Great test! 5cm of thick cardboard is impressive. I can’t believe the 50 cal went a little deeper than the 68!. Very interesting! Thank you as always from Miami
Thank you my friend. Both revolvers hit hard. The 50 gets deeper because it has a smaller diameter ammo. It would go even deeper (ca 7 cm) if I use the heavy 86 grn slugs. Greetings from Norway 😃👍
Another good video! Hey Rune, here some tests results that I had for one Co2 canister: Hdr .68 16J but with gas restrictor hole drilled to 1 mm Hdr .50 11J but with valve block removed and gas restrictor hole drilled to 1 mm Hdr .68 got around 380 FPS with 6 gram balls, 3 very powerful shots, the last 2 very weak and that was it, also the penetration depth was so and so Hdr .50 got over 500 FPS with 2.6 gram hot glue slugs, 6-8 very powerful shots, up to 12 shots it was stock power and that was it. The penetration was double and the bang it did was comparable to a firearm. I would say too loud! I think I prefer the HDR .50 because of a better CO2 autonomy vs power ratio, penetration and speed better than HDR .68. I would say HDR.50 will produce more intense pain than HDR .68.
Thank you my friend. Very nice power you got from both markers. Yes the sound from the HDR50 is more than the HDR68. The 50 will have better penetrating power since it has less dimaeter. I bet it would hurt more to be shot with the 50 to, plus the risk of ammo penetrating skin etc.. 🤔
@@runerebel8441 yup, I would avoid shooting at someone with hot glue slugs as they have the 8mm steel ball that can penetrate at around 26 - 30 joules...I would use hard rubber balls instead
An interesting take. I have been trying to find some kind of comment about these two comparisons for a while since im trying to decide to get one or the other.... (without modding) or i might mod them and get all the attachments for them. but cool, i was also thinking the .50 as well
Interesting test - with black powder revolver in 44 cal it will go through 7cm of wood but it has like at least 10 times more of kinetic energy (like 300+ joules), still it is a lot of fun shooting those paintball markers, especially that you can do it at home😁
Thank you. Yes blackpowder is a nother storry. I have shot a lot with both rifles and handguns in my younger years, and they are great fun indeed. These days its only paintball markers, but they are fun also 😁👍
As for penetration I've only tested some target 9mm ammo once at 50m going straight thru 2" pine wood. I did not try any thicker and nothing unique with that, but I wasn't absolutely sure it would go thru with my knowledge at the time. However, penetration tests are always interesting. I got to test my HDP 50 at cardboard outside at 20m when the spring comes. Great video!
Now I wait for the barrel and the trommel from hdf.24. I have tuned my HDR 50, and it will be a bit more expensive hobby now. 12 good shoots from one capsule. I also have a Red/Green dot sight and a laser. on it. Easy to get hooked on toys for big boys.🤠
Yes they are great "toys" for adults 👍. Looking foreward to hear how you like the HD-24 barrel and alu-cylinder. They work great in my powertuned 7,5 joule version. Good luck and happy shooting 👌👍
My new 11 Joule version HDR50 outperforms claims by a wide margin. After shooting 6 rounds through to test aiming point, I tried a chrono test. Using 130 gr. steel balls, I saw a high of 507 fps for 74.22 fpe or 100.63 Joules ! This is without ANY modifications. It eats through CO2 quickly, only about 12 rds before steep drop off in velocity, but because I intend to use it strictly as a home defense weapon, this isn't a concern. Imaging a perp getting hit with a steel ball at 545 MPH !
Are you sure? Perhaps it is a chronograph error. I bought a cheap chronograph on Amazon and I'm not sure of the readings. Actually the cheapest chronograph on Amazon had reliable readings but I bought a different one that was much bigger. And I'm not sure about the bigger one that was somewhat more expensive, but was the cheapest one of its type.
@@earthenscience Yes, without barrel extension, HDR50 is unlikely to achieve such power. With 22" barrel extension and 1100 psi HPA, it can hit 100 joules.
@@earthenscience Seems strange. I have TR50 (7.5 Joule version USA), I took out valve block and it has no restrictor. I hooked up to 850psi HPA tank and it was outputting far greater power than my TR68 (7.5 Joule version USA). Sound was incredibly loud and while unmodified TR68 on CO2 went through maybe one or two cardboard, HDR50 on HPA went through everything and hit metal back stop.
Great Review and testing. I am interested with the bigger 68 Caliber because it carries bigger pepper balls in case of emergency. The only thing that stopping me from getting it is that it has only 5 shot magazine. I have no experience yet with that kind of circular magazine, do you think i can put those circular magazine loaded in my pocket without losing the ammo in my pocket when i move around ? I always watch your videos, keep up the good work.
Thank you my friend. Iam very glad you like my videos. In the USA it is sold with 4 spare cylinder/magazines, so you can carry them loaded in your pocket. Its very quick to change cylinders. Hi. If you like pistols more than revolvers then buy the HDP50. If you remove the valveblock you will get 20+ joules from it. I think that is enough power. The HDR68 is my favorite of all the markers, but I dont carry it around. The HDR68 give ca 30 joule if you remove the valve block. But its a large marker and can be a pain to drag around because of the size. So I recommend the HDP50. Use aluminium balls for max effect. Good luck
I tried shooting myself from a distance of 5 meters on my left and right legs and the result was that the 17mm had a larger bruise area than the 12.7....HDR 68 just made my pain area bigger but the lethality made no difference.
How many joules are your guns? I can buckle metal and my slugs will get stuck if I shoot a tree so I would assume something worse would happen if a person get shot. Either way, interesting
The HDR50 is an 11 joule version that has been removed the valveblock on. So it gives ca 18 joule depending on ammo. The HDR68 is a 16 joule but it gives ca 25+ joule.@@estebalstigopopoluz
The HDR50 I have in this video will give ca 16 joule with the 1,06 gram rubberballs. The reason it penetrated better than the HDR68 wich gave ca 24 joule, is because of the larger caliber/diameter ammo.
@@runerebel8441 understood :D so hdr50 with the valve removed and using devastator ammo(the metal ball with red plastic casing 4grams) will shoot at cc 20j?
On the HDR68 in 7,5 joule all you need to do is remove the valveblock. The 16 joule is maxed out allreaddy (I guess). The HDR50 in 11 joule has a valveblock, and that can be removed like I have done on mine. The HDR50 in 7,5 joule needs the Powerkit50 from www.homedefence-24.com to get max power.
If you drill the gas restrictor to 1 or 1,2 mm you can increase the power to 30 joules for the HDR 68 16 joules version but you'll get 3 shots at around 30 joules and 2 below 10 joules for one CO2.
@@Roman-bg8zb Thats abouth the same as my 7,5 joule HDR68 with the valveblock removed. Only 3 max power shots and two weaker shots, and then no more CO2. The max I got from it was 31,4 joule with Grimburg HP68 slugs...

I tryed to use my hands only, but since I have artritis I dont have the strength in my fingers I couldnt get it tight enough. I didnt film this. I think the collor is diffrent from conutry to country. The HDR68 packs more punch (energy) but dont penetrate as well as the HDR50 (in cardboard).
