I've definitely been in flow before. I feel like I'm in control of the world. Even when I'm put in 1vX scenarios, I am confident that I can pull it off and I often do when I'm in flow. Flow is so powerful and if any decent player is able to achieve it during a session, they're almost unstoppable.
It's even deeper than that, you don't think about being confident or not, you just cease to think and just concentrate on doing it, then you realize what you did after it already happened. One time in battlefield 1 i was alone defending/re-taking one point, and was so concentrated in pushing, retreating, shooting, healing, outsmarting and stuff that i didn't even realize how many i killed until the end when i got reinforcements, i think i killed 5-6 enemies in the span of a few seconds from all directions that were hunting for me and then even more. Then i just stopped and said "did i just do that?"
Happened to me the other day and I was able to 1v3, though the next day I had too much going on and was unable to play to the same degree. Like patty cakes mentions having outside stress eliminated really helps focus
Flow state was something that I first learned about while playing titanfall 2 and holy shit I felt like a god when I got into flow state. Flying across the map, wall running, and tracking perfectly
The best feelings are when you clutch a 1v5 like a total mad insane monster, and with the voice chat on you can hear your teammates going mad and crazy while spectating you. Man that's the best feeling 🔥
So here is what helps getting into the "flow": 1. Enough sleep 2. Don't be hungry or thirsty 3. Solve all your problems in real life 1v5? Not a problem for you :)

It wasn't me but the only reason I ever use the thumbs down button is to train the algorithm. If I go back to my home page the video will probably be gone and I won't be able to find the "Don't recommend channel" menu. If creators want to take it personally that's too bad but that's not why the button is there, IMO. Also the answer to the question the video poses is weed.

It should help the algorithm get it right for you more often, and I believe it does help the content creator (assuming most people do actually like the video overall)

I learnt this properly over 10 years of my life competing in international martial arts (specifically shotokan karate) where pressure is extremely high and flow state is required to succeed. Recently (in the grand scheme of things) I have applied this idea to videogames, specifically Destiny but also Apex Legends and have had a complete reformation of my PvP stats with me going from utterly average to enjoying really intense trials games and 1vX scenarios
One thing you can’t ignore or overlook is the strong correlation between physical health/fitness, and accessibility of your Flow State. Addressing health & fitness is going to impact this hugely for anyone unfamiliar or having difficulty. My $0.02 cents from having been 400lbs as a teenager to 200lbs and truly fit today.

The subconscious distractions make so much more sense now. It completes explains why all of my flow states have happened in the summer, and while listening to ambient music while I play. Without homework to worry about, and work being done before I play, it allows me to focus completely on the game. The human brain is honestly fricken amazing.
this made me realize just how stressful gaming has become for me. 2 years ago I could go into the flow state almost every match, the last time I was in the zone was months ago
from my experience, i find listening to music enables me to do tasks a tremendous amount better than not, and while i may not be right, I believe it could be because listening to it almost sets you in 'the mood' to do said thing
Same with me and now it scientifically makes sense lol. Since I'm focused on the music and the game at the same time it forces you to forget ab everything else and helps you get into the flow
I genuinely love how one of the most valuable pieces of advice here to perform well in a game is essentially "get your shit together," or rather, "we work before we play," and it really should be a golden rule of gaming (at the very least it would be a kryptonite to toxicity). This video has given me a fresh perspective on how to approach the game in general, not just aiming to improve my K/D ratio. A healthy game/life balance is far better than the dark path of choosing to neglect reality in order to achieve a state of flow. Eventually, the match ends.

Being in flow is almost like being able to see the your action before it happens. And then when you do something amazing, you're not really surprised because it's almost like you knew it would happen in the first place.

I entered flow state when I was sniping in cod mobile. In that round I was an ABSOLUTE MONSTER. And very correctly stated here- Whatever I was doing was purely on instincts. I put on the song - industry baby, and started slaying. Although I would want to say one thing, I was extremely tired and my head was literally aching after those 10 mins. I never had such exhaustion after playing a match before. Oh my god, I felt so good after that match. I'm glad I screen recorded those 10 minutes :)
I was playing earlier and was doing some elimination and I got all kills from the 5 rounds and I was pretty impressed I did what this vid said it helped so much thanks dude
It feels really good once you get into this state of being. I've always tried to picture myself doing some insane plays and absolutely outplaying and out-maneuvering the entire enemy team when ever i want to get into flow and i think that has definitely helped. I've pulled such clutch comebacks thanks to the flow state. I think definitely one of my main stimuli for getting into the flow state is playing with my clan mates, i always seem to want to perform my absolute best so i can also feel comfortable standing on equal grounds with them. Getting into this state for a decent player like me, i feel almost untouchable.
I have been interested in this for a long time, and prior to this video I was the only person I'd ever heard of who combined tDCS with Destiny. I have a tDCS machine and occasionally use it to try and cultivate a flow state for Destiny. I use the DARPA montage though I don't run it at a little lower power. I've found the best results happen when I use it for about 20 min in an aim trainer, then transition to Destiny and immediately join a crucible game, then finish about 10 min (usually one game) with tDCS. It doesn't reliably induce a flow state but it seems to get me close. Then if the games match my skill level well I can get some flow going. Anyway, this was an awesome video. So cool to see this content.
I think about this all the time, energy drinks, great days and having pride in what you accomplished makes you feel great and at that point when everything lines up perfectly you’ll be flowing, getting high kill game you didn’t think where possible for you
I've only experienced "the flow" while gaming on a couple occasions. In the real world, I spent 7 years as an R&D test rider for a certain motorcycle manufacturer. Over the course of about 2 years I accumulated 250,000 miles, mostly on racetracks and engineered surfaces. The level of concentration required to maintain safety while satisfying test parameters was intense. As I gained experience by riding in all weather conditions and surviving thousands of "close calls" and learning from them coupled with additional training from various high performance riding schools I began to find it easier and easier to achieve that flow state, which at the time I called "Zen". It's an amazing feeling. You feel as though you are actually in a slightly altered state, one in which time slows down perceptibly. I called it "time dilation" and I'm willing to bet many of you have experienced at least a small bit of this feeling if you've ever been in an auto accident. You can probably recall how at the moment immediately preceding the crash your perception of time seemed to slow down and the whole experience seemed to happen in slow motion. I always attributed this effect as the total focusing of all your conscious mental capability being focused, "right then and there". You weren't thinking about something someone said to you earlier, or what you were going to eat for lunch, or the name of that Damn song you just caught the tail end of on the radio. No, every bit of mental faculty you possessed was riveted in the here and now. With all that brain power available for the task at hand it allowed you to analyze the situation with your 5 senses in a very deep and meaningful way.
I play tennis competitively and when competition or an opponent is too easy myself and all of my teammates tend play much worse than normal, and we call that “playing down to our opponent” and can lead to a match that should be easy being close. So I totally agree with the graphic you displayed on the ideal conditions to achieve flow.

This makes soooo much sense this state of flow, I clutched a 1v2 in Survival the other day and usually I try talking myself through what the best move is but while clutching it I wasn’t talking and I don’t even remember thinking about my next move it just happened...
This weekend my buds and I went to Trials, we usually never get past 3 wins but this time we got 5 wins. At the end we lost due to the enemy team being more experienced and definetly higher skill but even then we lost 4-4 twice so it wasn't like we were demolished. I felt like I was in Migatte No Gokui and it was awesome. I usually can be in this state but I can't "activate" it, it just happens
For things that don’t take up too much attention but drown out your thoughts, I always find that piano or orchestral music is perfect. I’d recommend listening to the Hollow Knight soundtrack, it’s a beautiful game with even better music

Flow state is like a drug. I went from a measly 1.48kd in cod to averaging 2.6 or 2.4 by entering flow. Didnt mean to but when it happened it was amazing. Pulled out so many clutch moments on warzone and valorant by being in flow. It truly is amazing. Im going to change my day around a little to see if i can trigger it more on purpose than just being surprised by it.
I clicked on this out of interest and I just remembered my best “flow” moment, was playing Destiney 2 survival when one of my friends goes afk and gets disconnected so it’s just me and my other friend in a 2v2, we only hit Crits, had god like reflexes, great call outs and just over all badass moments like my gnawing hunger punch combo where I killed all 3 enemy’s, being in “flow” is pretty fun. Edit: just realized this sounds like a giant flex.
I used to play Rainbow Six Siege pretty competitively and almost every ace I ever got I could distinctly recognize that I was in Flow state just before shredding the enemy team or clutching up. It’s a crazy feeling during and after.
Usually when i go into the “flow state” is usually when im listening to music, specifically when im listening to the build up of the song, or when im listening to a calm, chill song, so I stay calm and collected to improve my gameplay. And when i get into flow, it literally feels like im in control of everything, i hit collaterals like no tommorow, i hit lights out medals with snipes only, im gonna try to practice to get in this flow form more often, cause i think it can help my performance in fps games immensely.
I listen to Gladd's spotify playlist when I play destiny. Its the ONLY time I listen to that type of music. But its music built around sound and feeling instead of lyrics, and its all pretty chill. I think its a great help. It was very helpful in doing a solo flawless pit run, and I even started using it in comp PvP- tho I keep the volume lower so I can still hear the audio cues. I definately think the right kind of music is helpful.
I remember this one time in Call of Duty 4, I experienced a state of flow in my first match after being away from the game for years. I got over 30+ kills, with no deaths, and it was one of the best matches of my life.
I’ve definitely experienced the flow state before. Everything seems to melt away, even the controller in my hands (I’m building a pc in a few days. Ik console noob). When i go into the flow state while playing with friends I constantly yell things like “I’m popping off” and stuff. Idk it’s prob different for everyone but it’s definitely a cool experience.

When I play on my own I actually play with the sound off and just some music, and I enter the flow state and it's a wonderful experience, it sort of feels like I'm not actively deciding what to do, I just sit back and my brain chooses for me. So this is that feel, I think I felt this while playing counter strike, it just feels natural to aim well and react to the situation you're facing its like if you don't think about anything, I know its impossible to not think about "nothingness" but I think its the closest to it, you are so engaged you don't take your focus out of what you are doing.

Yeah this is going in my favorites folder. I generally know more than most about this, but I didn't realize you were going to really go in with the subject. This is even bigger than gaming, and has good information which can be applied in a bunch of ways.
So this video came out right after I sat down feeling deflated that I couldn't find joy while gaming... there's an itch I can't scratch and I think that itch is to get into the flow state. Weirdly I majorly chilled out while listening to this and absorbing it while playing some Halo 2. I managed to just "switch off" and finished a level almost without realising. I've seen info on this before but never explained so well. So thank you! The part about dropping your ego is extremely important, I remember in destiny I would always think I was better but then I dropped my ego and for some reason I began to hit more crazy shots and I began to play so much smarter

I remember going into the flow in a 1v4 situation in for honor I was the last one standing both teams breaking me playing my main warden me and my friend were goofing around the moment I realized my situation I instantly went quiet and went into the flow and I swear to you I have never preformed with warden so well locking on and off to each opponent killing them one by one when I realized I killed all of them I snaped back out of the flow and took a minute to procces what the hell just happened and I legit felt tired after that with my friend lossing his shit in the background
Im always anxious and i can never clutch up or anything but when i started to read about the flow i started to meditate and it did help me a bit cause im also a really deppresed person and i was able to get better cause i started to believe in myself and boosting my ego
Super well put together video man, I’ve definitely noticed flow while going for a high score in tetris or in a competitive d2 game or the boss fight of a first raid, but as soon as my brain gets too nervous or anxious because of lack of knowledge about the activity my skill starts to decline. So i would say there is a very fine line of where our brains can enter flow. Otherwise when flow is entered it can become more fun or more rewarding to finish the task at hand

This absolutely explains what happened that one time I had to 1v3 three rounds of survival and managed to pull it off. Super and heavy were pivotal, but it doesn’t take away from it because I had to be super smart about it, plus we were getting destroyed before my team got disconnected (it was 2-4 when I was left on my own)

I've only hit the flow state after a big rage, I wish that didn't happen but my most notable achievements in gaming are after I just rage. After I yell I enter the flow state because I've lost the will to be mad or even be positive, I just blast music and play the game. For the longest time I struggled in Rocket League because I couldn't get out of Champ 3 and after a tough loss I got so mad I nearly broke my wall, but after that I had no emotions and I felt like psychopath, but after the rage I kept playing and I shot out of Champ 3 and into Grand Champ (highest rank in the game for those who don't know) and I didn't even realize that I hit 1615. I gained 100 mmr without even realizing it, the state of flow is the most weird but awesome feeling I've ever experienced.

Being in the flow state in destiny using ostio striga allowed me to use my sparrow to launch me through the air, gunning down enemies as I flew by, using the shield bash to launch myself off a wall and keep the fly by going and finish off an overload servitor mid air over a chasm and bounce off of it using crown splitter back to safety. When it's going, it honestly feels like a high.
Yesterday I went against a four stack from a PVP clan and only had one teammate on my side. So it was a 4v2 the whole time. For about half the match I was leading with about five points and killing the other team with just a bow and a shotgun. They all stopped killing my teammate and targeted me, but I was playing way better than I do normally. Sadly we lost, but the final score was 46-42, with me having 30 kills and almost 10,000 damage, way more than the top player on the other team. Needless to say, the Flow State is something quite amazing. 👏
This is a really good video. I came for d2 content, but I stayed for the psychology and knowledge. This stuff really helps me as an athlete more than a gamer. I play rugby and wrestle and I’ve definitely encountered the flow state before. This was really interesting and I want to research more.

from my experience, i find listening to music enables me to do tasks a tremendous amount better than not, and while i may not be right, I believe it could be because listening to it almost sets you in 'the mood' to do said thing

Same with me and now it scientifically makes sense lol. Since I'm focused on the music and the game at the same time it forces you to forget ab everything else and helps you get into the flow
I genuinely love how one of the most valuable pieces of advice here to perform well in a game is essentially "get your shit together," or rather, "we work before we play," and it really should be a golden rule of gaming (at the very least it would be a kryptonite to toxicity). This video has given me a fresh perspective on how to approach the game in general, not just aiming to improve my K/D ratio. A healthy game/life balance is far better than the dark path of choosing to neglect reality in order to achieve a state of flow. Eventually, the match ends.

Being in flow is almost like being able to see the your action before it happens. And then when you do something amazing, you're not really surprised because it's almost like you knew it would happen in the first place.

I entered flow state when I was sniping in cod mobile. In that round I was an ABSOLUTE MONSTER.
And very correctly stated here- Whatever I was doing was purely on instincts.
I put on the song - industry baby, and started slaying. Although I would want to say one thing, I was extremely tired and my head was literally aching after those 10 mins. I never had such exhaustion after playing a match before.
Oh my god, I felt so good after that match.

It feels really good once you get into this state of being. I've always tried to picture myself doing some insane plays and absolutely outplaying and out-maneuvering the entire enemy team when ever i want to get into flow and i think that has definitely helped. I've pulled such clutch comebacks thanks to the flow state. I think definitely one of my main stimuli for getting into the flow state is playing with my clan mates, i always seem to want to perform my absolute best so i can also feel comfortable standing on equal grounds with them. Getting into this state for a decent player like me, i feel almost untouchable.
this is really what i needed to get back into studying, it helps so much and takes away some of that sub-conscious stress while gaming
I have been interested in this for a long time, and prior to this video I was the only person I'd ever heard of who combined tDCS with Destiny. I have a tDCS machine and occasionally use it to try and cultivate a flow state for Destiny. I use the DARPA montage though I don't run it at a little lower power. I've found the best results happen when I use it for about 20 min in an aim trainer, then transition to Destiny and immediately join a crucible game, then finish about 10 min (usually one game) with tDCS. It doesn't reliably induce a flow state but it seems to get me close. Then if the games match my skill level well I can get some flow going. Anyway, this was an awesome video. So cool to see this content.

I think about this all the time, energy drinks, great days and having pride in what you accomplished makes you feel great and at that point when everything lines up perfectly you’ll be flowing, getting high kill game you didn’t think where possible for you

I've only experienced "the flow" while gaming on a couple occasions. In the real world, I spent 7 years as an R&D test rider for a certain motorcycle manufacturer. Over the course of about 2 years I accumulated 250,000 miles, mostly on racetracks and engineered surfaces. The level of concentration required to maintain safety while satisfying test parameters was intense. As I gained experience by riding in all weather conditions and surviving thousands of "close calls" and learning from them coupled with additional training from various high performance riding schools I began to find it easier and easier to achieve that flow state, which at the time I called "Zen". It's an amazing feeling. You feel as though you are actually in a slightly altered state, one in which time slows down perceptibly. I called it "time dilation" and I'm willing to bet many of you have experienced at least a small bit of this feeling if you've ever been in an auto accident. You can probably recall how at the moment immediately preceding the crash your perception of time seemed to slow down and the whole experience seemed to happen in slow motion. I always attributed this effect as the total focusing of all your conscious mental capability being focused, "right then and there". You weren't thinking about something someone said to you earlier, or what you were going to eat for lunch, or the name of that Damn song you just caught the tail end of on the radio. No, every bit of mental faculty you possessed was riveted in the here and now. With all that brain power available for the task at hand it allowed you to analyze the situation with your 5 senses in a very deep and meaningful way.
I play tennis competitively and when competition or an opponent is too easy myself and all of my teammates tend play much worse than normal, and we call that “playing down to our opponent” and can lead to a match that should be easy being close. So I totally agree with the graphic you displayed on the ideal conditions to achieve flow.
This video seriously helped me identify what was going wrong with my performance, clear my head, separate myself from external stressors, and refocus my efforts. We got 2 more people to their 7 win Triumph last night and I don’t think it would’ve happened without this video. Thank you!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

This makes soooo much sense this state of flow, I clutched a 1v2 in Survival the other day and usually I try talking myself through what the best move is but while clutching it I wasn’t talking and I don’t even remember thinking about my next move it just happened...
This weekend my buds and I went to Trials, we usually never get past 3 wins but this time we got 5 wins. At the end we lost due to the enemy team being more experienced and definetly higher skill but even then we lost 4-4 twice so it wasn't like we were demolished. I felt like I was in Migatte No Gokui and it was awesome. I usually can be in this state but I can't "activate" it, it just happens
For things that don’t take up too much attention but drown out your thoughts, I always find that piano or orchestral music is perfect. I’d recommend listening to the Hollow Knight soundtrack, it’s a beautiful game with even better music

Flow state is like a drug. I went from a measly 1.48kd in cod to averaging 2.6 or 2.4 by entering flow. Didnt mean to but when it happened it was amazing. Pulled out so many clutch moments on warzone and valorant by being in flow. It truly is amazing. Im going to change my day around a little to see if i can trigger it more on purpose than just being surprised by it.
I clicked on this out of interest and I just remembered my best “flow” moment, was playing Destiney 2 survival when one of my friends goes afk and gets disconnected so it’s just me and my other friend in a 2v2, we only hit Crits, had god like reflexes, great call outs and just over all badass moments like my gnawing hunger punch combo where I killed all 3 enemy’s, being in “flow” is pretty fun.
Edit: just realized this sounds like a giant flex.
I used to play Rainbow Six Siege pretty competitively and almost every ace I ever got I could distinctly recognize that I was in Flow state just before shredding the enemy team or clutching up. It’s a crazy feeling during and after.
Usually when i go into the “flow state” is usually when im listening to music, specifically when im listening to the build up of the song, or when im listening to a calm, chill song, so I stay calm and collected to improve my gameplay. And when i get into flow, it literally feels like im in control of everything, i hit collaterals like no tommorow, i hit lights out medals with snipes only, im gonna try to practice to get in this flow form more often, cause i think it can help my performance in fps games immensely.
I listen to Gladd's spotify playlist when I play destiny. Its the ONLY time I listen to that type of music. But its music built around sound and feeling instead of lyrics, and its all pretty chill. I think its a great help. It was very helpful in doing a solo flawless pit run, and I even started using it in comp PvP- tho I keep the volume lower so I can still hear the audio cues. I definately think the right kind of music is helpful.

Great video man. I find myself in a flow state in crucible probably once or twice a month and it's always awesome. You feel untouchable.
I remember this one time in Call of Duty 4, I experienced a state of flow in my first match after being away from the game for years. I got over 30+ kills, with no deaths, and it was one of the best matches of my life.
I’ve definitely experienced the flow state before. Everything seems to melt away, even the controller in my hands (I’m building a pc in a few days. Ik console noob). When i go into the flow state while playing with friends I constantly yell things like “I’m popping off” and stuff. Idk it’s prob different for everyone but it’s definitely a cool experience.
this information is fantastic and not just for gamers, pretty much anyone. it also explains why the creative types turn to drugs to enhance there creativity, shuts off there overthinking and allows for flow state.

Amazing video, this video gives me the perfect answer to why I play so well on my own whereas when I'm with my friends I play like shit. When I play on my own I actually play with the sound off and just some music, and I enter the flow state and it's a wonderful experience, it sort of feels like I'm not actively deciding what to do, I just sit back and my brain chooses for me. So this is that feel, I think I felt this while playing counter strike, it just feels natural to aim well and react to the situation you're facing its like if you don't think about anything, I know its impossible to not think about "nothingness" but I think its the closest to it, you are so engaged you don't take your focus out of what you are doing.
It's really interesting to learn about this as someone with ADHD, where I usually do better with certain amounts of background noise (sometimes I'll even play background music during a raid, with Discord on, because it helps me focus more). Extremely interesting video. Thank you!

So this video came out right after I sat down feeling deflated that I couldn't find joy while gaming... there's an itch I can't scratch and I think that itch is to get into the flow state. Weirdly I majorly chilled out while listening to this and absorbing it while playing some Halo 2. I managed to just "switch off" and finished a level almost without realising. I've seen info on this before but never explained so well. So thank you! I think you've just helped me chart the course out of this funk I'm in and get me back into grinding some PvP but with that joy I'm missing added back in!

The part about dropping your ego is extremely important, I remember in destiny I would always think I was better but then I dropped my ego and for some reason I began to hit more crazy shots and I began to play so much smarter

I remember going into the flow in a 1v4 situation in for honor I was the last one standing both teams breaking me playing my main warden me and my friend were goofing around the moment I realized my situation I instantly went quiet and went into the flow and I swear to you I have never preformed with warden so well locking on and off to each opponent killing them one by one when I realized I killed all of them I snaped back out of the flow and took a minute to procces what the hell just happened and I legit felt tired after that with my friend lossing his shit in the background
Im always anxious and i can never clutch up or anything but when i started to read about the flow i started to meditate and it did help me a bit cause im also a really deppresed person and i was able to get better cause i started to believe in myself and boosting my ego
Super well put together video man, I’ve definitely noticed flow while going for a high score in tetris or in a competitive d2 game or the boss fight of a first raid, but as soon as my brain gets too nervous or anxious because of lack of knowledge about the activity my skill starts to decline. So i would say there is a very fine line of where our brains can enter flow. Otherwise when flow is entered it can become more fun or more rewarding to finish the task at hand

Super and heavy were pivotal, but it doesn’t take away from it because I had to be super smart about it, plus we were getting destroyed before my team got disconnected (it was 2-4 when I was left on my own)

I've only hit the flow state after a big rage, I wish that didn't happen but my most notable achievements in gaming are after I just rage. After I yell I enter the flow state because I've lost the will to be mad or even be positive, I just blast music and play the game. For the longest time I struggled in Rocket League because I couldn't get out of Champ 3 and after a tough loss I got so mad I nearly broke my wall, but after that I had no emotions and I felt like psychopath, but after the rage I kept playing and I shot out of Champ 3 and into Grand Champ (highest rank in the game for those who don't know) and I didn't even realize that I hit 1615. I gained 100 mmr without even realizing it, the state of flow is the most weird but awesome feeling I've ever experienced.

Being in the flow state in destiny using ostio striga allowed me to use my sparrow to launch me through the air, gunning down enemies as I flew by, using the shield bash to launch myself off a wall and keep the fly by going and finish off an overload servitor mid air over a chasm and bounce off of it using crown splitter back to safety. When it's going, it honestly feels like a high.

Yesterday I went against a four stack from a PVP clan and only had one teammate on my side. So it was a 4v2 the whole time. For about half the match I was leading with about five points and killing the other team with just a bow and a shotgun. They all stopped killing my teammate and targeted me, but I was playing way better than I do normally.
Sadly we lost, but the final score was 46-42, with me having 30 kills and almost 10,000 damage, way more than the top player on the other team. Needless to say, the Flow State is something quite amazing. 👏
This is a really good video. I came for d2 content, but I stayed for the psychology and knowledge. This stuff really helps me as an athlete more than a gamer. I play rugby and wrestle and I’ve definitely encountered the flow state before. This was really interesting and I want to research more.
