im starting a new stalker playthrough, and i find your guides very helpful. Im very inexperienced myself, with only 8 hours on the game with 20 hours on ps4. these guides are a godsend due to the fact that you have tought me all of the basics and given me ground to build off of. for that, i thank you.
This was an extremely helpful guide, gonna get working on this today, have never had level 5 fire starting before. You’re also a very charismatic guy, the fact your personality can shine through even in a simple guide video is very nice to see, hoping you get the recognition you deserve soon, I’ll be subscribing.
I’ve watched a few of your guides just doing research and at the end of each video I found myself smiling and gigging over your subtle humour. Not only that, these guides are HUGE. Earned my subscription
I actually did the badge in one go, it was really tiring, but i kind of made it an art work, I placed over 900 campfires in coastal highway each fire a new campfire, I laid them over the furrows near quonset garage
I figured this out on my own, but I started with using books. I first thought to do this after spawning in Mountain Town and finding a ton of books in all of the houses. I'd start a fire with the book, pull out a torch, use that torch to start the next fire, then put it out and grab another torch. I did need 4 campfires from the start, but the +35% chance to start a fire, 20% higher than sticks, really cut down on the tedium in the earlier parts. By the time I ran out of books, I was already to level 3, which more than made up for the reduction in starting chance.
Different take on it than the way I grind fires. Yours has the advantage of being able to be done in any weather. I used the small shed next to the PV Farmatead and used the mag lens when the weather was accommodating. They were stick fires though same as you.
Hey thanks for help. I got to level 5 cooking a couple minutes ago. If you don’t mind me asking, are you a teacher/professor in real life? I swear you sound like 80% of my college professors
Oh sure. Fires you start there count. That's what my first dozen fires I made while getting the stick supply were. I just suggest an outside cave so you have room to set several fires at once and hammer it out fast. Torch light the next as as the older one dies.
@@CmdrTom if you cook canned food and it gets cold and recook it you get a point so you can do your cooking to 5 by warming canned food again and again... I think... And by making hats I think you do your repairing skill, not sure about that... I liked your stick compass video
@@CmdrTom i saw the the guide for hives and its crap because you use a rifle so you are in stalker and there is better clothes in the loot than the crafted ones. in loper its better to send a wolf to a deer and shoot it and even if he runs away and you loose the arrow, at least you have a deer to harvest

I agree with this 100%!🤘🏻

One very important thing to note is that outdoor fires last longer than indoor ones the colder it gets (up to +100% at -30C°).
Just bought the game and had a hard time at the start but your videos have been a great help, thanks! Liked and subscribed...
Happy to have you. Stay warm!
so helpful even after all these years, will be practicing this later tonight. love the delivery of the video !

@@CmdrTom i will! you just made my day!!! thank you so much
Super helpful thanks :)
My game starts acting funny when I make more than 3-4 fires in one spot
Hmmm.... I wish I could offer advice.
Same here (on Xbone).
#13 and the minecraft music made me lol
I wonder if this depends based on difficulty level or is the same for every difficulty
same for every difficulty
Do captive fires count (wood stoves, burn barrels, fireplaces)?
Yes. I just like the outside cave option to prevent cabin fever
Ahh, just like the old runescape days xD
Dropping your mag lens would have made it a lot easier lol
True yeah XD
Wity the updated trader it's now extremely easy to get lecel foce and the 1k fire badge. Matches can be traded \o/
200.
What if you used some cans full of snow and passed time?
ye im gonna stay with the books
How many fires is one book?
These videos are so useful
Thank you very much. I try to be a help
My character that had level 5 died from falling off a bridge 😤
Respect
How does that even happen tho?
Just carry a torch on you at all times until level 5. The reduced fire change won't matter then

Nope, I work in a cubicle.
@@CmdrTom Damn, sorry to hear that
Do fireplaces and pits work as well?

IDK about breaking, but I would call it a focused strategy.
You should look at my guide for furs.
