That bumper looks more "factory" painted white, especially with that white lip that is on top of the bumper. Great job!!!
you called it
i restored a old vintage chainsaw and the plastic carry case was plastic and full of oil , i took the carry case to the car wash and cleaned it good it was full of bar oil ,, it was textured so i couldnt sand it , i sprayed it with some bulldog and i couldnt belive how good the paint stuck to that plastic , i even took it back to the car wash to test it and not one flake came off under high pressure that stuff is amazing ... bulldog is my favorite for sure on plastic , i hope that info helps you out bro !
Very nice shop! Clean, organized! And great content
Thanks for taking time to show the products you use. That’s very helpful for us newbies. ❤️😎
Just got a bumper for my charger, i knew pharraway would have the scooling for me.❤
Wow, you are a true professional. That looks awesome!
Excellent job!!!! Been thinking about buying some primered bumpers because I didn’t think you could effectively paint over chrome. I stand corrected! Again, excellent work!!!!
No problem 👍
@@PHARRAWAY hello. Do you by chance know how this job held up. Im in the process of painting my bumper and grill right now. Thanks in advance
Hey, I enjoyed watching your video. You have a great talent! Thanks for sharing with us, and the truck turned out beautifully👌🙏
Chrome is hard like stainless steel. I sand stainless with 80 grit before spraying it with etch primer.
i learned this trade back in 1990's in voacational school, iam thinking getting back into it again, anyways the paints and undercoats have changed alot, but thats cool no biggie, good tips as always.
Excellent preparation and spraying - it looks like a factory bought part
I just want to paint the chrome bases of my kitchen ceiling lights with Krylon... but I got a whole lesson here. I may never do this, but I'm glad I watched.
It really brought it out Pharraway. Great job 🤝
Thanks brother
You make it look too easy brother!! Great job!!
Great job, exactly what i needed to see before painting my chrome bumpers on my truck, thank you!
Just some advice from one painter to another. You may have wanted to use 80 grit then step it up to 220 or 320 DA to sand down the Chrome then maybe the adhesive promoter (not sure if it makes that much of a difference when dealing with chrome) then use self Etching
Awesome will try it
You're a professional, I really like the change of the bumper. Hope I can do the same with my truck...
anybody can do this
Literally got the notification during a meeting and got called out for not paying attention 😂😂😂😂😂
That's the proper way of doing it. Brilliant job
Nice job awes work and I love how you take your time going nice and slow explaining how you do the job right stay blessed my friend
Thanks brother
Looks awesome! Is there a follow up on how long this lasted? Planning to do the same.
Great vid especially letting us know the spray gun pressure
First video to see from your channel and I'm new subscriber now you deserve more views and likes! Great job 👏👍
Thank you brother apritiated
That's helpful video
thanks a lot.
I'm thinking of painting my chrome rims and wondering if the paint gonna hold on it or will fade gradually!, Sanding looks essential process also.
Thanks buddy for sharing us your experience 🙏👍
i've notice on these auto body and painting videos lots of folks have thier own way of doing these tasks, anyways, Clint Eastwood once said, opinions are like asso;s everyone has one, great job as always, lots of folks also tell me you can't do it like that or this, but i prove them wrong, i don't listen to knuckleheads.
Nice. I've never painted chrome so was curious about the process. Thanks bro. You do some killer work.
Thank You brother
Isnt
apoxy primer better for chrome?
@Raider_Robert i just sprayed some epoxy on chrome I sanded decreased and put a torch on it to get out all moisture and it did not stick well it would flake off with wire wheel
Nicely executed ✅
I’m so sick of chrome! Truck looks WAAAY better with the white bumper. Good job brother!
Excelente video, gracias por subirlo, siempre me había preguntado si como yo pintaba el cromado era la forma correcta, gracias por compartir tus conocimientos,Saludos, bendiciones.
Gracias amigo
Thanks for the information. That clear is the best finish I've seen.it'a shame,it's not available in the UK🇬🇧👌🏻
Thanks brother
2:30 I dont know why but I really like that sanded look on the chrome
yeah i sanded my chrome down before painting and it defintely looked better than shiny chrome. more a brushed aluminium look, nice and soft. no harsh reflection like chrome. but i sprayed black and looks much better
nice work bro! you should do a video of how to actually paint chrome, like if you wanted to make your door handles chrome. i’m not sure if you’d paint to make them chrome but if you do, you should make a video on it!
will try to research it
Would really like to see that also. Big fan.
I to would love some info on this, the only stuff I have seen is that crazy water/chrome application, cool but you need a different setup than regular painting. Another cool cat a subscribe to is “custom spray mods” and he used a chrome product that looked great on a helmet,I will try to find it.
I use 80 grit followed by 120 grit wash with prep solv two coats of epoxy sealer then I use 2 k primer sand with 400 grit apply base then clear coat . Will I have issues with peeling because of not using adhesion promoter . The epoxy seams to bite in and stick really good . I plan on smoothing and painting my bumpers and stainless trim on my 65 mustang I don’t want problems with poor adhesion.
Yes you will you do need adhesion promoter
@@PHARRAWAY the site you marked doesn’t carry it anymore can you recommend another brand of adhesion promoter if not I can buy plain steel bumpers but that still leaves all the stainless trim . Thanks for your reply. Love your channel . 👍
100% Professional. Nice Video
Can I use this method on valve covers and air breather if using high temp primer
Yes you can
Thank you, Now I can save some money rather then replacing the chrome...
How long to paint last before it's done peeling off or whatever
if done right about 10yr
@PHARRAWAY Kool 👍
Very clean job.... that looks factory
Thanks brother
Thanks bro. Good job!
Great video. Thanks for showing the products you used, the psi and how many coats. Awesome! I subscribed to your channel
Great Job ! Thumbs Up !. I've been wanting to paint a set of Hummer Wheels that are Chrome. Thanks for showing how to do it. Really enjoy your video's.... Thanks.....
No problem 👍
@@PHARRAWAY Qwik question. When doing chrome wheels. Like a set of Hummer chromed aluminum. Could/can single stage urethane be used just as effectively as base clear ? For more durability IE tire mounting and brake dust. Thanks again.
@@ronsre-creations5289 Yes it can
@@PHARRAWAY Thanks for all your help !
Solid solid solid job! Perfect
They looks good. I want to paint some 22s
Awesome job carnal.
On the adhesion promotor do you have to mix or just simply spray on? Also how and what did you mix your sealer with?
The adhesion promoter is the same is used for raw plastic pai ting?
Excellent explanation
Bumper turned out nice bro!
Thanks brother
Great job bro, looks nice.
Thanks brother trying to stay busy
I’m gonna do this on my plastic chrome turn signals, do I need to use primer sealer after the adhesion promoter? I’m gonna be using rattle cans from Dupli color. Also, do you recommend me to use the 1K clear coat from Dupli color or should I use a 2K clear?
it will work like that just do add the promoter
That's remarkable job. I know u have a husky 60gal compressor but can u give me some specifications of the compressor I would like to start painting I live all the way deep south ( Guyana).Tjank u.

Will any adhesion promoter work
Amazing work . . . . would love to see your suggestions on "average joe" way of doing this . . . without spray gun.
this is the way to go about it if you want a professional looking paint job, if not who knows how it will look, hey just saying.
Excellent job 👏 👍
I have a full paintjob that im doing. Im about the get the trim pieces ready to get painted and i have to paint the chrome bumper, it has a few dents here and there and instead of sealing it i wanted to primer it since it has dents. How would you handle this man? Can i prime it? This is my first time painting over chrome. Truck is going to be pearl white 😎 waiting to get me a camera so i can start uploading videos of my work as well 👍🏾😎
yes primer will be best
Do you have to wetsand and compound after painting?
No not at all
Nice job!!!👍👍💪
Thank You brother
Can I used adhesion promoter and then self etch primer ? And then apply regular primer on top of the self etch ?
Yes you can
If you have dents in the bumper when do you add the filler. Before or after the sealer? Nice job on the bumper.
before the sealer
PHARRAWAY thanks brother. Stay safe. God bless you and yours.
Hello pharraway I will be sanding my chrome bumber. I was going to use 80 grit and it has few dings on the bumper so some spots will be filled I will be using etch primer and then hb primer . My ? Is that adhesion is it for all sort of metal thank you for the video keep safe
yes works on all sort of metal and plastic also
Awesome job!!! ..shot out from Chicago!!
Thank you very much!
Excellent finnish and clear boss
120 grit is pretty aggressive. Did any sandpaper scratches show through? Another great video
Hay no tienes un video de como hacer un spot paint te pregunto porke haces buen trabajo
Gracias amigo si en mi canal tengo varios
How long do you let the bumper cure before installing it or a recently painted body panel
48hr
@@PHARRAWAY ok thanks for the reply
Does it have to be a sealer or can you use a self etching primer?
Watching
What grit sand paper are you using or recommend when sanding chrome?
80 grit
you do great work buddy
Say if you wanted to do this but it had heavier scratches would the prime sealer be good enough to fill then sand that or would you have to go over with a coat of high build up primer
Headed out to do the same thing thanks bro i get so much out of your video's!!!
No problem 👍
Seen some of your videos I like your work. The 120grit scratches wont show when you paint chrome? Never painted chrome before.
Not at all
I sprayed 1k sealer with a 1.8 needle and nozzle on a devilbiss gpg....it comes out looking rough, what am i doing wrong?
The sealer should be sprayed with a 1.3 tip brother
Awesome..
I have a 1.3.....definitely gonna try it. Thanks for the quick response.. Muchas gracias amigo usted es un excelente pintor
Hey brother are you in Pharr TX? Great video gonna do this on my 07 ram

Its the sameone
How much is too much?
Can you sandblast chrome then sand and paint?
YES YOU CAN
Man, you are good!!
Etching primer would’ve been better. But like to see how it looks ina year
Thank you very much..helpful.👍👍👍
Awesome work brother thank you for sharing your knowledge
My pleasure
that was a very good video thanks for sharing you do awesome work for sure !!!!
Thanks brother
Is there a way to tint chrome with candy?
yes there is
How is that done?
So that sealer covered 120 grit scratches?
only on chrome because you are just scuffing the chrome, you are not able to feel any scratches
Super job my man.
Much appreciated
I have a question would you recommend to use a self etching primer after the adhesive promotor then use the sealer primer over the self etching primer, I’d like to get your opinion. I have some chrome parts I’m painting and want to do them correctly.
No use the adhesion promoter first
Excellent work. Thanks for this.
My pleasure!
So we can paint over chrome with out primer???
As long as you use self etching primer
120 grit then paint?? Or did you use a finer grit?
I never knew it was possible to paint over chrome
No not at all
Thanks for the reply nice work 🔥🔥
Thoughts on using to no adhesion promoter and epoxy primer
You will not stay on for long
Ok if you use adhesion promoter and epoxy. Thoughts on epoxy primer vs 2k
@@davidp5456 2k primer is a build primer for covering slight imperfections, no corosion resistance. epoxy is thin and for first coats on bare steel and the final seal before paint
How to paint over chrome homes, pa la raza vato
Amazing job man! Could you possibly make a quick video on how to fix rock chips correctly
will try to do one brother
GREEEAAAAT JOB. NICE WORK. I'm in to do this to my big ugly chrome bumper. Thank U for sharing.
How much was all of this cost wise?
$200
Can you apply adhesion promoter over etch primer?
Yes you can
@@PHARRAWAY .. Thanks for your advice! Your videos have helped me paint my first car!
I keep hearing 2 different things on painting chrome. Some say using etching primer some says use an adhesion promoter because of the chrome. I’m gonna do my rear bumper and don’t know what to use. Any input on why you used the adhesion promoter??
use adhesion promoter for that
Would you recommend sandblasting instead of just sanding it down
If you can yes
