      used to stack 6/10 cans of tomatoes on palletts and such, w/ an electric fork lift. those are the best. palletts should be treated well, as they'll stack better. once saw the aftermath of a new kid who extended his boom too far, and ended up causing the boom to simply lean on the stack he'd already put there. wasn't hurt. frontward motion should be impossible on a thing like that.

    I love how the pallet coasters look like better pallets than actual pallets. That's coming from someone who has worked with palleted freight and has dismantled a ton of pallets to make plank walls in his studio. I wish all regular pallets were that pretty!

  • @steveferguson1232
    @steveferguson1232 3 месяца назад +1

    Your attention to detail is on a whole new level. These are actually amazing. Other people making these would resort to 100% laser made with veneered plywood but using hardwood, scaling original measurements down is truly a scaled down actual pallet. Really, really cool.

  • @ramblingman8992

    Jackman, not every Country uses the same style of pallet as the USA.
    Over here in the UK, we used either standard British pallets or Euro pallets. Both of which are similar in design to Ben's tiny pallet (actually, his design was more like the standard British which is 1200mm x 1000mm). A scaled-down Euro pallet at 1200mm x 800mm would not work.
    However,ban Aussie 1m x 1m would.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  6 месяцев назад +1

      We get those euro pallets over here too! I like them because they actually tend to be easier to take a apart, although they're rarely ever hardwood, so I don't work with them often.

    I prefer my pallet coasters to be just like my life size pallets. Poorly made, 2 slats broken, 9 exposed nails, 57 loose slivers that could skewer a man (and have). Possibly even a couple extra slats falling off as you move it. BUT, and I say this lovingly, I give you an A for effort for making ACTUALLY good pallets.

    Hey Paul, always great to see you come up with outstanding products from crappy pallet timber. Though I wish we had crappy pallet timber like you use, here in Australia, we mainly have pine wood pallets, not many hardwood pallets about any more.
    That buffing wheel set-up on your wood lathe looked very interesting, could you possibly do a video on that and other tools in your workshop.
    I'm always interested in what and how people have set up their workshops.

    That was so beautiful, and fun to watch. I make pallet wood coasters that look like pallets. I have a lot of Hickory, because a lot of what I get for 'free' at work is hickory.(I'm a heavy duty body repair man and diesel/heavy equipment mechanic) Anyways, that's what I like to make "pallet-coasters, and trivets" out of hickory. Not the hardest wood out there, but it's inherently impact resistant, once it's covered with shellac, varnish, stain or urethane, or maybe mineral oil, they're very durable. Not "dishwasher-safe", but still durable, none the less.
    I made mine with a circular saw, and jigsaw cause it's all I've got for the moment. I really appreciate your attention to every detail. Great Video Brother. 😎
