Before you even showcased the sponsors (and they deserved the mentioning) I was thinking about how well you always showcase your sponsors without detracting from the video. You just do what you do, and do it well with good stuff. An amazing workbench built for an amazing cause. Well done!

    Why does "The Offcuts" sound like a band that would have you, Jason from Bourbon Moth, Frank Howarth, Jimmy Diresta, Wesley Treat, and maybe Drew from Fischer's shop? (Knowing Drew, he'd probably insist on nothing but woodwinds for instruments for the horrible pun. Possibly Wes, too.)

    Really cool project, but I can't help but worry about whoever is going to use it. The main feature of a workbench (in my humble opinion) should be stability. This one seems to easy to tilt to be fair

  • @jmackinjersey1
    @jmackinjersey1 10 месяцев назад

    Not try to poo-poo on your really nice build, but I'm just asking why you didn't simply build a wider table top, instead of going through all that cutting and drilling(modifying) of the frame? That may have helped with the stability as well.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  10 месяцев назад

      No 💩 💩 at all 😁. One reason is because this is going in a small space and couldn’t be made any wider. The other reason is because it allowed me to install the vice on the corner.

  • @Monedge
    @Monedge 9 месяцев назад

    I’ve did a similar build last month but also added a Converter Inverter for Bosch Professional 18 V Battery (you can find for other battery brands also), then added a Bosch battery and hooked the plug to it. When I want to raise or lower, I just turn on the button of the inverter, no need to hook it up to the wall. Truly portable workbench!

    Ugh.. The afterthought to make this a cantilever desk was painful. Especially modifying the out-of-the-box base instead of just making an oversized bench top.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  10 месяцев назад +1

      Not enough space for a larger workbench unfortunately, so that was the solution. Also, the bench vice wouldn’t have worked without the cantilever 🤷‍♂️

    Idea: recessed automatic bench hooks: use "push to open -door opener" from the kitchen - Fit this with the round profile of the bench hook and insert it into the hole of the workbench - the holes must be closed at the bottom - the length of the round profile and door opener must be flush with the workbench surface. When you press the round profile into the workbench, the door opener will pushes the bench hook upwards - sorry bad english....google helps

    I'm just wondering. Was there a size requirement for the bench? As soon as I saw you making the base narrower, I anticipated issues. Why not just leave the base as it was, but put a wider top on it?

    I tried the E7 standard Frame for a bench and noticed deflection and racking. Had the build out an aluminum extrusion frame under the top to keep it stable.

    Such a great idea for a light duty bench and wonderful cause too. The cantilever idea was a bad one considering its intended end user. The weight plates are an injury waiting to happen. Overall very wobbly too IMO.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  10 месяцев назад

      It’s only kinda wobbly when I put all my weight on it and I’m a giant. I’m curious how you see the weight plates causing an injury though? Luckily once the drawers are fully loaded, it should be a nonissue.

    There is a reason why all work tables have drawers on the sides
