The song was written in 1998 so it's around 3 years older than the first Ensiferum album. The Fantasy Metal Project demo which this is from was written between 1998 and 2000, and this is the first song written for the demo.
Shaping up to be the greatest metal comeback of the 21st century, and I'm all in for it. Really proud of Jari and the gang. Buy The Package. They deserve it, and it is packed with tons and tons of such gooode stuff!
As a huge fan of old Ensiferum, since the release of the debut, this hits my nostalgic feelings. Even though it's a demo it sounds solid and it would fit the Ensiferum debut or Iron without a doubt. I'm enjoying his demo stuff because it takes me back to the late 90s and early 2000.
This demo was recorded in 1998, but the vocals were actually recorded recently, probably some time last year or even early this year for the release of the Time Package. He had the lyrics ready back in the day but hadn't actually recorded them.
Pedro, I recommend you look at the description on the videos since Jari provides context to when those songs were written/recorded as well as other details. This one was done in 1998 which would have been during the time he was in Ensiferum.
I'm not hesitate a second, when I heard this Time package. I bought losts of albums younger, but only consert tickets now. August will be big, when download starts.
Jari is probably the dragon itself. His wild, younger days of scorching everything is over and ever since then, he gained so much wisdom over the passing millenias to be several steps ahead of everything and everyone, so he just magically disguised himself as a human by morphing himself into one (as some of them dragons did in some world of lore) and he then found music to be highly entertaining way to pass the time... and has been on that track ever since. WD = Western Dragon Nice to have more WinterSundays. If there's a playlist with that theme, for anyone new, there's going to be a bit of surprise between this and the previous video, where Antonio gets a growth boost, hehe.
Though I'm happy to hear old Jari stuff. Indeed I'm intriqued and they are fun to listen to, but I'm much more interested in the future and my Wintersun journey has always been about the Time albums. Dragon song and other old songs are great but they don't hit me like the songs in the Time albums do. Jari has improved immensely since these demos so so far none of the demo songs come even close to the greatness of songs like "The Way of the Fire". My absolute favorite of the demo songs so far has been the Wedding Waltz For The Dead, but it was only an introduction and not a full song. Also I'm happy that the future Wintersun material will be even better than the Time albums, at least in Jari's own opinion. THAT gets me excited.
I'm 100% right there with you. I've been thoroughly enjoying these old demos, but as you said they just don't hit the same as the material on Time, or even on the debut as well as The Forest Seasons. Jari has really grown as a musician, in terms of songwriting/composing, instrumental and vocal capabilities, and production. Excited to hear Time II and all the other future material.
@villekoskela9073 it's beyond annoying people like you saying that. To your ignorant self he's doing nothing. Little did we all know he was actually busting his ass working on all of his music. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, it's dumb to assume that he's doing nothing. How do you know that anyway, you see him yourself doing nothing? That's a very entitled mentality. I call you the whiners. Even if you are joking, I've read a lot of "fans" saying the same thing about Jari doing nothing, and they mean it and are super fu**ing rude about it. I'm honestly sick of reading stupid comments like that.
@villekoskela9073 You people saying that are annoying! To you it looks like he's doing nothing. Behind closed doors Jari was working on all that he has released.
Greetings from Brazil, it was a great pick! Here is a suggestion for you, the music Rainbow of Shadows from the Brazilian power metal band Lethal Accords, so you can hear a little bit more of what is coming up in the Brazilian metal scene. They just released their 3rd single (RofS) on April 20th, and it is already being listened to in Japan, Finland, and massively in Brazil. I'm eager to see your reaction video!
So, apparently this is a very early song of Wintersun. You can hear that. It sounds more like Ensiferum than Wintersun. I dig it, though. What would be the band name for this song? Ensisun? Winterferum? Winterferum sounds pretty great, actually.
At first I thought "wow Ensiferum meets Wintersun" but I dunno, this has WAY more fantasy adventure vibes than I ever really got from Ensiferum. It's definitely folk focused but feels very Jari. Great review guys!
I actually prefer the vocals to sit a bit lower in the mix like in this song. Imo modern metal mixes the vocals way too loud, and unless u are listening on headphones, the guitars and the chord changes become underdefined. Case in point, Eternal Darkness from the Forest Seasons, where u can barely hear what's going on behind the vocals because they are so loud.
You really ought to read the video description before or right after watching… it mentioned 1998 as the production year. Although your speculation was funny! Edit: also a suggestion to add something like (Demo) in the video title when a song is one.
Jolly, power/folk metal about Dragons and shit. I respect the band but I like when metal song kicks me in the ass .This one sounds like it wants to go somewhere but strays into the forest and stays there.
Ehh it was kinda boring... after all the Wintersun bullshit I need more then a boring plodding old not good enough to be an Ensiferum song. I guess im finding over time im just not much of a Wintersun fan, even from there first album there is really only one song I like.
Ensiferum stopped to be good when Jari left. Doesnt help im not a fan of Petri in general tho. :D You cant understand why songs like Sons of Winter and Stars and Time are popular?
Thank you for the AMAZING reaction! 🤣🤘
Our pleasure!

Sounds like the lost track of the dragonheads ep

Jari released 4 full Songs already from the Demos:
The Dragon Song
The Steel Of The Gods
Fountain Of Life
Red Horizon (The Pirate Song)
We have 3 more Wintersundays to do then.
lol, are those real names?
Pedro, I recommend you look at the description on the videos since Jari provides context to when those songs were written/recorded as well as other details. This one was done in 1998 which would have been during the time he was in Ensiferum.
Thanks for the heads up
26 years old song! Fckin hell!
My age
Way to prove the haters wrong Wintersun!
Within a couple hundred of 10,000 backers, early morning on April 30th in Alaska. Let's go!
I'm not hesitate a second, when I heard this Time package. I bought losts of albums younger, but only consert tickets now. August will be big, when download starts.
Now this is awesome; new Wintersun and the two of you talking about it. Thank you!
Jari is probably the dragon itself. Wintersun gave you a big plug!
I know! Jari is the man!!!
"The Steel Of The Gods" is even better.
Agreed, my favourite of the demos so far.
Best one by far 😍
Thats the best one for sure!
I'll humbly disagree but all the demos so far have been pretty amazing

I totally agree!!
Amazing theories at the end😂😂 Jari is a strange mystical creature indeed, but the music is legendary!
Wintersun is back!
WINTER SUNDAYS !!!!!
Literally, anything Jari does I absolutely love! There's nothing I've heard that I don't like that Jari has done.
yes when he does, usually he does nothing :D

17:25 my boi talking about old time hawkey. Love that guy!
I think these are made with a 16-tracker at his home before wintersun .
saludos desde colombia brothers

this song was done between 1992 and 2000, re mastered.
Jajaja me da risa como mueven sus cabezas jajaja😅
At first I thought "wow Ensiferum meets Wintersun" but I dunno, this has WAY more fantasy adventure vibes than I ever really got from Ensiferum. It's definitely folk focused but feels very Jari. Great review guys!
Way more fantasy than Endiferum, but the seed that would blossom in Ensiferum was planted in some of these demos
Dude yes!!! 🤘😫🤘

Not before but after is probably a good idea
I need to get my volume to 100% to be able to hear kinda anything on this one (all other youtube videos I need like 60%).
Sounds fine on our end.
I like it ^^
Song easy can be soundtrack for some Dragons movie..only music is excelent..full epic touch..
Jolly, power/folk metal about Dragons and shit. I respect the band but I like when metal song kicks me in the ass .This one sounds like it wants to go somewhere but strays into the forest and stays there.
This is a demo. You have to keep that in mind and appreciate it for what it is.
Ehh it was kinda boring... after all the Wintersun bullshit I need more then a boring plodding old not good enough to be an Ensiferum song. I guess im finding over time im just not much of a Wintersun fan, even from there first album there is really only one song I like.
I can't shake the feeling that Wintersun is like Ensiferum's worst moments. Can't understand why it's so popular.
Ensiferum stopped to be good when Jari left. Doesnt help im not a fan of Petri in general tho. :D You cant understand why songs like Sons of Winter and Stars and Time are popular?
L take. But it's ok to not like things, just move on.
@@joakimberg692Wintersun no tiene tantos seguidores en FB como Emsiferum y aun así no es justo que sigan comiendo del pan de Jari.
@@joakimberg692 Ensiferum took a dip in quality after he left, which makes it even more befuddling. Maybe the sum is more than its parts.
@@joakimberg692 Just listened to SoWaS and it sounded not just bad, but like there's something wrong its recording, like it's glitching.
Boring. Nothing happens.....
We're talking about wintersun, not your life
Brainrot. Try opening a tab with subway surfers or family guy funny compilation maybe that helps.
It looks like that but if it's fitted inside an album this should be ok, like an instrmental or a ballad or someting.
Is that it??? What crap
Let's see your song then 😂
