Such a lovely video. As a classroom teacher, I always wrote up my daybook at the end of the day. Because of all the unexpected interruptions or events, I preferred to note what actually got done. That not only relieved the pressure of having to complete all the written plans, but, as you mentioned, you get to see how much you really accomplish. Plus . . . it's so much neater. Even now, after my teaching career, my "planner" is really a record of how I spend my days. It leaves room for unexpected opportunities and serendipity. Your planner is beautiful and will be a wonderful keepsake for both you and your children.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind and encouraging comment! I love learning from veteran teachers - now as a homeschooler and before as a newbie classroom teacher myself. You’re a wealth of practical knowledge! Thanks!
I reverse plan too. You do a really lovely job of it though. It’s a real keepsake! I definitely agreed with your final comments about how it changed your own perspective on your homeschool. That has been the most wonderful thing about reverse planning as a mom with adhd and a strong perfectionistic bent. It’s been a joy to see it through the actual results of our days vs the pretty plans I construct beforehand and never seem to live up to. I like our actual homeschool a lot better! 😊
Just came across this video. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how you decorated your planner!!! I do reverse planning, too, and this video made me feel better about not always planning ahead!
@ProjectHappyHome yes! When I started homeschooling, I was so stressed out about not having time to plan everything out. Then, our 2nd year, I did, but we couldn't stick to the schedule. Then I started reverse planning without realizing it lol 😆 truly though, I love your style! I think I'll try doing that too!
Ooo I really like how you turned the weekly plan into horizontal rows. I have three kiddos as well. I also like the combined column so I’m not rewriting the same thing over and over.
We reverse plan too. I’m totally going to check out that planner. Thanks for sharing. I’ve followed you for years and can’t believe I never subscribed. Just did. I also have a channel mainly about homeschooling. So fun to connect with likeminded professional mommas. I gave up my dental practice to homeschool. So worth it even with its challenges.
Awesome! Thank you so much for subscribing - I forget to subscribe to people all the time, too. We have a lot in common, it seems! Looking forward to checking out your channel!
@@ProjectHappyHome yes we do! Our son is definitely adhd but we don’t want to get him tested because I don’t want to medicate him and have it on his record in case he joins the military like his dad. Haha. But happy to learn from your videos on the how tos. Thankfully he’s getting a lot better with coping with his diversity as he’s getting older.
Love this! I’ve done this years ago but didn’t stick to it. I love the idea of leaving room for pics at a later time. Thanks for sharing & the encouragement☺️
Yes-I have to do this..but I also have to make a list of what to do or I forgot. 🙈 i LOVE the lamination idea bc if it’s not on my list-it’s not happening. Thank you for this!!
The laminated todo list really made reverse planning an effective tool for me - instead of just an elaborate journal-keeping activity. Thanks so much for watching!
Really enjoyed this. I think I need to try reverse planning for the upcoming school year and maybe I’ll even start now before we switch over to “new grades”. Because that part about seeing everything that you wanted to get done but you didn’t does make it seem like we did nothing and makes me feel yucky lol. Thanks for the video!
Sometimes I print on sticker paper and sometimes I print on regular paper and just use glue runner to affix them to the page. When I use sticker paper, I use 8.5x11" sheets and arrange the photos with the PrintToPage app. Occasionally, I use my little photo printer and paste those in, but I don't like the cost of the refill papers for the little printer. Thanks so much for watching!
I took it to Staples and they cut the binding off for me. Call ahead at your local printer store and confirm that they can do it. Some do not offer the service. Hope that helps!
Hello Tanya, I appreciate the info in this video. By any chance can you link your planner cover? I can't tell, but it looks like a discbound system. Thank you in advance!
Those seem to be out of stock, but these are similar: www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5NTJGR/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WYMGE6PCJ9EZ2512NBBN?linkCode=ml2&tag=rojecappyome-20

Reverse planning is so soothing, right? Calms the frenetic planner in us all.

Yes, exactly! Thanks for watching!

Hi Tanya, I absolutely love the idea of incorporating photos and book covers....it's such a beautiful way to record and cherish those moments!! 😊
Thanks, friend. I loved your artistic book logs and overall aesthetic for your planner as well!
Always love how you reimagine planners and journals ❤
Thanks, love. That reminds me to add your video to the description!
I love, love, love this video! It was *just right* for me! Thanks for sharing :)
Yay, I'm so glad! Thanks for taking the time to leave a sweet comment!
❤ cuddlepot bootcamps.
Her videos have been so helpful in finding great books.
Thank you for this lovely video !
I love her flipthrus, too!

I'm so glad it was helpful! I definitely started to feel more accomplished every week when I had our actual "done" list to admire.
Thanks for sharing. That minimalist planner cover looks beautiful 😍
I love it! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
This is exactly what I do. Thanks for your video.
I happened upon your videos for the first time. Are you in radio? I love your voice.
What a kind compliment! No, I’m not on radio, but I’m considering starting a poetry podcast. ☺️
I always thought of this as recording.
Same, lol! I think that “reverse planning” is just a way of merging planners with traditional recording.
I need to get better at this, I already forget things we studied this year. Are you printing your family photos?

How did you get the book off binding???
