Just bought the large package deal, it was "on sale" for $297, since they took off the solar panel and battery (supply issue cuz of COVID). I told them that you referred me, so some $$ might head your way. Thanks for the info and video!!
I am a subscriber for a few months now and while I personally have no interest in chickens other than buying and eating them and their eggs at the supermarket I still find your delivery and editing to be very pleasing to watch. You are thorough and unassuming which is a great combination. For us,the audience to learn from your presentations Glad that this chicken light is working out well for you Harleymike/chicago
I built the same coupe last year and it is awesome. I never thought of lighting the inside of the hen house so you have giver me food for thought. I think my birds would like to see better at night instead of stumbling around in the dark. Thanks
This light comes on early in the morning for a brief amount of time to supplement the amount of "daylight" the chickens get to encourage laying. Don't put a light in the coop that stays on all night as that is not good for the chickens
I am new to your channel, I just watched this chicken light idea, and I really like it. My first babychicks arrive next week, so I am getting invested!! I love that the light actually raised the number of eggs per day! I don't know if it gets very cold where you are, but I also recently saw where a guy puts a little Cayenne pepper and Apple Cider Vinegar in the water to raise egg numbers in Winter time, he claims that works as well... Lots of things to try! :)
Do you add a heater in your coop? I live in Chapel Hill, NC and built a coop similar to yours. I don't think my windows and doors are very sealed and hoping it's not too drafty. Also did you add any ventilation holes towards the top of the coop? That's something I'm thinking I need to add.
I have never heard of the HenLight product. I am definitely going to try that out though in the fall. Our egg production drops by about 80% during the shorter days of winter. I like that it turns on during the day versus running all night which essentially keeps the girls on the same routine all year round. Brilliant! I just found your channel today and am impressed with the quality of your projects and workmanship. I have subscribed. If you get a chance - check out our small family farm channel and consider subscribing. Thanks - be well!
You should do a video on starting out with chickens! What to know, what people don’t know, things like that would be so helpful.
Since we have some baby chicks right now, I might just do that! Thanks for the suggestion!
This is great! I love chickens and eggs!!

I appreciate the support! Channel will be primarily woodworking projects, but once in a while some backyard farming projects will be featured

Thanks, it's really working out great for us!

Great video! My chickens cut back as well. But I have a roster and don’t want that guy crowing at 4 in the morning lol
I don't blame you there 😂 No rooster for us because I don't want it crowing when I come off of a night shift haha
Do you lock the chickens in the coop at night?
The run door gets closed which secures the entire coop!
But do you close the small coop door every night?
Is that a real moustache?
yes lol
