mel Thompsons version of this palette, I am impressed by the quality of the eyeshadows. I may be buying the Tiny Marvels palette too. I just want to be more careful because in the past I just bought without even thinking, color stories that I was not really interested about. So even though palettes are beautiful, they may not be necessary a color story I am interested in. I still enjoy watching your reviews and I am sure I can get similar looks using the Mel palette.

I didn’t buy this palette (I wasn’t interested in getting it) and was so disappointed when I got it in my boxycharm because I wanted the other pallet BUT I have NOT STOP USING THIS PALLET!!! I even use the greens the most..which I thought I would never use lol
I prefer the full finished looks with a 3 look video, I don’t like the different look on each eye thing haha! But any extra video with this palette I would love ❤❤❤

I do own all the palettes you named except the pastel which I returned for the same reason I’m returning this one it’s just not made for me you are absolutely right in saying the mattes are not for deep skin tones. I have to say this is a palette is not one I am drawn to however I think the light pastels are all the colours I dislike about the 80's makeup, I think the green look I would love out of this palette I can get and even better look with my Zendo palette, however I won't say never but I am going to go and see if Sephora here in Oz have it to see if it is something that looks different in person. You did create a lovely look and brings out the green of your eyes and that lipstick colour is so so pretty

I’ve used this palette a couple times and I don’t like it for me. I bought it on launch day at Sephora so I’ve had it awhile because I’ve been debating with the collector in me if it’s worth keeping. I want to try combining it with the glam or maybe the retro to see if I’ll like it more but right now I’m leaning towards returning it because I don’t think I’ll get any use out of it. The mattes are to light for my complexion the only depth comes from the shimmers and I have to think way to hard to come up with a look. Yes it has a lot of one and done that would compliment my skin tone but keeping it real I never do a one and done.

That's exactly what I though about this palette the moment I saw the swatches. The shimmers and metallics are beautiful, but the mattes doesn't make sense. For me this palette is incomplete, I would need another palette to complete any look, and, at this price range, it is unthinkable for me. I love greens and I really enjoy playing with mini retro but this one... I don't know.
Nevertheless, you look stunning as always and the green look is amazing.🥰
And, as a clarification, the greens in the zendo aren't like these ones. Maybe the pastel mint resembles with the shade breath in the Zendo but it's different. The Zendo green's are amore blueish.

You're correct! I will not be buying this palette. It's not really dark skin friendly and I can tell most of those shades would make me look ashy 😂 After this palette and a couple other releases I'm starting to lose interest in the brand. I wish she would make more shadows like the ones from her Glam Face palettes. Those were gorgeous 😍 💜
A tip is to use a light eyeshadow base. Not concealer
I haven’t gotten this yet but did swatch at Sephora. I’m medium and 3/4 of the mattes didn’t show on me. They were so pale and ashy. I like the rest enough I’ll probably get it on sale eventually though.
I like my RetroGlam but I have switched the doublettes for a rich brown and even a light yellow to give it more variety. I am happy with it but basically because I can cusomize it to my liking. Compared to the other Midis I left more shadows in it than ever. Usually I switch them up completely. Saying that I don't have Zendo or the Pastell and was here for the greens. The metallic red was the first though to leave my palette. Not suiting me at all... and honestly I wish there would be more cream to powder shades. Just one a sad detail I try to ignore everytime I use it
Too chalky for my medium/tan skintone. Pass. Love the mini retro though! Was hoping for more sage green / peach rather than mint blue. FWIW BH Cosmetics pastel shows up well on me, so did MBM. Time for a new ND Ranking video!!!
Almost everyone said the same thing & did the same looks with this palette!! And the more I see these videos the more I don't like the way ND did it ! I feel it needs more depth & duochromeness to add more dimension to simple looks !
It is flat to me , I can dupe it with my singles collection without even looking at my singles ( I've mastered memorizing names of my singles 😆, from all the Duping I did those 2 years 😻 ) and my version would be better tbh 😉
I'd love to see multiple looks if you have time , 4 mini looks as you suggested & maybe presented in different way or shape !
Watching this a year later to decide if i want to pick it up while it's on sale. Color theory is that this palette is actually made for darker skin tones because it WON'T show up on light skin as well as dark. It's meant to give dark skinned people highlights.
I'll be passing for this. I feel like the mini version is a better deal than this midi palette TBH. I'll either get the retro mini or the Sydney Grace bundle which is what I'm actually leaning towards. I'm nowhere near being on the deeper end of the spectrum as a black girl and even this palette won't work for me and that says a lot. I do love ND and she has made enough palettes that work for me that this palette not working for me is ok.
It's odd because I've seen deeper ladies than you pull it off and it shows well on them, however I have a very similar skin tone and eye color as yours and I'm not feeling it either. Love the color story but I feel this is not the most flattering for blue eyes and cool light skin.
I can't decide if I want to get this for my mom. I'm not sure if she will understand the formula and application. Is it easy for beginners/aged skin?

I picked up the ND one first because it hit the sale ,) I did order the Sydney Grace as well, back ordered but I don’t mind…. Mel was the FIRST person I watched everyday and I miss her so very much

the more I see/hear about this palette the less I "need" it... maybe one day I will get it on a sale or something but to be honest, I prob have prettier greens in my current collection already. Overall, the palette is really pretty but I think it is below my expectations.

I was disappointed with this palette, worst Natasha Denona palette I own and I have more or less all of them. Just don’t find the shades that flattering in daylight and the looks come out quite murky with little dimension. Thanks for your honest review x

Triochrome isn’t a midi. When she showed the shot of arm swatches from all of the palettes she said they were all midi but they’re not. Triochrome is full size
