I was fortunate and old enough to have seen Randy during his first album with Ozzie. I remember sleeping out for the tickets and was able to score 4th row right in front of Randy. I was so totally blown away that the memory is still fresh in my mind through all these years. I also remember hearing on the radio about the accident and heard Randy had died, I remember not sleeping for a few days and was very sad about the news. R.I.P. Mr. Rhoads you are still missed, always copied but never duplicated.
@Justin Ford I am aware of that statement, but you are your own worse critic, but on the flipside many well known past and present guitarist including EVH who admits to copying others as well, and who also idolize RR in return. Just like EVH they both are often copied and never duplicated. Personally I always thought EVH was overrated anyway, I can think of better but its subjective opinion anyway.

John Stix theres 3 that I heard.. he doesn't in these short bits say Eddies great...but he has said Eddie's great, elsewhere, Eddie says "Randy was good but only after he said that everything Randy did he learned from me" which is bullshit. Randy was a full-time music teacher at his mom's school. he taught 8 or more hours a day,. if that don't make u a great guitarist then idk what will. he could go against any player, but Randy didn't have the killer instinct in him. he talked about others more than just him in the few interviews he gave I play guitar bass and drums, Randy as a person inspired me from day 1... anyhow if u can't find the interview clips, there not big, I could send them to ya....it's so nice to hear his voice again...he was 25 in those clips, he turned 25 in Dec 1981 and died March 19, 1982.. so these were done really before he died 3 months later. sad... ah I just checked on yt and I can't find them.,there all maybe 2mins each. Randy also said evh was fantastic during the Feb 82 guitar clinic he was a part of....that's here on youtube I have several copies of him being in guitar world put away with my RR collection...but anyhow, Randy lives on.
I was an instant fan the first time I dropped the needle on the Blizzard of Ozz album when it came out. I guess it's a lucky thing Sharron wanted another album so they could stay on the road or we may not have had D.O.A.M... For a record that was kind of rushed, it sounds like perfection to me! I wish he could have had more time. He was here for such a short time!! 1982 had only just begun. But Randy still made it into the Hall of Fame. I hope we can see some good live footage before I pass. Miss you Randy...
First of all thank you Mr. Jeff for sharing this footage of Ms. Delores Rhoads. I've always been a huge fan of Mr. Randy Rhoads because of his Guitar Mastery. When it comes to melody with a Guitar no one comes close to his talent. His speed and style stands out among all Guitarist. To me Randy Rhoads has set a bar that has not been achieved or broken by anyone thus far.
He definitely had his own style! I can absolutely hear anything that would could play, and immediately identify it. Listen to "SATO", which, IMO, shows so many of his styles all in one song. The rhythm guitar underneath the verses is insane, the guitar itself at the breaks, his solo goes for more than the normal "middle eight" and the trem use says to me that he must have used either his Sandoval polka dot V or the white Jackson "Concorde." HIs sound is very heavy and distorted, but so clean I can hear the individual strings being hit during a chord. It's hard to describe.
@wildcatter63 Oh, he absolutely started out looking like Ronson and definitely admired him. Once he started wearing the leather, that kind of went away. He also was a Leslie West, Ritchie Blackmore, and Michael Schenker fan. IMO, Randy eclipsed Schenker though, which is good, because music and techniques should keep evolving.
@wildcatter63 That sounds about what I've heard too. Randy in his Quiet Riot days absolutely was the splitting image of Ronson. Also why he chose his Alpine White LP because of Mick's. They both definitely had the same mannerisms that is eerie. Kind of like Bon Scott and Phil Mogg of UFO share a lot of similarities on stage that I don't think were intentional, although they were friends. I would've loved to have seen what Randy could've done with an extra 5 years.

Ozzy thought Randy was gay when he first met him, which he wasn't, but he was definitely glam and I guess the women ate it up. He definitely had some kind of aura about him for sure.

Randy saved my life, though he didn't know it. He showed me that music is such a profoundly deep art that it truly warrants a life-time of study, and that changed everything for me. Knowing that Randy was a virtuoso guitarist, successful touring musician, composer and teacher, one would be forgiven for expecting him to continue along that trajectory and yet he wanted more than anything to continue his music education. That really got my attention as a young man. Now that I'm older, I can see how right Randy was. One can never learn everything about music, it is a game without a master. Of course, thanks to Randy I still play the game. Had it not been for his sage advice, I know that I wouldn't still be on this 40 year deep dive into the mysteries of both western european classical music, Indian classical music and jazz. I moved away from playing rock pretty quickly when still a teenager to devote my time to studying classical and jazz guitar at a nearby university in emulation of Randy and so my entire adult life has been informed by this wonderful human being. I can't imagine my life without him. All I can say is God bless the Rhoads family! Peace Love and Much Happiness to You!

Anne Rhoads I’m guessing that you are related to Randy? If it wasn’t for him I would have never played guitar 🎸. I’ve learned many of his songs note for note. I studied his style for years. He was truly a master of his own class on the fretboard. God bless you.
RandyRhoads blessed he came from a family. That was blessed in music. What a nice young man was taken too soon and his whole family Loved him dearly. Those were the best times of my life watching Randy and thank you Delores.😊🙏❤️
Randy was warning up, Ozzy heard him warming up, didn't even do a demo and he got the job with Ozzy, lovely lady, funny when she mentioned asking to meet Ozzy when he was standing right there
Delores was just awesome 👌 I always thought she reminded me of my grandmother. No matter what, she was so positive and supportive 💕 and loving. Randy was gifted No doubt, but lucky to have a mother in Delores Rhoads.
If he stayed a teacher and never joined Ozzy he may still be alive today, but the world would never have those 1st two incredible Blizzard of Ozz records.
I hate to bring this up but, it's on my mind a LOT. Being Randy was so good at writing, the way Bob Daisley is, I often wonder if he would have been dumped on and stolen from, the way Bob has been.

In fact, till this day, Jake has received ZERO credit or monetary payment for that record. Then there's Bob Daisley, among MANY MANY others. Who have been fucked over by the Osbourne Camp. I spoke with her on the phone I believe in either late 2005 or early 2006. and my boss paid the long distance call over an hour long to California which was like ok, nobody asked me about it ...haha from NB Canada to California .which is the other side of North America for me. hahaha I got the number for musonia from Randy's girlfriend Jan I believe it was....my job at the time required alot of long distance calls, ha so I said huum I'm calling Randy Rhoads mom and I got to tell her what Randy meant to me, and she just was pleasant to talk too. she thanked me, when I told her where I was from. new Brunswick Canada... anyhow I talked to Kelle most of the call and he gave me insights about Randy I never knew... Kelly garni Randy's close friend people were raising money for him so he wouldn't have to sell his personal Randy Rhoads stuff cuz he was going on hard times or something.. . I think was medical stuff related...so he put a certain cd out and only a hundred people got a copy of it and it's like Randy jamming with one of his friends which could be Kelly I'm not sure I don't remember but I think I'm number 53 on the 100 I had donated $50 to Kelly so he wouldn't have to sell his personal Randy Rhoads stuff when I told Kelle this, he said they must be running out of wine or beer over there that's why he wants money.,...or something and I was like this is Randy Rhoads brother and Kelly garni has been a big part of Randy Rhoads life and It kind of took me aback but I suppose I just chalked it up to I didn't know them like they knew each other but yeah he made that point about the drinking and that was kind of I didn't know there was any kind of animosity but like just him commenting saying that, kind of threw me off a little bit but we moved on and had a great conversation together it was awesome. I don't believe I told this story to anyone in print..but vocally I mentioned it a few times, I didn't want to start something but Kelle was serious telling me this....his words not mine. does anybody know if the Rhoads family has the Les Paul black beauty that Randy posed with in his last real photo session? plus his 1981 best new talent award??

If it wasn’t tapping as fast as possible, EVH didn’t like it. But I call BS on EVH, he was smart enough to know better...I think. And Eddie thinks he invented tapping, he didn’t...
WRONG!! Eddie saw Randy play in Quiet Riot in the mid 70's and was blown away by Randy's playing. As for tapping, Eddie never claimed to be the originator of that style, he only perfected it. I've seen a few things on RUclips that validate what I'm saying.

I loved Eddie, not like I appreciated Randy Rhoads, I felt Randy was the REAL deal, but I'll defend Eddie on this. He never claimed to have invented "tapping " however, he did perfect it, RIP Randy 🙏
