Did you notice he is using an extra long scale neck guitar and using a capo to get the normal length scale? He is a stellar guitarist. In fact, the whole band is filled with top tier musicians.
The singer Yuko Suzuhana was the catalyst in the forming of the band. The goal of the band is to generate interest by the young people of Japan in traditional Japanese music and the musical instruments. The stringed instrument played by Beni is a Shamisen and she using a Bachi to play it. She will bring as many 4 Sahmisens to the concert each tuned differently, plus a "tech" to retune as them as required. I have read that they more popular in Japan than Babymetal. remember that Japan is a different World on the plant Earth.
WAGAKKI BAND was formed in 2013 by vocalist Yuko Suzuhana with a focus on the Japanese-style unit 「華風月」"Hanahu-getu", with the intention of transmitting traditional performing arts to the world in a more pop form. ruclips.net/video/0m1y7m0HkvQ/видео.html / ruclips.net/video/2FMIv2lBF_w/видео.html The style of lead vocal (Yuko Suzuhana) is said to be Shigin, and she is a master of Shigin. Shigin is older, and it started in private schools and clan schools that trained samurai's children in the latter half of the Edo period(1603-1868), when they read Chinese poems with unique clauses. After that, it spread throughout the country as a culture in which samurai examined their poems. The one who sounds like a banjo is a shamisen,The one who looks like an arp is a koto, The flute is a shakuhachi, a traditional drum set is a wadaiko set. I recommend these songs.(MV)"Hanabi" " Ignite" " Tengaku" " Strong Fate" " Synchronicity" ( LIVE) "Hanahurumai 2016" " Howling 2017" " hangeki no yaiba 2018.1.27" "Valkyrie LIVE 2017" It has long been said that they will perform at the Tokyo Olympics. The New MV "Sing in'for ..." is clearly related to this.
They've had several different #1 albums in Japan and were even planned to perform in the opening (I think) ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. They are more popular than Babymetal or Band-Maid or Lovebites, but only in Japan (so far). I'm poised to see what their collaboration with Amy Lee from Evanescence in their new song Sakura Rising does for them internationally. The three string instrument was a Shamisen. Beni Nanigawa actually went to the band after a gig and asked them if they needed a Shamisen player. Edit: I am mistaken, just ignore everything from here out everyone. Mixed up Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band, which have absolute nothing in common outside of their nationality. Thanks IvetAI246! Gonna leave it in so your reply makes more sense. If I'm not mistaken their lead guitarist/ one of the leaders, Machiya, was actually playing in the Kami Band (Babymetal's band) for their first concert with live musicians in 2012. A year later he was more or less a founding member of Wagakki Band.
No, Machiya never played in Kami band, though if he wanted he easily could, imao. 2012 Leda was there along with or after him came Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikiyo Fujioka. sourse: babymetalnewswire.jimdofree.com/biography-1/kami-band-biographies/ Leda participated in Yuko's solo music though. Machiya is Machiya only in Wagakki band and first solo activities, everywhere else he is Shin Oumura. He has his other (made before Wagakki) band M:a.ture. Basically, if he's with the mask he is Machiya (note that he was like that in the debut of Wagakki band). "Homura" is from his solo album and doesn't contain bass ans shamisen solo originally. Beni saw Hanafugetsu live. Wagakki band had different shamisen and bass player for a very short period.
@@ohcomeongetoutofhere Ah, I mixed up Japanese bands. Sorry for that. I actually meant Shiren from Unlucky Morpheus, which has absolutely nothing to do with Wagakki Band. Thanks for correcting me! I'm gonna write an edit in my original post, so I hope I'm not spreading any crap I've mixed up any further ;). Actually one of Yuko's solo songs, Cradle of Eternity features Leda and Hideki Aoyama, Kami Band's drummer. With Beni, yes, that's what I meant. She saw them live and approached them after the gig. At least that's what's been told and written on different websites.
Hey! Love this band, hope you'll check out more from them! I'd suggest 雪影ぼうし (Yuki Kageboushi) or 六兆年と一夜物語 (Rokuchounen to Ichiya Monogatari) but all of their songs are awesome, just pick one randomly and you can't really go wrong. Also, for tapping and singing, take a look at Gojira - Global Warming studio session. This is the only time they played this song in a live setting. Taken from the description of the video: "We never played it live before, as it is a challenging one to play, and place in a set list. It’s emotionally heavy, and would almost “hurt” the rest of the songs in a way. We just really wanted to do this on camera for our fans."
Thanks for the review, highly recommend Synchronicity from Wagakki Band for a Jazz style music, and 砂漠の子守唄 (Sabaku no komoriuta) for a very unique style of music Wagakki Band are also very famous on great live performance, If you want to a review any of them, recommend to use live version, it is safer from copyright stuff
'Wagakki Band' is a Super-Band. All are master of their craft and they have more talents (like other instruments, teaching, ...) 5 of the members leading their own band/projects in which 4 do also vocals in those. Also Yuko Suzuhana teaches the Shigin singing (recite japanese poems). She won a national championship some years ago. 😉Funfact: The singer also does sword dance and back in the day Samurai had to learn those shigin (poem) It was part of their education. I can recommend WAGAKKIBAND - Bring Me To Life with Amy Lee (from Evanescence) from their Symphonic Night Vol. 2 concert. Just uploaded last week. Had goosebumps & chills. ruclips.net/video/hk1GtYK7BJM/видео.html or Senbonzakura ruclips.net/video/K_xTet06SUo/видео.html

That beautiful lady is Beni. Her solo on Shamisen is my favorite part.

Agreed
No, Beni is hotter than hell.
@@junoi7457 Exactly, Beni goes on a trip to hell to cool off after rippin it on the shamisen at a show
That guy has got great great tone

If you check out the music video of their song Tengaku there's a glimpse of how a flute player shredding the heck out
wagakki band is a nice journey.
also this band can cure depressions;)
Most badass flute player since Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Even a little tribute with a Tull-like knee raise pose around the 6.07 mark?
He's actually using that move to close the end hole and hit a high A, lol
