That adjustable support behind the seat back (at 6:37) would do serious spine damage in an accident. I'm sure that won't be acceptable in the production version.
@Stefan Langer Merry Christmas! Thanks for all your videos. I save them and my brother and I watch your Glider adventures on Saturday morning over a big breakfast 🥞🍳🥯
Asking the glider community - is it better to have low or high wing loading for gliders? My gut instinct is that low wing loading / floaty feel would be lower drag from a lower Vinf, but my mind also makes a case for higher wing loading being a more instantaneous transition for the flow, which is generally more efficient. Thoughts on this?
You lucky people but all it takes is money. Till I get some I have to fly older gliders like the k6cr. But can't believe why every one does not want to glide. Great video and glider.
Because certification takes too long and costs too much for a ground-up development of powered aircraft. Sailplanes get away with a lot less because they are not passenger aircraft - yes, even the two-seaters have a crew of two but no passengers.
It's less confortable, you really feel the air turbulences. Long thin wings are more costly. Ground handling require more space. Those wings are heavier too for the same aera. Because they become thin. It's all compromises.
This is a very unpleasant post. I assume this person is talking about issues with the JS1 on aerotow with the extended wing tips and full up with water ballast which is very tricky if allowed to get slow. The JS3 here has absolutely nothing to do with JS1 incidents.
@@SuperReasonable sure. If I'm pleasent will this bring my dead friend back? JS aircraft are unsafe at normal tow speeds, consequrntly the minimum tow speed for these aircraft has been raised to 70 knots.
@@kensummers7757 I have one question: is it simply that the aircraft was being towed too slowly? You said it was maxed out on weight, and from what I understand of the JS1, at max weight the speeds are really quite high (best L/D around 70 kts) which I consider to be a MINIMUM speed for towing in ANY glider, so really it wants to be at 80 kts. What is your thought on this?
I want to get a glider pilots license , im not satisfied with just being a drone pilot i want to be a real pilot . Its cheap enough to get and it would be a dream come true . Ive been wanting to be a pilot for a long time

It will be interesting to see how the JS3 will stack up against the newer AS33 and the Diana 4 in the coming years - hopefully SH has a Ventus 4 with a decent sized cockpit in the pipeline, now the 3 is yesterdays glider and can only accommodate stick insects or jockey's in the racing version.
@@SteFly ............as long as it doesn't have the silly small cockpit........IGC really needs to mandate a minimum cockpit size that can accommodate the larger pilot i.e. the Goudriaan test
@@Winniethepopo Also more drag - ever seen a V3 Performance win a World champs or major continental competition? Maybe read what I have written - quite clearly stated Ventus 3 racing version! Gliders like the 'a' model SH's and Diana 2's with stupidly small cockpits can give a significant performance advantage, and also there are safety considerations to consider with larger pilots trying to squeeze themselves into these small cockpits...its a practice IGC should have sorted years ago when Klaus built the 'a model' for Brigitte ............
That is one beautiful Sailplane! Love the rpt Gator Inspection over Mooirivier.
This man is living my dream. Keep up the good work Stefan!
Vielen Dank
Viel Spaß damit!
Very nice and well-finished glider. Thank you, Stefan, for this review.
Appreciate your comment!
Sleek and gorgeous! 😍😍😍
What a beauty! Great review Stefan. Hope you have some better weather there soon... Enjoy!
Thank you! I´m already back home ;)
Awesome maschine ! Beautiful sailplane !
this plane… pure love! 😇💜
I do understand your choice 👍
Now thats the way to end a flight! Low and fast!
Beautiful, thank you Stefan! Hope the weather hasn't put too much of a damper on things, it's really strange for SA for this time of the year.
It was a great journey to SA but without much flying.
Looks like a great glider for competition. I'm curious to see how it will play out once a few pilots are sitting in the JS3.
So sleek and so quiet in the cockpit!
Amazing glider!
How lucky are you to test fly such a beauty?! 🙂
What a beautiful white bird !
Seriously slick body! Can see that getting the wings packed wouldn't be too fun though.
Beautiful!!
Looks gorgeous. Great bit of kit .

thats an interesting and valid point for JS to take on

I would love to take it up ! No question about it.

Hi Stefan, that sailplane looks fantastic! Can you tell us about the wing? It looks as if it has a number of different airfoils in its design.

Jonkers not Junkers - no association. You will need to go to the gym.
die meisten haben eine Ladung von 110kg aber mit Fallschirm, also so c.a 100kg
Wow wow we wow
I told you that Stephan's favourite glider is the JS3
Hi Stefan, very nice glider , did you find crocs?🤭🤭 Thanks for sharing.
Nooo, there are no crocs around Potchefstroom 😂
Awesome Glider, I would love to own one. Im definitely going to check potch out in the future and see if i can spot some fish... ☁️☁️
+1 for me, please!
I stay quite close to Potch and never knew it was such a fun location to fly gliders, wonder if someone fishing at the dam recorded the flyby.
Awesome Glider!! What is the pricing ?
How much it costs ?

It's not always about the material, more about the adventure. I also love flying my LS3, which is also old and compareable cheap to new gliders.
Maravilloso
How did you like that region of South Africa?
What about insurence? Problems?
where did you learn to fly?

Such an awesome glider. I dream to fit a jet engine in it and fly it in the USA
Most beautiful glider.... How much does it cost !!????
200,000 -250,000 Euros maybe more - signed sealed delivered to Europe with tax instruments trailer etc. depending on options......

Where was the engine?
Flying in SA is like being surrounded by walls of a volcanoe. There’s all that smoke.
If these aerodynamics are so good why are light powered aircraft not using the aero dynamics for better powered flight.Could someone please elaborate!

What does that mean? More critical? I'm critical of the seat - crash safety is damn near zero with carbon fiber. It will simply shatter.
