I have never enjoyed watching someone not catch many fish before what a great view. We are moving to the area next year. I hope to enjoy days just like this. Thank you sir for the video.
I came up empty handed. This is my 3rd real attempt, all of which has been during the winter. I’d like to get into some of these fish during the winter and early spring while my local rivers are closed or blown out.
It just goes to show that the more you get your line wet the more chances you have of hooking a fish. Now landing it? Well that's a different story. I've fished coho with salmon flies and the one thing I noticed was that on cloudy days, a green back and white body worked best. On sunny days, a blue back with white body worked best. Think about what the backs of herring and candle fish look like on those days.
Nice video Tim. One of my favorite beaches for Natural beauty. I was fishing there last week, not a breath of wind. Like glass, but was at high tide. No luck for me. Plenty of seals and sea lions too. But I have the same feeling. I don’t care if I catch anything while fishing in such majesty.
I find it more difficult there at high tide being limited to a single-handed rod (for now anyway!). I never seem to do as well in a dead flat calm, either. It is a lovely setting, for sure.
I agree. I had a OPST Commando Skagit line on my 9’ 7wt so no back cast space wasn’t an issue, but the high tide and glass surface definitely find help. I just had to fish when I had the chance. Will try to get there some day on a low change over. Thanks for all your content.
I get it you don't want too many people to know where your favorite fishing spot is however this looks a lot more like maybe Hood Canal to me. I don't know anywhere on Puget Sound where the mountains are so close to the saltwater?
@@henryhueffed4904 I think the best clue comes around the 2:00 mark when I say “I’m back at Scenic Beach”. I.e. Scenic Beach State Park. There’s only one video I’ve made where I haven’t explicitly stated where I’m fishing. It’s not my intention to ‘blow up’ anyone’s secret or favorite fishing spots (the places I show are all public parks or well-know access spots, usually well-described in local fishing literature, blogs and guide books). My intent is to provide a little help for those who are starting out in this fishery ( as I was myself, not so long ago). So once more, if it wasn’t clear in the commentary - this is Scenic Beach State Park on Hood Canal. Cheers!
@@OzzieOzzieOzzie I use either Rio Outbound Short float or Orvis Bank Shot floating (the smooth version, not the textured one). Both of these do everything I need of them.

A humble fisherman. Great video. 👍 if I ever was to fish with a guy like you, I would definitely pay attention. Good luck with the catch.
@@pauljorgensen7623 Thanks for the kind words!
You live in a beautiful place and I always enjoy your videos. You know what they say about the worst day fishing.
Thanks for your kind comment. I couldn't agree more with the old saying!
These areas are beautiful! So much to see and so much water to fish.
We moved up here 3 years ago and we love it. I wouldn’t wanna live anywhere else.
@ We love it too.
Heading out tomorrow to hopefully catch my first SRC. Thanks for the great videos.

One of my favorite beaches to fish. Bummer that you couldn't land one.
Thanks for sharing!

Okay maybe around South Sound Anderson Island, Allyn/Grapview?

Nice video. So do you usually use a floating or intermediate line
Nice video. I have never heard of the Titanic fly before. Is there a shop that you could recommend I could purchase them from?
@@bruceb2212 I tie these myself, but you can purchase them online from the guy who invented the pattern. Check out the website www.amazingflies.com/

It's on my wife's bucket list to take a long Vancouver BC vacation, and when we do, I'll be sure to take my fly rod.
