    thank you for being so open and kind and letting us reach out to you. Telling us your experiences and sharing advice from personal experiences in my opinion is one of the most helpful things so please dont feel bad for not being able to do more because you are already doing so so much. Additionally, I think our connectivity has grown more rapidly than we're able to handle in some instances. We've lost a little perspective on who is able to do what, who should do what, and vetting those to whom we turn for help.
    Mia, you'll realize whatever you set out to do. You're simply that kind of person.

    Hey! I just want to let you know that you have helped me through a lot lately! I recently lost my father to cancer and haven't been feeling very well about it and I always seem to think its my fault, but I know its not. But I have recently been finding myself relapsing into my old habits of starvation and purging but whenever I feel this way I always watch these videos and they help a lot!! You are doing so much for this community and I want to say to keep up the great work!

    "Our possibilities, our potential, is growing as much as we grow." This is such a simple line, but I love it so much. You are my favorite person on the internet. I really appreciate the support you offer and the advocacy you have for those with eating disorders. I love being able to come to your channel and hear all of the honest thoughts you have to say that other people are afraid to. Together, we can all make it through this!

    Mia! Have you ever watched Kati Morton's videos? She's a therapist who specializes in eating disorders and has 176,000 subscribers. Maybe you could reach out to her and see how she's handling this. Even though she's a therapist, she definitely can't get back to everyone right away.

      Amazing that you commented with this Abby, great minds! She is the #1 person I thought of when I came to this realisation. Just trying to figure out the best way to reach her I guess.

      I thought of Kati, too. That's a great idea. I can highly recommend Kati's channel to anyone who is struggling with eating disorders, depression, anxiety or any kind of MH issue. I would love to see some sort of Kati and Mia collab, although it probably wouldn't be in person, because Mia's in Australia and Kati's in USA. xxx

      She might have an email that's just for business-like inquiries and not for fan mail. If she does, that would probably be the best way to reach her.

      Yes, I believe that she does. It would be in her contact details on here.

    First off you truly are amazing and the growth just shows it is paying off,as you deserve it and more.Maybe a Facebook group would be great idea to support one another,or if you can direct people to a professional as you have so much to deal with.Thank you from bottom of my heart for all you do for us all x

  • @auberginefox5956
    @auberginefox5956 7 лет назад

    Also I love that you chose to make a statement emphasising people get help from someone qualified. The internet is great because we can comment and have informal conversations but people often need to get help from professionals who know how to handle it. I hope anyone out there in crisis right now can reach out and get the support they need.

  • @TheSnuffy1994

    I just hope you don't feel responsible for other people. You probably feel deeply affected by those messages as I can tell from this and other videos that you are an incredibly emotionally intelligent and empathethic person. I wish that people would also feel free to post their worries in the comments, we as a community can also support each other and maybe direct each other to local sources etc.

    Thank you for your sheer raw honesty and fab videos! Can really identify and feel deeply with much of what you say. I work in mental health, and have my own issues with childhood trauma, triggering comments and events, and eating disorders, to name but a few. I agree that there is such a gap in services. In my own field, we work hard with teenagers, families, their support services, and their coping mechanisms. I wish I had more answers, and sometimes all I can do, is to be there and listen. To offer a tissue, a cheese toastie, chocolate milk, time out in our sensory room ... whatever is needed. Love and appreciate your input to my life. You have made such a huge difference! Much love xo

    Thank you for your channel, just the way it is. I subscribed a few weeks ago because I love your honesty and support of your community. I have several chronic medical conditions, but EDS is (thankfully) not on the list. I chose to be a part of your community to learn, support, and be inspired. Best wishes and prayers as you figure things out. And don't worry about your hair - we love you for who you are 💖💖💖

    I'm suffering from depression and anxiety, and in my country there's an app to help you deal with crisis. It reminds you who to call, what your danger signs are, what to physically do for self-soothing, etc. I can recommend this to anyone who might hit that wall of crisis and self harm. Be prepared!

    • @nala3
      @nala3 7 лет назад +1

      What is the name of this app? :)

    • @ellieanamia6766

      This sounds like a very helpful app and I could really need it! Whats the name of it?

    • @epithymbria
      @epithymbria 7 лет назад +1

      It's a Norwegian app, so if you're from here use the app called "MinPlan". If you're from any other country I'm sure there are options. If there's nothing, just make a list for yourself :) If you are panicked, you might forget that you can call xyz friend, because you *feel* so alone.

    Maybe if people want a clinical or professional connection they can ask questions to you could direct them to Kati Morton, a certified psychologist who has a really strong presence on RUclips! She takes questions on live streams and I believe she still does her best to respond other places like tumblr and her website. She can't counsel like a normal one on one psychologist but she does have a wealth of vids about the experience of seeking help etc. Maybe that would help alleviate the pressure of not being able to perform as a professional! Love you, love the channel.

    Wow your growth has been insane.. do you know why it might have been? A viral video? In any case I'm so glad for you! 🤗 more people need to watch your videos especially young girls and those suffering with ED's xx

    Congrats on how your channel is growing! I only found you today and I'm already binge watching your videos haha. I absolutely understand how overwhelming that can get - I'm a bit of an ostrich and if things speed up too fast, I bury my head and find myself unable to do anything. Stay strong! We believe in you :)

    Wow! I was gone a week and now nearly 13,000 subscribers. Way to go! Yes please contact Kati Morton. I would love to see a collaboration. Also, she wants to come to Australia so that would be the best. Anyway, you have been a wonderful support as I grow in my recovery.

    I find it rather amusing that the number of kilometres you run is matching your subscribers. Think VERY carefully about that full marathon! :) Congratulations, I share your hopes and dreams (cough *twice dropped out of second year psychology due to stats* cough). Your videos are the best thing on RUclips. Boundaries are an absolute. You are doing the world a great service!

    Maybe if you start a Facebook group we could support each other and you could just be the group moderator; that way you wouldn't have to be the one to answer everyone's questions we could help each other out and that would take the stress off of you, and we would still get that sense of recovery community that we come here for. Just an idea; you don't have to do it.

      That's an awesome idea. Open to suggestions! A lot of the messages come through Instagram and various other social media, so I'm trying to figure out a way which doesn't seem totally impersonal. It's a learning curve for me, but this is a great suggestion.

    • @BarleeCarlee

      What Mia Did Next Instagram does have some limitations, you could put a disclaimer in your bio saying something to the effect of you are only an advocate and leave a link to a good ED resource site. Btw I was going to email you saying thank you for this channel, but decided not to since you are getting flooded with messages.. however since I have your ear I would like to say thank you. My brother suffered of ED in silence for over 8 years (he still doesn't talk about it, but I have made comments which he has affirmed) and this channel has been extremely informative. Thank you.

    RUclips is NOT a safe community to share. .. maybe you should make a private bulletin for people to share.
    i love that RUclips is a great platform to gain attention. i fear as you do people will rely on you for their lifeline. I'm glad you addressed this, it was so important to!

    Thank you for your patience and chill as you adjust to the pressures and responsibilities the channel has and its growing population. Some people couldn't deal and would just head for the hills but you're handling it so maturely and calmly. I feel silly for emailing you with something as frivolous as those Wilmington/Dawson's Creek photos now that I know what you're dealing with, but fyi I did send them to your email address listed above. Maybe the pics will enhance your calm! ;-)

    I'm just reading through the comments and had a thought--maybe in addition to these other ideas, also add a suicide hot line or other similar resources right near your contact info in every description? Maybe then people who look there to contact you will also see them and be more likely to use them.

    Maybe we could start a Gofundme page? Or you could start a Patron option? Because then you might be able to have qualified professionals to record a video and then they could be sent to people who are in need for help? Because it seems like there is a lot of pressure on you. Lots of love, this channel is really great!

    Do you have a website you can provide links for people seeking help that you can direct them to in every video? Include a disclaimer on each video so people who stumble on you and maybe didn't see this video can be directed to the right place.
    Also if you do have a website, including a discussion forum for everyone to contribute to each other may be very supportive.
