He reminded people that the Japanese also did a lot of genocide in the Philippines. He was exposing how people get unsettled about something and find another thing that'd just as bad funny. A bit of a poke to the society using accurate historical parallels. The amazing part was that he came up with that line right off the top his head when he heard the audience when he said the German gf joke.
