- Hi guys!! In today's video I'm going to be cracking open a diary from 1952 that I bought at an antique store a couple of years back. I only looked at it once many years ago, so I'm curious to see what the heck is in there! Don't forget to be a darlin' and subscribe :D
Goooosh, I started school and everything has been very hectic! 😓Unfortunately I just haven't been uploading every week as I normally like to do! I love doing RUclips videos but I may have to scale back my once-a-week posts. I will definitely still continue to upload new vids every month, though! 😉
I was so surprised by all the letters and drawings that were in the notebook. It did end up being more of a travel journal than a daily diary, but it was truly interesting to read nonetheless :)

So glad I have my grandmas old letters. Such a treasure and really makes me feel for those who don’t know their relatives well or don’t have a lot of information on their lineage. Having these artifacts makes you feel so sure of yourself, like you have an army of family behind you.
Huh strange, my mums name is Dorothy and when I asked her about it she said her aunts name was Dorothy Roe and Halifax is the name of a town here in the UK, the only thing is my mum doesn’t know of her Aunt ever going out with someone named Bud because the man she ultimately married was called something else. My mum is now curious as to whether it was written to her aunty as it is feasible that in the 1930’s her aunt would have been receiving love letters 😆

Wow! That is so interesting. It could definitely be possible.
Diaries and those old child's drawings are probably intellectually valuable to some historical society somewhere. I say consider scanning it all and/or giving it to a historical society or group that would be interested in what can be understood from it. Keep it in mind when you don't have a use for it anymore.
I know old children's drawings could be of interest to those studying child development over the ages

This is why I keep a journal and use it as a scrapbook as well for the happenings in the world mostly through magazine clippings. Hopefully someday I can pass it down to my kids if I have any lol (I’m 22 now)

Thats So Ari I like being old fashioned and traditional lol and no one uses paper anymore and I miss when you could collect letters that you got and things. I have my college acceptance letter and stuff like that in mine. It’ll be interesting to someone someday even if it falls into the hands of someone who isn’t family.

This is really neat, it's fun to get a glimpse back at everyday life back then. You also see how in some ways things aren't entirely different from today

BTW on a random note, have you ever heard about the oldest roller coaster in the world. I recently posted a video about it if you're interested, it's called Leap The Dips and was built in 1902. I almost never self-promote but I make an exception when I think the person will be genuinely interested in something I posted.

It would be so cool if you could travel back in time to see what society was like back then, if so, what year and country you travel to?
I think I would travel to the 1950s in the U.S.! It was such a different time on all fronts compared to now, so it would be so cool to actually see what is was like.

I wonder if they took a heavy manual typewriter on their trip? Or maybe the notes were written beforehand and the letter about the breakdown when they returned home?
I never thought of that! My idea was that they probably wrote it a few days after their trip. It would be interesting if they took a typewriter, though!
