Lots of info for you guys: Tilian has done some synthy pop stuff on his solo material. I think he sounds significantly better on the dance gavin dance stuff though. If you like synthpop and like his voice you could check out his solo album Material Me in your own time. Band lineup: Jonny was in the band originally for an ep and an album, got kicked out (most likely for drugs) and replaced by Kurt Travis for two albums, then the band was talking about breaking up but got Jonny back for an album to sorta reinvigorate them, then got kicked out again (this time almost certainly for being too drugged up to perform (I love his voice, but he isn't the greatest person outside of the band from what people say)), then Tilian came in and has been here for 4 studio albums and possibly the best studio live album ever (Tree City Sessions). Jon (screams), Matt (Drums), Will (Lead guitar) have been there since the first album with Jon taking a break for one album (I believe he had Lyme's disease). The bassist and rythym guitarist have cycled a bunch. The current one has been here for a while now though. I highly suggest checking out a few of their older tracks. These have had heavy moments, but nothing from these two tracks have the level of heaviness that they also can bring. I suggest reacting to Man of The Year. It is insanity, and yes they nail it live. After that one you can keep reacting to them if you want, but if you want new music to listen to you guys could probably just dive into their stuff yourself. (I realize you dont have the time to react to their whole discog lol, and these guys seriously haven't written anything I can call bad (a few tracks that I personally dont like, but all still what I consider good songs).
Yeah Tim (the bassist) was first brought in right after they finished tracking Happiness (the one album Jon was absent from and when the guitarist, Will, took over screaming), but left along with Kurt (the singer at the time) to make room for a reunion of the original lineup to do what was supposed to be a farewell album and tour (DBMII) but after kicking Johnny out and their original bassist left again, they brought in Tilian and brought Tim back. He's my favorite bassist, too. Check out his other band Wolf & Bear if you ever get a chance. They're signed with Will's label, Blue Swan.

Jonny craig wanted to use that name DGD for a previous project but it didn't stick. When the original dgd crew got together he threw it out there and they all liked it because the other name options sucked at the time.

Definitely check out Tilian’s solo stuff! He can absolutely pull off a pop sound. My favorites are Patient, Ghost Town, and Bones. Bones is a collab, I forget with whom. His solo stuff and DGD are both so insanely good. It’s some of the best music I’ve been introduced to in a long time. Also side note: Jon Mess is basically that laid back with his vocals live, too, lol. And somehow it sounds exactly like the record. Idk, between that and Tilian’s insane range and vocals I suspect witchcraft

There are too many great songs to name just one, but if I had to give one off each album - Man of the year, Count Bassy. Two very different styles, but both are true to the Dance Gavin Dance sound.

I don't know if people really listen to the lyrics, but i feel like they have a lot of substance, the lyrics, especially when Tillian came aboard seriously, especially...the weight on the lyrics i feel is under appreciated. Mess simply sounds like he's having fun most of the time on his vocals, which is great since it off sets the tone of Tillian's lyricism most of the time, balancing it all out. of course the instrumentals are always amazing. Overall great, HIGHLY anticipating the next album.

There are too many great songs to name just one, but if I had to give one off each album - Man of the year, Count Bassy. Two very different styles, but both are true to the Dance Gavin Dance sound.

They have four separate Facebook groups that are tied together in some ways. With Juggalos; you’re still going to find some shitty people in those groups. But, every fan base has some toxicity in it. For the most part Swanposters are BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Wholesome, yet incredible Humans with a thirst for music that is unquenchable. They deserve to be known by the sheer amount of them. Some of the Swanposting groups have tens of thousands of members. There’s even groups for just Jon Mess Lyrics, Church of Mesa, DGD + Catposting. Will Swans Dank AF MEME STASH. You guys should check out Eidola next, they are under DGD's guitarist's label and their singer is good friends with DGD he has toured with them providing I think rhythm guitar and backing vocals and was featured on DGD's song Evaporate. If you do decide to give them a listen I suggest the song Tetelestai. They are relatively small but soooooo damn good!

I don't know if people really listen to the lyrics, but i feel like they have a lot of substance, the lyrics, especially when Tillian came aboard seriously, especially...the weight on the lyrics i feel is under appreciated. Mess simply sounds like he's having fun most of the time on his vocals, which is great since it off sets the tone of Tillian's lyricism most of the time, balancing it all out. of course the instrumentals are always amazing. Overall great, HIGHLY anticipating the next album.
