Ready to sing this Sunday
Hearing Chris's voice for the first time - in the first 20 seconds of Blood and Glitter in the Unser Lied final - was enough to make me look them up, and I opened a treasure chest I would have never come across were it not for ESC. What artists and what a stunningly rich, beautiful and diverse body of work have they created over the last 13-14 years. There's something for almost any taste, from metal, goth rock and moody dark rock ballads to contemporary classical music pieces with orchestra ensambles. You'll be slapped with a growl and then gently picked up by a soft piano riff. Next, Chris will make you cry with his cello and a tender voice full of emotion, before you're slapped again with a heavy guitar riff and some merciless rhythm. Bring it on and never stop. Oh what a discovery.

You summed it up very well. 'Loreley' on one side and 'Lost In A Heartbeat' on the other. I love both songs - and many more. And I discover wonderful new ones every day.
@@e.s.7272 Exactly, good examples. Or "I will never let you go" in the Gothic Meets Klassik version on one side, and "Under the sun" on the other. The contrasts are striking, yet those songs equally move me in profound, indescribable ways. I'm not even going to start with Letters to Home, Adonai, The Broken Ones, Black Halo, Death is Just a Kiss Away...
It was the same with me. I was fascinated by his voice in Blood and Glitter, I dived into their art and after two weeks I am the owner of 4 albums and a concert ticket for which I have to fly to another country. Totally obsessed.

Same, but only because I can't vote for Australia. Loved Lord of the Lost since I first heard La Bomba in 2014, but I've been listening to Voyager since 2005.
@@moventur Personally,I've discovered both bands this year thanks to eurovision and I have to admit that I love both.I'm very happy that there is more rock/metal/punk (Croatia) this year in the contest instead of the usual radio friendly pop songs (looking at you Sweden 😑) .
I love them all, but i also want to mention Gareds piano play, it really touches my heart and makes me wanna cry

What I love about ESC is that it makes me discover artists I usually would not know about. Like this band! What a song, what lyrics. And the emotions...

Exactly what happened to me. Since the German national selection I do little in my free time but discover LOTL. There is so much phenomenal music to discover, and so diverse, to almost everyone's taste. Incredible, versatile artists who create everything from heavy metal to pure classical music bliss, and so much in between. I've never got to hear one group of people make music this varied, not even film music composers are this versatile. A musical discovery of my life.
I suggest Thornstar (Naked Version) album from LOTL if you like this one!

There's also a great stream concert video here on YT, where they perform their own songs and also cover very popular songs (mostly in Germany) of pagan, folk, rock and metal bands. It's called 'The Festival Of Love'.

God, this band makes me feel so many conflicting emotions with their music. They are masters at making me feel alive. They don't need to say a word to speak to my soul, then Chris sings & my heart just bursts. Simply beautiful!
Thanks to Germany and the ESC I discovered this fantastic band and their great discography: Lost In A Heartbeat, My Better Me, Absolute Attitude, Prison (Gothic meets Classical 2013), See You Soon, Loreley, For They Know Not What They Do, Wie ein Licht in dunkler Nacht/Lighthouse, We Were Young, ... .
Try 'La Bomba' and 'The Gospel Of Judas' too. Great songs and marvelous music videos.
There is also "Lament for the Condemned" or "Morgana" which are excellent music!

I am still speechless that Lord of the Lost weren't in contention to win ESC, let alone that they came last. Blood and Glitter blew me away, I've had it on repeat since the show. Then I heard this today and it's incredible - so glad that I was able to learn about you guys from ESC.
The emotion in that performance was palpable; the lyrics meaningful and powerful. Gared's superb tinkling of the ivories married with Chris's voice is perfection. Sometimes less is more.

"You cry" sound like "Ukraine". At first I thought he said Ukraine. And the song really has a theme close to the events that are happening now.

Damn really? I know a few good German metal bands so if you want a list let me know because there is a lot of good music from Germany. I am mainly into metal music though so that is the only music from Germany that I can recommend, I don't know a lot of other German music just bands in the metal genre.

Another beautiful facet of this band's repertoire! Amazing ballad 💖 But: I think Blood and Glitter was still the right choice for this year's ESC. Sometimes you just need those contrasts to make an impact.
Yes, Blood and Glitter makes them stand out in the ESC, but I'm glad that Eurofans can also get to know a different facet of the band through this recording!!
@@vanadium163 Absolutely! I agree that this is a great opportunity to get to know the band better. I've seen comments where people said they were scared by the song and the band's performance in Blood&Glitter. I hope that this helps them to relax a bit 😅

@@AstoriaVerfallen I have not seen such comments. I think Lordi and Hatari are much more scary. Blood and glitter is quite soft and safe for an average listener, in my opinion
@@lina-qu5jk They are not many, but I've definitely seen those comments. I think it's mostly about the bits where Chris does the harsh vocals/screams. You don't get to hear that sort of thing in the mainstream "bubble". But I agree, Lordi looks scary without even starting to sing 😁 whereas LOTL looks 😍🤤
