The other side of the hood canal was amazing fishing yesterday, we beach hopped and caught an uncountable amount of cutthroat trout!!! We had alot if weeds to deal with too !! Glad to see it was good fishing all around!!!! Chum fry pattern and king of the waters were the ticket for me.

Were you fishing from a boat? King of the waters is a nice old classic fly, I'm glad someone's using it to good effect! I'm planning a trip to the extreme south end of the Canal, near the big bend, in the next week or two.

@@timothybird7008 we just cruised 101 and waded the beaches over there, that fly is a solid go to !!!! I didn't see anyone else beach fishing but the trout were about!!!!

Thanks for your comment. I totally agree - Salsbury Point (they don't spell it the English way!) is a great spot. I'll be fishing there for coho in the fall.

I know this is from a year ago, but that current is like a river!

That river-like current is often just what the SRC like!

I want to come up this winter and fish the sound with my trout Spey rod! Most of the searun fishing here in OR ends in Oct

In my opinion, the very best fishing is in November and early December, so I think you should have a great time.

For what it's worth I'm catching the most SRCs in the Carr inlet with a 3in baitfish pattern made of pearl and grey ice dub. A 1-2in squid pattern doesn't seem to excite them as much right now in June I've found

What line do you like using Tim?

I use Scientific Anglers Sonar Titan Full Intermediate, and sometimes Rio Outbound Short Full Intermediate (I prefer the Sonar Titan though). If I'm fishing a floating line, I'll use either Orvis Hydros Bank Shot Float (the smooth version) or the Rio Outbound Short in the floating version. I've tried quite a few lines now, and these ones work the best for me.
