Tillkum was a tragic story. He was kidnapped from his Mother in December 1981 and Died on January 6, 2017. He should have never been held hostage that way. None of those deaths would have happened had he been left to live his natural life in the wild. God Rest his soul.

Tilikum was bull he had the smallest tank thats wut killed.him in reality if an orka has the whole ocean then it has a 67.3% chance of living but wut are the odds he could have had so many babies and so many girlfriend's he had to be put in captivity and the fact there footage released him being starved to death after they got all the sperm to make hundreds of baby orkas like they wernt gonna be like tilikum if u but a bull in a cage with nowhere to walk how is a 10,000 pound orka gonna swim in the smallest tank at seaworld tula weights 5500 pounds but has a bigger and no one realized that the animals are being abused.

Such a horrible way to die. Taken from his mother and pod as a youngster, held captive in tiny locations where the captive young whales couldn't move properly, sent off to sea world as a youngster with older females raking him with their teeth because he wasn't from their pod. Like anything else in the animal world it's families within families. He must have been terrified and then in order to survive became aggressive just like any other animal that is horribly abused would react. We went to Sea World and during the first five minutes we got separated, cell phones weren't really a thing yet so after twenty minutes of searching for them I decided to go and do stuff.I heard a kid say Shamu is starting soon, I went to the show. At the end of the show they put all the orcas away, the trainers retreated from the water and they announced Tilikum was coming, I got out of my seat, stepped up on the concrete ledge and when Tilikum came out of the funnel I reached over the glass and touched him with love and caring, he looked up with me and my heart sank to the floor from the level of dread and sorrow in his eye when he looked at me.

Its sad all around. The problem starts when babies (or any of them) are taken from the wild. They don't learn what they need to know to live wild and develop within a family pod in captivity. So it basically disables them from reintegrating with into their own natural environment since no one accepts them in, and they don't know how to survive out there. Hopefully the time when animals were taken like that is over :/ I heard captive breeding is no longer allowed either? Not sure if true. But its a step in the right direction if so.

As a teen growing up in a life where animals like orcas being in captivity I find true hatred for the people who took them away from their families and shattered the hearts of thousands of animals. I watch this video and show many more people the true facts of the animal shown and many more. It is my hope and prayer that one day these animals will never be seen in a tank but only in the wild where they belong. Sitting in what seems to be a bath tub to those creature deserves a new life and the people who got killed by the animal knew what he was capable of and chose to do what they did. Tilikum was very depressed animal who was took away from his family put in a cage where he was bullied and attacked by whales he didn't know and being shipped in containers that he didn't understand and forced to do shows that are educational their just their for profits the animal wasn't cared for by sea world but by the trainers who knew nothing about the multiple attacks happening through out the sea world franchises. Tilikum is not to blame for this but sea world and the countless other companies who think its okay to house such wonderful creatures. Rest in peace Tilikum the cruel people in the world can not ever touch you again and you can have love from Christ who will treat you with the loving care you so desperately needed...

Because the death of those humans should be the indicator that sea world should be illegal and closed, as it's not only one whale who is suffering but hundreds, not only 3 human lives that depend on it but even more who died because the human race believes that playing with WILD animals is funny or entertaining. The animals did nothing wrong, they are wild and have their basic and natural instincts. As sad as it is, it is nothing surprising that a traumatized animal is one day gonna seek for revenge. Anyone acting so surprised as if it isn't obvious what happens when playing with wild animals.

    • @starfragment5969

It's not that they wouldn't know how to hunt, they have instincts, it's been shown before they know how to hunt. It's that they physically couldn't survive, that there's too much of a drastic change and they'd die of a disease. You can't let them free, they're not a dog or a cat.

Tilikum the Orca who never belonged in captivity and recently died... The poor whale was abducted from its pod at four months old and "raised" in captivity, never to experience the wild again.
Imagine being taken from your family at four months, being raised in a prison, where you're fed by guards that make you dance around for treats.
Imagine doing that for decades. How mentally stable would you be?
Sorry, it just really strikes a nerve. Sea World should be a seaside sanctuary, not a giant fish bowl.

Yes...they are mammals, aquatic mammals with an intelligence we can appreciate. They are self-aware. So he was taken away from his mother (matriarch) at the age of 2. That is equal to kidnapping a 2 year old from a human mother. They are highly social and emotional, so the experience had to be scary for him. He must of been sad, angry, and confused all at the same time. Those feelings do not just go away for a mammal with that level of intelligence. He knew what happened to him to some degree. He might not had all the answers, but it was not a pleasant experience for him. We do not study the Orca Pods of Iceland like we do in the Salish Sea and that unfortunate but he most likely came from a large family or Clan (community). He will be sorely missed. He died in that crappy man made environment, made him sick. He could of been in the contaminated waters of the Salish Sea and lived longer.

I guess one of things i wanna point out is sea world calls them whales, but they arent even whales, they have no clue about the animals and have no respect and its disgusting. Dolphins are in fact close to twice as smart as a whale.

They need to shut SeaWorld down, and try to help them with their illness, then, release them.

I hate how they act like these intelligent animals are nothing more than emotionless puppets for their amusement. Look at their floppy fins, which indicate high levels of stress and depression. Honestly, this is probably the best thing for Tilikom, seeing as he's been treated poorly for over 30 years, death really was his only true escape. 1 like equals more hope for Orcas and more protests against Seaworld.
