I love that you mention time with the Lord before everything else. It is so hard to find the time but so important. I also love the idea of getting up just 15 minutes earlier for a month and then 15 minutes earlier the next month and so on. Much more doable than trying to do 1 hour earlier from the start.
Thank you for this video! I am a very veteran hs momma. We have 6 adult, married kids that I homeschooled, (and we have also been blessed with 8, and counting, grandkiddos) 7 years ago when my husband I and I just became empty nesters we were asked to take in our now adopted beautiful son! I have the honor of homeschooling him and am so thankful to the Lord that I am on this journey once again. By the time he graduates I'll have about 37 years under my belt :) First and foremost, I love your passion for Christ! While I love so many of the essential tips you gave, the one that stuck with me was listening to audiobooks while folding laundry or during other times where reading would be difficult but listening is not. I have never purchased an audiobook but it is now on my list! Thank you so much!
I love that you said Christ for the first essential. That's a huge reason I chose to homeschool. I want to bring Christ and religion into every subject. 🥰
Its extremely essential to get in the word first thing in the morning. We as parents are also called to study the Bible with our children so we must be ready!
Favorite tip - Starting off the day by spending time with God and making Him our priority! Also, I love your suggestion to make a goal of waking up 15 minutes earlier until you can build on that.
Thank you for sharing your faith in Jesus! Spending quiet time alone with Jesus is the most essential part of life! I remember hearing a quote that says, ‘As your day begins, so your day goes.’ It’s the best way to start your day. 🥰
I'm not sure I have just one favorite. I love that you incorporate the Lord into your daily homeschool routine. I think that's so important and really connects you and your children on a deeper level. I, also, love that you mentioned to take the time to educate ourselves and not just our children. All of us can learn something new everyday and I think that helps us as moms get in the right mindset with teaching our babes! Also, YES those storage bins from Michaels, truly, are the best storage bins on the planet.. I am, also, slightly obsessed with those!
For any mamas that struggle to read the Word as much as they would like I highly recommend The Daily Audio Bible App! They read through the Bible in a year every year, you can move, clean, cook whatever while you listen to the Word being read. Then there is commentary and then people from all over the world call in with prayer requests and praises! It’s a wonderful time each day! I love the prayer book you shared! I so so need the organizational tips! I love how you have the bins in the cubby shelf! Looks so neat and organized ! I love the carts too! I made magazine boxes from cereal boxes and shelf paper. Lol used for years, I need a new way! Love the idea for the Library bin! You are awesome! 🥰🥰🥰
I found your channel 3 years ago when I pulled my youngest kiddo out of kindergarten a month in. I was so scared! I've been listening ever since. So glad I started homeschool and so thankful for all your videos to help me feel confident! Going into 3rd grade (and my oldest 9th!) And while I feel a little nervous with a high schooler, I appreciate your reminder that I can do what I can and God is there for us. He has us 🥰 My favorite tip was getting in the word 1st and time to pray.
My favorite thing you mentioned would be keeping a Christ at the center of your homeschool. I 100% agree with keeping Christ at the beginning of the day - especially for being the mama / homeschool leader for the house! This is so often overlooked and thank you for mentioning that.
My favorite essential was you're speaking about the importance of getting God's word to star the day. I believe in God's word first and last each day. I loved your tips on using Latchmate bins.
The quiet time with Jesus is my favorite tip. It was life changing when I made time for it by waking up earlier in the morning. It's now a habit, and I love starting my day with it🥰 what a sweet and generous giveaway ❤
🥰 essential takeaways: start your day with God, educate yourself and read aloud good books to your babies. Also, I love how organized you are. We are starting our homeschool journey this year and your videos have been a blessing to me. Thank you
My favorite essential is to spend time with the Lord first thing in the morning. It’s nice and quiet, and having that time with Him really sets the tone for the entire day .
My favorite thing you mentioned was either the personal quiet time with the Lord or the books for mom! Quiet time is hard to.come by these days with littles but I am so inspired by your commitment to do it. I love how you mentioned if you were forced to choose between quiet time and cleaning the house, you choose quiet time! And the books you're giving away- they have been on my list for a while, I just haven't gotten to them yet! Thank you for doing this giveaway and for sharing your homeschool journey with us. I'm a brand new homeschool mom and feeling just a bit overwhelmed but I feel less overwhelmed after watching your videos :) You're using the gifts God has given you to encourage other moms and it's such a blessing!!
I love that quiet time with the Lord is the first essential! I do this too, and when my boys wake up for the day encourage them to do so as well. I also love the open and go curriculum, perfect for new homeschoolers and even veterans. Your videos are always so encouraging!
🥰 My favorite takeaway was to make sure to set time aside for the Lord and learning for myself. I have a hard time finding time to do that between work, keeping house, and homeschool. But it is so important. Thank you! This is my second year homeschooling and your videos have been soooooo helpful!
Hi!!! You are such an inspiration as a mom and homeschool teacher. I love watching all your videos. You always share so much. I love seeing your kids grow up and how you explain things to them as you teach. My favorite essentials from today would be the Michael’s bins to place each child’s curriculum. I can’t wait to purchase it for my 4 year old son. I homeschool him. I hope to be considered for the giveaway. I’m excited to hear what it is going to be 😊. I also love how you recommended Erin. I learned about her in the past from you. She’s great too. Thank you 🙏 for everything you do.
Hey Dina! I paused the video to write to you earlier but I see that at the end you mentioned what the giveaway was going to be. I read “Teaching from Rest,” a while back but would love to own the hard copy too. Excellent tips!!
🥰 I agree that prayer and Scripture are soooooooooooo important! Dwell has been so worth the subscription. My son and I spend a lot of time outside and I can’t always carry a lot but listening to Scripture in a blessing.
Simply, your type of energy is essential. ❤ the enthusiasm and love you bring with Christ and homeschooling is so refreshing. I loved how you mentioned the different options for organizing homeschool setting without having to spend sooo much money. I appreciate you taking out time to help us in our journey in pursuing peace with Christ, homeschooling and the "mama" world. 😊
My mother in law came in earlier today with a beautiful aquamarine color t shirt and she turned around to hug my kids and it said His Grace is Enough it's beautiful ❤️
🥰🥰🥰 These are all extremely helpful and most definitely essentials and great organization. For myself the best essential is making Christ apart of all thing. Without Christ there is nothing and He needs to be the center of everything and for sure homeschooling. The morning quiet time is excellent something that is so needed and I struggle with. The assigning of a few minutes at a time is smart.
Quiet time really is essential. I let that pass in favor of other things I "need" to get done. How easily I put aside the One who provided all of those things. I am only here by His Grace, He deserves my undivided attention during quiet time. I needed the reminder. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your personal experience and some good homeschooling wisdom! Everything was helpful and relatable so thanks for keeping it real and not over complicating things. Makes it all feel less intimidating. - Quiet time WITH THE LORD is clearly the best advice you shared. That shapes every aspect of our life, right? - Reading out loud to your kids really jumped out at me as you talked about that. I don’t do that enough and wow, what a wake up call! Your homeschooling journey is inspiring. Thank you for being willing to share it with all of us here. 🙏🏻
🥰 I guess I would be considered a veteran HS mom maybe? I’ve been HS since 2006, graduated 2 so far… 4 more to go 😅 I love of course that you mention beginning at the feet of Christ. Being a pastors wife and busy mom of all the ages lol this past year has brought me to a stop! What a beautiful reminder you have given with such enthusiasm for our Lord! Thank you! I also appreciate the reminder that it can be SIMPLE!!! 🥰🥰
Essential for me in homeschooling is good books! We're constantly putting books i researched ahead of time on hold and picking them up. No more checking out odd books that are just a waste.
🥰 My favorite tip of yours is having quiet time with God in the morning! I’m just starting my homeschooling Journey and at the same time I’m trying to grow spirituality so this tip is perfect! I am definitely going to start setting aside time to do this!
I wish that I had discovered your channel when I first started homeschooling. You are such a blessing and wealth of wisdom! Thank you so much for all you share and do! Definitely going to look into your podcast and book recommendations but I think my favourite tip, which resonates most with me, is spending time with the Lord first and foremost. Number 1 game changer! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much, I am also in the faith but fail to put God first, just being caught up in my own chaotic life. This message is relatable and refreshing
Hi! New subscriber here! I was searching for some encouragement on youtube before I start my 3nd year of homeschooling my youngest child! I am a veteran homeschool Mom who just graduated my first born out of college!😭 I am on my final years of homeschooling my last child who is 8 years old! I loved loved your video and even though I have homeschooled for many years, I am always looking for fresh new ideas when it comes to teaching and organization, because as we know each child is so different with their needs as a student! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and share your homeschool journey with us! I especially love that you love Jesus and put him first before all! Im off to watch the rest of your videos now and looking forward to future videos! And I put your two book recommendations on my wish list! Thank you! 🥰
I love that you opened this video with the need for quiet time and Jesus. I love your heart for homeschooling and God ❤️ that is our focus this year, it can be easy to get wrapped up in the busyness and the even the fun of how to organize the things you’ve bought to homeschool. Thank you for sharing your tips 😊
My favorite tip was definitely quite time with God! Sadly, I am always on and off with that and this video really encouraged me to begin again as I start the new school year! Thank you :)
I really liked that your number one tip is making time for personal time with God. This is something I've been feeling convicted about lately. Thanks for sharing your faith and stressing how important it is well each make time to fpend with Him.
🥰 I loved how you mentioned reseting your schedule to make sure you were spending time with God in the morning. I find myself longing for that. My favorite organization tip is the bins. We are currently using a cart and it’s working well for us now. But, I can see myself switching to bins as they get older and need more independence and their “own stuff.”
My quiet time! That’s the most essential thing in my life, as a Christian, wife and mom! Being in His presence everyday is the most important thing in my life! Without Him I couldn’t do anything 🙏🏼
I’m so happy you mentioned time with God bc we need our cups full for whatever the day may bring; also, the Word is constantly refining us. Great Video ❤
My kids LOVE our read aloud time every day and veg for more chapters than my voice can handle after a morning of teaching. 😂 i have a capable but reluctant reader, so making sure he loves good books is high on my priority list!
The quiet time is a good reminder! I'm trying to work on getting up earlier to hopefully have a little time before the kiddos get up! I also like the latchmate boxes and the idea of just having books!❤
I love books! Our local library use to charge $0.50 per request/hold but they have done away with that fee (and late fees too!) and I use it all. the. time! They know me by name now and grab my books when they see me come in the door...and it is usually quite a stack :) And, of course, starting my day with quiet time with the Lord...which is not always easy as you mentioned. We are in a season where I have to rethink how to make that happen on a daily basis with lots of littles who wake up early...and it seems like if i wake up earlier, so do they!
🥰 I think when I became a new home educator I was overwhelmed with all the choice, styles, curriculum & seeing these beautiful home school rooms, so your video would of been the reassurance and guidance I needed. Some great tips but loved the lidded bins. We are 3 years in to home education now x
Waking up and spending time in the Word but also making sure my children do the same. Latchmate bins would be my personal favorite organization item. I have my kids craft supplies organized so they are more inclined to use them. We use them for paint, clay, melty beads, crocheting, candle making...etc.
I'm a new homeschool mom just figuring out what to buy and I really love the bins, especially because we like to spend a lot of time outside and with this, we can carry our curriculum with us.
Your passion for Christ is infectious ❤️. I always enjoy your videos, they are so motivating. I’m going on my 3rd year homeschooling and an essential in our home is busy yet simple learning things for my toddler so that she feels included with her big sister but allows us to get things done😅. She sees her learning and wants in on all of it lol. We are also going to be adding in Bible study in the morning this year and I cannot wait to watch my girls and myself grow in our faith together. I picked up More Than Words and The Hands on Bible experience after hearing your reviews on them ☺️🙏🏻.
Time with the Lord for sure! So Helpful to keep you rooted and focused on what is most important. We also have a separate basket for our library books. It’s so helpful to not get them all mixed up. 🥰
My printer is my most relied on essential. In fact, this week my printer started having some issues and I freaked out because we start our homeschool year next week. Thankful, I resolved the issue this morning.
Thank you so much for this video! I was feeling overwhelmed with starting homeschooling this year. 3 under 3😅! I love that you mentioned putting time with the lord first and most important! 🥰🥰
So many good tips, the most difficult for me to do since becoming a sleep deprived mama is the time in the Word in the morning. Thank you for your encouragement!! I have wanted to read both of those books and am thankful for you and your content.
I love your passion for quiet time with Christ first thing in the morning. So essential!! We just went to Michael’s last night and got new bins. We had a couple broken ones and have a new homeschoolers. I was so bummed cause now they don’t fit in my cupboard! But I do love them! They are just the best for storing their individual studies and then I have a bin for Science and History too. Love them! Sarah Mackenzie is awesome. I love her books, book lists, and podcast too!! I read Teaching From Rest every year too! I think Scribd with long I makes more sense too, but I do hear other people saying it with a short I. I still say it Scrībd. 😆 Lovely video as always! God bless!
I've bern homeschooling now for 3 yrs. I use Abeka & I loved your tips on organization & how reads are are so important as a homeschool parent & for my kid. I liked how you said you get up early to spend time with the Lord, it's something that I have to be consistant in. Overall it really helped me out a lot. So thank you for sharing what's working & the essential things you need to have in our homeschool.
I miss you sweet lady! I love watching your peaceful videos! You even have some good reminders in here for me that I have forgotten about over the years.
My favorite homeschool essential are the latchmate bins. I have those for both my kiddos. They are great to keep their separate curriculums in. I even bought one for myself to keep my planner and books in. 😊
I like the idea of a library book bin! We usually end up mixing the library books with our own and then it’s a hassle to find them all before going to the library.
Today marks the beginning of our homeschooling journey!! 😊 I bought my kiddos desks and chairs so they can have a place to go and do there work but at first I thought maybe i did wrong because I was making them sit there like they were at school but after listening to you talk about how it’s a good idea for the kiddos to have a place to go made me feel much better at the idea 😊 My essential is having time with the Lord and taking my children first thing in the morning to daily mass! 🙏🏻 ❤️ God bless all the mothers out there who are also beginning this journey just like we are!
I love that you mention morning time. I ALWAYS feel better when I start my day out in the word---and yet here I am having just had some quiet time and it's almost time for dinner. I'll be making a conscious effort to address it first thing going into this school year and eager to see how the rest of the year takes shape :) Thanks for all you share here, it is so appreciated and encouraging as we start our new school years.
My favorite essential that you mention was Christ . We are working on adding more to it in our to day with the toddlers . I definitely loved the Bible you mention with photos and diagrams! Thank you for sharing ♥️ 🥰🥰🥰
Yes! Time in the word is absolutely essential! And good books. I don't think you missed anything that I would label essential. Thank you for the thoughtful content!
My favorite essentials you mentjoned are the quiet time in prayer for mom. Definitely much needed. And the library card. When we started homeschooling a few years back the library was such an important resource - not only for books but for story time where they could get out and interact with other kids. ❤
🥰 I love your genuine focus on Christ and the need to keep Him at the heart of all we do. ❤ My favorite organizational idea is the cart/magazine rack. This is what we use because we are wanderers, and I love being able to keep everything together and still mobile.
I really like the tip for open and go curriculum. when we first started I just ordered what seen some one else using with no teaching experience. My children and I were fustrated, keeping it as simple as possible is defiantly the way to go.
Favorite tip - spend time in the Word and let the Lord prepare you for the day! This has always been extremely helpful for me and so glad to hear others sharing it. ❤
An essential that you mentioned would be the clear containers (which I need some!) and I also have a tip myself, get a laminator! Best purchase ever! I can reuse so many different papers, make so many different learning games/ activities, it’s awesome! Thank you so much for all you Dina! Bless you! ❤
Thank you, Dina! 🥰 My favorite tips were your emphasis on Bible quiet time. We take quiet time every afternoon but I love how you phrased how important it is for mamas too. I will also be checking out thr booklist resource - I go to our large public library downtown, walk in, and have no idea what to pull. And thank you for the recommendation to use homeschooling podcasts as a source of education for us as teachers- this is my 3rd year homeschooling and am trying to restructure a lot before we start. Your channel is such a blessing to me, thank you for sharing!
Dear Dina, you are a such encouragement! Each time there is something to take away from your videos. This time I will try "15 min early" exercise. Blessings from our family to yours!
Hello Dina, I think that it is essential to read to the children while they are young because it helps them progress and grow as they grow older and this is something that I have tried to do and that is teaching and reading the bible to my young great niece and I believe this impact will help her to not only understand but also get to know more about the bible ut also allowing her to ask questions if she should have any. Thanks Again!
first year homeschooling and I thought a couple of things that were really helpful. 1 would be having quiet time for myself in the mornings to start my morning off strong because as a mom of 2 it’s hard to have that time & 2 the latch bins because there’s so much stuff to keep track off 🥰
My favorite thing from your video is the bins. I am so going to get one for my son's homeschool stuff. I am so tired of having all his stuff all over the place, it really overwhelms me and makes me not even want to tackle his school work for the day. I want to get myself a planner this year. We did the Good and the Beautiful Kindergarten Prep earlier this year and now he is going to be going into Level K/kindergarten. I got him the Big First Grade workbook from Target a few days ago bc the kindergarten one looked like the same things he already knows.
Definitely agree with you on being in the word! That and what I listen to throughout the day effects my attitude and mood. Love the look of your room. It looks so peaceful. 🥰
I love the idea of a library basket to keep public library books separate! I strugged with that in the past and we kind of gave up on going to the library because of the stress of finding the books within our books:) ...time to start back up! Thanks!
I love that you mentioned a printer! I just copied sample pages of my kids' work for the last year for their yearly assessments that my state requires. I was thinking I'm so glad I finally have a reliable printer, I love my ecotank! I hadn't heard of the read aloud book and I've been homeschooling for 7 years now 😂 I'm going to go check it out! 🥰
🥰 Thank you so much for this video! Sometimes we get so caught up in these homeschool haul/supply videos and think OMG I NEED ALL OF THIS TOO! When in reality as you point out, you really don’t! Thank you for your honesty and for posting this video. We’re in a season (hopefully temporary) right now where money is tight so I can’t buy whatever I want and really need to make a hard judgement call as to whether this item is truly necessary or needed right now. I do want to point out that my favorite organizational tip are those bins from Michael’s. I didn’t know they changed them! What a bummer! Why do they have to change a good thing? I purchased them from your recommendation from a previous homeschool video last year. They’re amazing! Thank you for the recommendation to listen to Sarah’s books through audio because I’ve had those 2 books in my Amazon cart for 2 years now and haven’t purchased them yet! I keep saying I’m going to figure out a time to sit and read for myself…just haven’t made that time for myself yet. Work in progress. 😂. Having a hard copy of the book for notes/reference or highlighting is always great. I’m an old school paper gal too! 🙌🏻
I love that you mention time with the Lord before everything else. It is so hard to find the time but so important. I also love the idea of getting up just 15 minutes earlier for a month and then 15 minutes earlier the next month and so on. Much more doable than trying to do 1 hour earlier from the start.
Yes! I've tried the one hour thing and it doesn't stick. 15 min helps your body get used to the change more easily. ❤️
@@PursuingPeace quick question, those latch bins you showed.. can a filled 1 inch binder fit inside ?
Favorite tip - Starting off the day by spending time with God and making Him our priority! Also, I love your suggestion to make a goal of waking up 15 minutes earlier until you can build on that.

Everyday time with the Lord is my fav thing you had mentioned.. that too without shying away from talking about Christ! Love your heart :)🥰
Praise God! ❤️ Thank you for your encouragement!
My mother in law came in earlier today with a beautiful aquamarine color t shirt and she turned around to hug my kids and it said His Grace is Enough it's beautiful ❤️
Hands down, that printer!!!! GAME CHANGER!!! 💜🌸💜🌸

Books! Books! Books! I love teaching my kids through books! 🥰
I love how you made the first thing time with the Lord!! 🥰
I really need to get better about spending time with the Lord DAILY! My day is always better and smoother when I get that time in first thing! 🙌🏻
Favorite essential that you mentioned was quiet time. I struggle with getting some quiet time with the Lord. Thank you for sharing. 🥰

School supplies are my favorite essential. I think I enjoy them more than my kids do.
🥰 My favorite tip of yours is having quiet time with God in the morning! I’m just starting my homeschooling Journey and at the same time I’m trying to grow spirituality so this tip is perfect! I am definitely going to start setting aside time to do this!
I love your tip to educate yourself. I have been homeschooling for 16 years and self education is so crucial.
Love that Christ is the first essential. Thank you for your encouragement ❤️
My favorite tip was definitely quite time with God! Sadly, I am always on and off with that and this video really encouraged me to begin again as I start the new school year! Thank you :)
I loved how you put your tips in order of importance. First God then curriculum then supplies etc.
I really liked that your number one tip is making time for personal time with God. This is something I've been feeling convicted about lately. Thanks for sharing your faith and stressing how important it is well each make time to fpend with Him.
My favorite essential was making time for the Lord in your day.
Yes, good books are essential for homeschool! I totally agree, they can be your entire science and history curriculum in the early years. 🥰
Smile
My favorite tip was definitely getting in the Word first. I have found that this makes a tremendous difference in my day.
I’m so happy you mentioned time with God bc we need our cups full for whatever the day may bring; also, the Word is constantly refining us.
Great Video ❤
Yes! Amen! ❤️
My kids LOVE our read aloud time every day and veg for more chapters than my voice can handle after a morning of teaching. 😂 i have a capable but reluctant reader, so making sure he loves good books is high on my priority list!
My favorite homeschool tool has to be my printer. I use it alot and couldn't live without it.
🥰 i love how you mentioned the need to fill ourselves with the word and focus on devotional .
❤ time in His word! Educate yourself, read aloud to your children ❤- I tell so many mamas this very thing! So encouraging, thank you 🙏🏽
🥰 I think when I became a new home educator I was overwhelmed with all the choice, styles, curriculum & seeing these beautiful home school rooms, so your video would of been the reassurance and guidance I needed.
Great tips. Spending time with the Lord is so important! Love the 15 minutes idea! These were so good. 🥰
Lovely video as always! God bless!
We haven't started just yet but I always love your encouragement that even if it's hard we just trust in God and try again tomorrow 💜
🥰 The Latchmate bin with the tray 🤯. My homeschool seems to keep growing and this is something I can implement in my school. Thank you.
I miss you too!!! ❤️
Thank you for sharing ♥️
🥰🥰🥰
Yes! Time in the word is absolutely essential! And good books. I don't think you missed anything that I would label essential. Thank you for the thoughtful content!
🥰 loved the quiet time with Jesus tip and the read aloud tip!!
My favorite essentials you mentjoned are the quiet time in prayer for mom. Definitely much needed. And the library card. When we started homeschooling a few years back the library was such an important resource - not only for books but for story time where they could get out and interact with other kids. ❤
Yes! We love storytime! It was a must when my kids were younger. ❤️
🥰 I love your genuine focus on Christ and the need to keep Him at the heart of all we do. ❤ My favorite organizational idea is the cart/magazine rack. This is what we use because we are wanderers, and I love being able to keep everything together and still mobile.
Yes! It's great for those that do like to do school all over the house. :)
My favorite tip is to choose an open and go curriculum.
I ordered the NIV study Bible just now
Thank you for the encouragement to make time with the Lord priority
Loved the Daily Grace Prayer Calendar! For the days where we are so consumed with life we can't find the words or know where to start.
Yes! It helps keep us in constant prayer and set out perspectives right. ❤️
