Takes me back to the "Good Old days", when life was care free, no problems, and love was in the air! "A Summer Place" my favorite movie, and music of all time!
I still remember my father played this song every Sunday morning on an old stereo we had. I can still see that stereo up against the picture window, with the Sunday morning sunlight shining through, and hearing this song playing over and over while my father layed on the floor reading the Sunday newspaper.

Yes it was a wonderful world back then..If you had no money in your pocket and only could play outside with your friends, climb a tree or dig a big hole in the ground and play in the dirt and take a walk or ride a bicycle you were in happy times and looked forward to every day as a adventure And Going to the neighborhood market with a few pennies to buy some penny candy was a real treat. What a great Time it was...No electronic games no cell phones..

A beautiful and sad song at the same time to me. Troy Donahue and Sandra Dee both died in their 60s.
This was the best music I have ever heard..So relaxing & you couldn't help but to fall in love...Those days were just amazing..The movies were just unbelivable, the music & the actors..I have not gone to a movie in yrs..Its like what happened..I can't till you how many times I have watched Summer Place. So tragic about Troy Donahue & Sandra Dees life..
I loved all of Troy Donahue's movies. A Summer Place, Parrish, Susan Slade, and of course Rome Adventure. I saw Parrish so many times that I was inspired to learn about the tobacco industry along the Connecticut River Valley. This was 40 years before anyone knew of the Internet, so researching topics like that was difficult. Shade tobacco for cigars. As a teenager I daydreamed about going to Connecticut and working on a shade tobacco farm, meeting a boy like Troy Donahue. Parrish was Claudetter Colbert's last movie. She played Parrish's mother. Those were precious days.
The theme has been magic since I heard it the 50's. I think I now understand why. It expresses innocence and longing in the high strings while the triplet chords suggests commonplace reality. A situation many of us have felt when first infatuated by romantic attraction that may be impossible.
The music takes me back to the heady days when I was a teenager with no worries, no cares, a nice girl called Maralyn Diamond holding my hand and we played this music a 1,000 times on my tape player - Wonderful music and a delightful 14 year old girl with me a 15 year old boy -MMMMMMM - Take me back 55 years
Awwww, a very nice movie.....the era of innocence very well played by both Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue, and the theme song is great, very beautiful indeed. I downloaded “A Summer Place” song on my IPhone by Percy Faith and as a ringtone which I played it all the time. Great movie with superb acting and a great script. Love and romance! Love it 😍 It never gets old......and I am the “incurable romantic” , always have been and will be no matter what and this movie is that......very lovely film. This rendition by Mancini reminds me of the evening my mother played this as I stared out into the night after having brought my father to the airport to join his fellow Special Forces as they left for Vietnam. I was only six. We lost Papa late last year and I miss him so much and it brings tears to my eyes listening now as it did 54 years ago. I love you Papa.
I had such a crush on Troy Donahue, had picture of him all over my bedroom that I had cut out of the teen magazines! I was probably 14 or 15, now I am 71 but it brings back such good memories when life was innocent!
First time I've ever heard A Summer Place theme was back in 1974, in my 5th grade choir class. Our music teacher Ms Lowe introduce the theme by playing it on the piano for us..She also gave us the words to it as well. I'm proud to say she had me sang lead..I instantly fell in love with it, and this type of music. Thank you Ms Lowe for introducing such beautiful music that I cherish and love to this day. And thank you Ms Judy yip for your comments that evokes such memories for me of those times..
It was my first date with a boyfriend I was with for 7 years, such lovely carefree times. We’re 1000s of miles apart with grandkids, but still email friends 60 years later ❤️
Why those actors are dead, and none for the past two decades will do movies like this movie. Just not enough C.G.I. or violence. Hate has sent love out the side door. And as I see it the actors for this twenty first century don't have that talent. Sad grin.

My parents had a summer home on the Ocean in Southern NJ , years ago. I remember them sitting outside on the deck on the weekends , playing Sinatra, this music drinking whatever.... Man I wish we still had that place!
Troy and Sandra were so good in this movie. How tragic their lives ended the way they did, Sandra Dee was an excellent actress. This is very sad to watch.
