As soon as I heard "picked it up at Canadian Tire" I was sold
Right 😂
That doesn't inspire too much confidence for me 🤣
@@justinkyle5025 idk when i buy the high quality stuff they have they never disappoint and their warranties be good
So were those cans 😄
Looks good! Two things: practice on a separate object first to see how a product works. Second, start spraying off object then cross over in one smooth stroke. Back and forth in small areas can give uneven finishes or dry spots from over spray.
No ding, just trying to help. You did a good job! Looks awesome!

Wise man one said
Shut up Robert!
Maybe also leave it in some warm water for a little bit before you start.
I've used this stuff to tint taillights, and it works beautifully!!! The subtle changes between coats let's you get just the tint your looking for without goin to dark with just one or two coats. Give it a shot folks you'll be impressed.
How did it hold up on headlights?
Tail lights** my bad lol
If I do the chrome bumper will it peel off?
@@dogfeva4319 I used it on taillights. Chrome wheels and chrome bumpers I assume would be a very similar coating if not the same thing. So just use the directions as directed I guess.
That looks sick bro great job. It give that truck a rugged look. 🍻
I used a plasti-dip type spray paint with a blasted titanium finish. The rough finish and mix of black and gray colors helps hide bug guts on the front of the vehicle. After 6 months, a little has come off, but in an even, good looking pattern. Eventually it will be easy to sand and paint over.
Great job! I think it looks way better blacked out. I am bias as I really like the trend of black trims and black rims! Fun to watch - Keep Going!
I always wondered how that paint kit whould look , look good I’ll have to try it out 👍🏼😁
Looks awesome...and awesome job on prep and process man!
when he went for the fourth coat i was like this guy is a real hulkamaniac
I love this comment
ok i spotted your video n was impress how its turn out , i wanted to blackout my chrome bush bar bumper to match my 2012 black avalache tks for show n tell
Looking up how to do this and seeing the defunctland merch made me so happy
I have a 68 cougar and wanted to do this on all the chrome. Appreciate the video. It confirmed It for me.
Great video, thanks for sharing! After seeing this, I am leaning towards doing something like this to my chrome bumper as well. I think it gives it an updated look and seeing that you can adjust as to how much tint you want applied, it makes it even better. Please update us on how it is doing now seeing as you did this about 9 months ago. I saw another comment that said it changed color on them after a while. Is your's still looking the way it did when you first applied it? I would really like to know how its holding up. Thanks again for the great video!
looks good, nice job. Going to try this on my wife's SUV grill & chrome parts
Great video really well made!
When spraying, from a gun or a rattle can. Always go all the way to the edge of your parts before you stop your spray, it will be a lot less work for you, and your job is gonna look better because you'll have even coats with each passes. Good job btw looks great! Cheers mate!!!
Yeah that spray pattern was yikers lol
@@thehondarice no shit lol... Easy Chrome Delete...and easy sandpaper/acetone/buffing/re-chrome those parts delete... lol
Byrne Didn’t clean the surface, didn’t sand it or use any adhesion promoter, no primer and that spray pattern was shite.
That came out really good!
Superb! Thanks for the demo!
I like your attention to detail. Finished product looks great!
That is gorgeous! Cool alternative to matte black or gloss black. I may consider this on my Ram blackout.
I think it looks great. It came out almost like steel blue ish. I think it's awesome. Great job. 👍
Used this on my silverado. Rear bumper came out great. Still there. The front grille and bumper came out nice but almost appeared blueish strange as that may seem. Ended up just sanding it all down and going black.. it definitely
Holds up well I think…. I would recommend it. Four coats is almost better but will appear less chromish.
"Yeah, hyper dark..." 🗨😉🌌
That looks great. Nice truck man
Looks really good 😊👍
Looks great nice job I would definitely paint the Chevy emblem
How has it lasted so far? Looks awesome!
I test painted a part of an old bumper and think I’m gonna do both front and rear but looking for feedback on durability.
Thanks!!
I tried using that product and didn't get the results I was looking for. There was too much black pigment in the color can and it came out too opaque for what I wanted. Didn't like the texture it left either but never got to the clear. Your results look better, at least in the light you were in. The sun gives a whole different perspective sometimes.
Looks awesome!
I like that black chrome look....Great Job 👏 looks Awesome!
it came out really good
Thanks I appreciate the time and it's a great review of CT products. Cheers!
I just ordered mine!! Thanks man great video!!
You are right it has a blue tint to it, I don’t love it but well done. If it had been a true smoked chrome it would look fantastic!!
Im sure the smoke would look better but the shadow paint man ,u did a hell of a job!!!!
Thank you bro will do to my rims.. Hey !!!!
It looks amazing
Looks like the “nightshade” trim option on newer Toyota’s. Kind of a black chrome. I like it
Great job. It looks awesome 😎
Looks good mate, nice job
Great video, Thanks
How do you repair the chrome areas which have bubbles ? Is there a filler that should be used ?
Love that look. Great video
THAT IS DOPE!!!!!!! (90’s slang) You did a FANTASTIC job!!!!!
Looks amazing. Thanks man, I've been looking for a product just like that.
Yea you really wanted "FORD blue"! Its ok.🤫 Our secret😂
What would stop you from using regular spray paint after a few coats of the black out?
So it turns regular chrome into black chrome. That's pretty cool. I dig it
Almost looks like black chrome, looks pretty good
Great video man, definitely helped make my decision. Appreciate the time & effort
Looks great, definitely need to this to my c63
Jonathan Olinger nooooooooo. Don't do it.
When painting any smooth surface u should sand or even scuff with a scotch bright pad so it adheres
Doing that on a chrome plated plastic won't work or help, those Duplicolor cans have a self etch in them that makes them adhere.
I believe at least using 2000-3000 grit will help trust me I’ve done many rims with that paint with and without sanding the sanding ones lasted 2-3X longer
Not with this stuff unless you want to see every scratch in it.
It’s hilarious watching two ppl argue over who’s right online. 😂😂😂
@@cky163100 oh i aint arguing with anyone just making a statement about not scuffing it up , thats straight from the manufacturer. But hey if they wanna scratch that chrome to lay down the shadow chrome then thats on them. But then we will see a video of a bunch of boo hooing saying " its junk" . Lol
Thank you, very helpful
That looks great . I still think I'm going to paint my front grille . for a solid flat black look as my truck is black .
That Escalade in the back color looks sweet
How’s it holding up for you? Should u wet sand it, or is it lookin good?!
I used black Hammerite paint. It adheres well and leaves a nice finish that is hard and chip resistant.
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
It came out really nice. You did a great job, its all about coats and not doing it all at once. How is it holding up? Did it flake off or still on?
Awesome job. Looks great
Love it bro, thanks for the video! 🍻
Yeah that stuff is pretty sick!
Looked great. Would love a follow up review
Looks pretty sick actually
Love the video, Love how the color came out !!! Quick question, If I wanted to use that spray can on my front and rear bumpers of my truck... could I just spray on the color or ... would I have to sand down the chrome first and then spray after ?
I’d do a light sand for adhesion if I were to do it again. I’m no expert though!
I tried it in my chrome bar chair, but I had the adhesion promoter first as my very first coat and then Duplicolor shadow in succession coats. I have the thoughts of it getting peeled off after a while so I applied the adhesion promoter first for better paint adhesion.
Yeah I think the adhesion promoter would’ve helped mine out!
What if you wrapped it with clear film? Would it protect it from getting faded and scratched?
But the job came out fiyaaaaa 🔥🔥🔥
Looks good my brother
I like to effect after it look pretty dam good and I would say a very cheap and great finish product. I was thinking about painting my motorbike metal rims would it work on that as well pls advice. Thumbs for that job.
looks good 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
That looks really good on video. Does it have a transparent look to it.I was thinking of doing my chrome spinner caps on my old hot rod.
Looks good Im thinking on doing the same to my 07 Sport Trac, thanks for sharing
Arctic 🥶 Level F Yeah !! , Subscribed
Two thumbs up......super ..love it
Looks Good!
How tough is it? Does it chip easily? I've painted chrome before and it usually chips or rubs through
That's not blacking out or deleting its tinting like you said. They are very different looks not interchangeable descriptions as you are referring. It looks really good and I'm glad I clicked this video because I'm going to do that to my girls civic.
Yeah it said it was blacking out on the can, its definitely smoked not blacked out.
Did it make it like a black chrome? And how was the texture? Smooth?
I thought it would look to much like chrome and not enough black but once back on the truck it looks really nice
Have you done a follow up video to see how it held up. Jusy curious on if there was any pealing or fading of any kind
Nice ....blackout chrome grill ... nice choice
How well has this lasted for you? I wanna do the same on my Jeep. I think you should of went darker it doesn't look very dark. It might look darker in person or something but when you put it on your truck at the end of the video it still looked chrome. Why didn't you blackout the logo?????
Awesome job bud
Good job very different'
Damn! That looks good!
Im thinking of doin this to my 2017 Lancer ES Front Grill Chrome piece.. do I need to Sand it? Or just clean with Isopropyl and then Paint 3 Layers on
nice execution . i usually get runs
“ I guess like a Tiffany blue? That’s what everyone calls it “ no bro that’s what women call it. Good video I was thinking hard about blacking out the chrome on my chev.
Wc fab (-tiff) powder coat paint code for Tiffany blue. That’s where I was referencing from
I would love to see how this has held up over time? How does it handle day to day abuse?
Me too. I would think using steel wool or a fine grit sandpaper first, then primer and/or adhesion promoter first would be a more permanent solution for blacking out chrome.
@@PatrickHenry911I agree, to have it more durable. I want to preserve the original chrome on a bull bar I would bypass using steel wool and do adhesion promotor already? To protect original chrome, I'm thinking to have layer of rubberized coating and blacken it out with applied adhesion promotor before paint.
Came out dope man, way better than regular chrome for sure for sure👌👍👍
That looks fucking sick not gonna throw fits like the jealous comment section😂😂
What do you use to edit your videos brother !! Good work !
Great job
"Black Chrome"
Looks great 👍😎
Looks great and I am a owner of the 2019 1ss flowtie in the bumper that is chrome on shinny black ...dont get me wrong I love it on the gray SS but the chrome bowtie is to much I want to blackin it .. I'm thinking of this product to make it not so pronounced..
So what’s the advantage of the hyper dip stuff vs this? Seems like the end result is the same. Maybe just thst the hyperdip peels off ?
Yo, did the same thing to my grill a year ago and now it’s turned a dark green color and lost the tint effect just looked good for a few months
No shit really??
Try in the summertime instead of cold winter.Unless u can't wait, might dry faster too.
Shit came out 🔥 bro💪🏾
Nice job! How's it holding up?
