  • This over 100 years old charcoal iron restoration project lasts normally two days. But I filmed in a week. I will leave here briefly the steps that I have followed in restoring standing anitque pieces:
I started by removing the broken part and cleaning the mud from it, I put the iron in electrolysis for 24 hours after I cleaned it with water and detergent then I cleaned it at the grinder with the wire brush mounted and after this cleaning little parts and the sole of the iron, skimmed and painted, I made a new handle and that's all done.
    Thanks for watching my videos!

My father has this iron made of thick brass. The heating fuel is from hard coconut shell (coconut shell). The result of ironing makes clothes slick, smooth and fragrant. Now in ironing we use an electric iron. And I keep the ancient brass iron as a collection of ancient items.

I don't have any skills to carry out this work so appreciate the time and effort put into this restoration, it is an attractive piece however I feel with just a bit more effort it could have been great. The handle is totally out of proportion and both it and the colour do not do the piece justice especially using modern cross head screws, at least black dome heads would have looked better. As a 'designer' piece it would be quite collectable.
