As for your silhouette shooting my first reaction to your commentary is that the gun doesn't just "go a bit high" by itself. And I don't think you hit the same holes (although, it is possible) btw, if so, the same holes were missed first shots. Hey I've got the HDR 68 16 joules as it is more versatile than the undoubtedly prettier Alfa by Chiappa.Maybe next time.Keep up the fantastic job bro.Cheers (an ex expat)
Some nice hard hitting with the 68. But my 50 with HD24 conversion, tuned chambers and steel balls is a favorite. But the 68 could be on my shopping list, because of the coconut smash. Though my 50 goes through em clean as a whistle. Cheers mate.
Haha! You know? My HDR must definitely be underperforming, I’ve obliterated many coconuts with it in the past. Dunno exactly what happened there. That said, and I’ll repeat it, the HDR 68 is on another level. You’ll know it when you shoot it! Let me know your thoughts if/when that happens… thanks Jeff!
Something is definitely wrong with the HDR50 as that isn’t 20js performance. My 11j standard version seems a lot more powerful than what you are currently using. I would get that looked at as it’s definitely not performing correctly for 20j i would guess around 7-9j maximum looks very weak
Hey Dean, yes the 50 seemed to be a bit weaker this time around. The chrono test results were around 14 joules, and coconuts have been obliterated with it in the past, on an off and on basis. The HDR68 however is on a different level… in my opinion… Will indeed have a look at the 50. Thanks a lot man

I realize the age of the comments here, but in case anyone else lands here with the same question: T4E Performance Valve Tuning Spring For All .43 Cal Pistols AirFunners - The customer service is tippy-top, same day responses to my questions, etc.
I'd be very curious to see what the outcome would be with an hdr50 with hd24 tuning barrel and extension vs the hdr60, since they'd have roughly the same barrel length and the hdr50 should gain some power from the modification
Hi mate HDR 68 all the way got to admit it's the best one compared to my HDR and hds seems to have more power then my hds .tried them rap 4 first strikes against some targets and tins shot them from the hds and HDR 68 . They are very good better accuracy more speed and hit hard plus they fit nice and tight in the clip and in the hds . Hit alot harder then the hds in the HDR would recommend but you have loads of ammo about the same . Been looking at them bore sights for my guns as well have you tried putting Plummers tape round bores to fit the HDR 68 .keep up the good work mate
How do the piercing/inlet valve assemblies hold up? I've had a couple of these but the airsoft version (H8R, looks nearly identical to the HD 50) and the threaded retaining ring holding the piercing seal failed in both. Which sucks because otherwise it's a great pistol. The problem seems to be that the rings are made of some kind of super soft metal and deform/split. I wonder if the cartridge assembly from an HD 50 could be retrofitted into a H8R? It looks more durable 🤔
I think most T4E guns can be brought up to around 30+ joules. The HDR 68 obviously has the bigger caliber which makes a lot of difference. With the same joules mod, the 68 is just on another level. I would always go with the 68
Hi! Thank you for the great video! I am looking to get one of these guns and I read that some people said that the HDR 68 feels worse and cheap compared to the HDR 50. Could you please tell me your opinion on this? Thank you!🙂
Hi Rafael! In my opinion…. Absolutely not!! Yes it’s a lot lighter, but not cheaper! Lighter for me is a good thing. Also because it’s huge. If they made it like the HDR 50 it would be too heavy. I think the HDR 68 is on a complete higher level compared to the 50. Go for the 16 joules if you can…
According to my calculations, you are not getting the joules advertised from your suppliers. The HDR50 comes in around 15 joules and the HDR68 at 21. What projectiles do you recommend to get the joules as advertised?
The higher joules is only because I shoot in the extreme heat, as you know the CO2 is highly affected by temperature. On your other comment regarding accuracy, well, you’re pulling out a 2 year old video. At the time I didn’t realize how inaccurate the HDR50 is. Watch more of my most recent videos and you’ll see a much different picture
I use the like button to tell me what videos ive watched , this video was made last year, are there any stronger non lethals out now? After seeing the byrna ad i started looking at reviews which braught me to umirex cuz they are stronger, i want to get the strongest one and the strongest ammo also pepper balls. Also i live in NYC, a place where bb guns are illigal so im not even sure some sites will ship em to me.
Hey man, thanks for watching and you should have a look at my latest videos. I’m also coming out with some brand new very powerful air guns. It’s hard to keep up with the fast technology advance in the airgun world. You should try calling the shops directly and see if they deliver to you. Sometimes Amazon or other online retailers are a bit over-precaution…
It's much simpler than he says to remove the restrictions. There is a silver cap that unscrews in the co2 compartment. Take that out with a straight screwdriver and fire away.
Weight of the ball effects performance. Heavy is NOT always best. In fact the heavy balls tend to do badly when comparing apples with apples on standard guns.
An other enjoyable video! I always enjoy the trick editing! I have found that (?)brand of ammo to be less than tight bore fitting but i didn't know of the S type & wonder if they fit better.
Hey Damon, thanks a lot! Yes they are a bit loose in the HDR68 mag. Most of the slugs I have, do not fit tightly. The S-type are the same size as the regular (Acil Selling) brand ammo. I’m sure that as time goes by, there will be more and more great new slugs for this revolver.
I just wanted to let you know that, on account of your test results, I just ordered the HDR68 (16J) through the Wicked Store in France. Oww man, I can't wait to get it into my hands! Thanks again for the great video!
@@AirgunAlley Just got email from the Wicked Store in France that my order is on its way, so I should have it (in Greece) in a few days. I also plan to try some ammo from the Cododo shop (in Italy). From what I gathered through their website, they basically have two kinds of ammo for the HDR68 (16J): the "45 ACP TIP Pellets", which you've reviewed in a recent video (great stuff, btw! These little devils seems to be the post powerful ammo for the HDR68 that's currently available on the market!), and their own (made by Cododo) cal 68 "devastators". Have you perhaps tried the latter as well?
curious about something my brother , for under 15 bucks u can get a 100 solid lead 50 cal balls used for 50 black powder rifles , you should try them .now ,find a drill bit thats close to 68 cal , drill in wood or metal ,aluminum ,plastic what ever , first cut the block in half , then use vice grips to hold together and drill yo hole.fill with steel bb's and hot glue from hot glue gun , make your own ammo .now when i get mine ,ill look into making darts etc for it also .maybe use sockets standard and or and metric to pour hot lead or wax or plastic etc into sockets and when cooled push em out . you got ,6 sided and 8 ,8ples types to get effect your looking for ,you could put steel bb's for the weight ,use powdered copper ,steel ,metals with wax or hot glue to make fragmentation rounds . you can order 50 cal ammo made with hardened steel points and all types of stuff . you could get lee reloaders to make a mold for 50 and 68 cal any design you want . i plan on getting a remote line and bottle also for my 68 cal ,its def a beast at 30 joules . thank you for this awesome video brother !!! really f#$$-ing enjoyed it !!!!!

You’re not the first person to mention this. I’m glad they finally work somewhere! But the rubber-steel S-type balls by the same company are top, in my opinion…
Thank you very much, it's a Very good video, BUT please allow me to add something here... Please 🙏 NEVER trust other people's joules calculations, you should have calculated them all by yourself, always... Here are MORE accurate joule calculation results for everyone : HDR50 caliber 50 (diameter 12.7 mm), 2.5 gram, 352 fps (average) = joule: 14.39 Joules ! (Kinetic energy joules 11.3588 J/cm2) HDR68 caliber 68 (diameter 17.27 mm), 6.8 gram, 263 fps (average) = joule: 21.85 Joules ! (Kinetic energy joules: 9.3265 J/cm2)
I think as you turn the BoreSighter into the barrel it spreads the tip to tighten into the barrel atleast that's how mine has worked with all my airguns
Very true. But in this case the tip has to be twisted outside of the barrel, as there is no grip inside. I think with a rifled barrel you can get it nice and tight…
Thanks for the interesting comparison video really disappointed to seeing the HDR 50 perform so weak, my one with valve block removed ripped right through watermelon using devastator rounds but maybe size does matter 👍
Hey Mogamed! Yes I also must say that this HDR50 is feeling a little weaker than usual. I noticed afterwords. I’ve had some great results in the past. Regardless, that HDR68 I tell you! Thank you again my friend!
Hi, thanks for your videos. Attending to your own results in thesse tests, the hdr 50 is not 20 j but 14 j, and the hdr 68 is not 30 j but 22 j. You only have to use the formula e=1/2m*v2... On the other hand, I personaly prefer tests using only 'serious' ammo, like devastator... But I understand why You use other ammo. Best wishes from Girona - Catalonia
Hi Marc, thank you! Indeed those were the measurements during these tests. I think the “20” and “30” joules are referred to the average max power these modifications perform. You know, Portbou is one of my favorite places in the world!
Ciao Matteo! Grazie mille carissimo! Si, per me l’HDR 68 è su un altro livello. In più ha il calibro 68 che spacca tutto. Modificata diventa un cannone. Per carità, tutto rispetto per la 50, ma prova la 68 e vedrai haha

Hi Joe, yes the 50 seems to be weaker than it should. The power at the chrono test was around 14 joules. But the 68 is just on a different level. Have you got one yet?
Thanks for this comparison. You made up my mind which one I am going to get The .68 looks like it is on the cusp of real effectiveness, especially with some of the real bullet ammo that is becoming available. Do you know of a parts supplier that can provide a "reducer" replacement?
Thank you Jon, happy I could help. And indeed great choice on going with the .68. If you can, I would try getting the 16j version - should be enough power. As for parts I can recommend the one and only homedefence-24.com Best of luck!

I think you might be misunderstanding the difference between the regular rubber steel balls and the S-Type. The regular ones do not have an extra sprinkling of metal on the surface. It's more like the other way around. Both are made of steel powder mixed with a synthetic rubber compound. The only difference is that the S type has an extra coating of rubber around them so that there is less friction moving down the barrel. The metal you see is not on the surface, it is what they both look like all the way through. I think if you cut both of them in half you would see that. I could be wrong but this is to the best of my knowledge.
From the maker: There is almost no difference between the weight of Regular and S-Type products. But on one side, the surface of the regular rounds are mixed with some extra metal dust after the production - our customers usually like this shape and the feeling of touching them. On the other side, S-Type balls are produced with a special Italian mould and even though there is not a steel core, the steel amount increases direction to the center of the balls. These are not mixed with extra metal dust, in this way, the balls slide better with the rubbery surface.
@@AirgunAlley I guess I was right about the lower friction, but I was wrong about everything else. I stand humbly corrected. Interesting that the density of steel increases towards the centre. I would never use the regular rounds, just because the extra steel on the surface could not be good for wear and tear on the interior of the barrels.
@@techromancerzero2709 you made a good point and analysis! And you’re right, the smooth ones actually work better all around. They’re great projectiles, I love that there are 100 in a box!
Miami I like the content of most of your videos, but I am afraid you are mistaken here. It is not necessarily about the hardness of the two shells being different as I agree the “ hardness” of the two is probably similar. Provided of course one is not green and the other is ancient and ready to crack. No, the difference lies in the fact that the larger coconut has greater surface area in terms of diameter, or inches that make it weaker and more vulnerable to crack that a smaller more compact, hence stronger surface area. It comes down to the math of it.
Hmmmm… well, thanks for the explanation! And what about these coconuts I just released ;) New! AEA BinTac MEGALODON • Pump Action MAX POWER ruclips.net/video/AyG5jqxG-rc/видео.html

ruclips.net/video/af9Gm5dTUws/видео.html
I bought some 50cal. slingshot balls, but they are too big for the gun won't fit
Question is… where are the 68 cal steel balls???
Btw, that slow mo blow out looked awesome!
Hahaha it does. Didn’t feel awesome at the time, but you’re right, looks cool haha!
@@AirgunAlley
Ha yes I know exactly what you mean, I've had seals blowout similar to that happen, more than once. A very sad day!
Well, this settles it for me. HDR68 it is. Great content!! thank you!
is 7,5 J also effectiv for homedefense if you put only pepperballs in the magazine?
I think with pepperballs you can’t go wrong! Use rubber-steel balls for fun, but I always keep a magazine loaded with pepperballs, just in case!
The HDR68 however is on a different level… in my opinion…
Will indeed have a look at the 50. Thanks a lot man

I'd be very curious to see what the outcome would be with an hdr50 with hd24 tuning barrel and extension vs the hdr60, since they'd have roughly the same barrel length and the hdr50 should gain some power from the modification
I watched and your video is automatically subtitled and here is my friend
Aaaah et alor tres tres bien!!
It's very hard to be exact accurate with double action only so good shooting! The .68 might like a vert grip;-]
Well thank you again my friend 😂

How do the piercing/inlet valve assemblies hold up? I've had a couple of these but the airsoft version (H8R, looks nearly identical to the HD 50) and the threaded retaining ring holding the piercing seal failed in both. Which sucks because otherwise it's a great pistol.
The problem seems to be that the rings are made of some kind of super soft metal and deform/split. I wonder if the cartridge assembly from an HD 50 could be retrofitted into a H8R? It looks more durable 🤔
Wich HDR gun has more posibilities to be modified the most raising its joules ?
Go for the 16 joules if you can…
@@AirgunAlley Thank you so much for replying! Then I will go for the Umarex HDR 68 16J! I wish you all the best!😀

Does the laser/light from mcs fit the hdr 68?
Yessir! It fits most rails…

It's much simpler than he says to remove the restrictions. There is a silver cap that unscrews in the co2 compartment. Take that out with a straight screwdriver and fire away.
What about a 68 ,16 joule and devidtators.. i cant compare cause yours is 30 :(
Weight of the ball effects performance.

I also plan to try some ammo from the Cododo shop (in Italy). From what I gathered through their website, they basically have two kinds of ammo for the HDR68 (16J): the "45 ACP TIP Pellets", which you've reviewed in a recent video (great stuff, btw! Very good video, BUT please allow me to add something here...
Please 🙏 NEVER trust other people's joules calculations, you should have calculated them all by yourself, always...
Here are MORE accurate joule calculation results for everyone :
HDR50
caliber 50 (diameter 12.7 mm), 2.5 gram, 352 fps (average)
= joule: 14.39 Joules !
(Kinetic energy joules 11.3588 J/cm2)
HDR68
caliber 68 (diameter 17.27 mm), 6.8 gram, 263 fps (average)
= joule: 21.85 Joules !
How many shots per CO2 are you getting roughly with each gun in their modified state?
Hey man sorry so late! I would day not more than two magazines… with full power

From the maker:
There is almost no difference between the weight of Regular and S-Type products.
