    Hi there! I learned to do Tunisian crochet in lockdown by watching Tony’s channel TLYarn craft. I did the same as you have done, I bought some relatively cheap bamboo hooks like yours and went for it! Once I had several projects under my belt in simple stitch I learned more advanced ones and then thought about buying a more decent set but the bamboo ones are still just the ticket. Tunisian crochet makes some beautiful blankets and ponchos! I really hope you take to it!

    Hi Gary. The tunisian knit stitch or the afghan stitch are basic stitches. Find a you tube video. Trust me, if you can crochet and knit all those gorgeous sweaters, jumpers and vests you can do tunisian crochet. And, if I can learn to do it anyone can!!! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you make! Hugs to you and Chad! 💙

      Hello Ruthie - My thoughts are with you and your husband. Wishing him a speedy recovery after surgery.
      I watched Crystal's unboxing of the Temu yarns as well and understood all the concerns she talked about with the yarn she reviewed. I think the biggest disappointment was the labels - not knowing what the fiber content was and some of the pricing was higher than competitors. All valid points. I think Temu is learning from these short-comings.

  • @nancyfink4828
    @nancyfink4828 Год назад

    Once again I've been eyeing the first yarn you ordered. That yarn is also sold by Herrschners I believe under the name soho playful but they don't have as many colors as Temu. I've also wanted to order the tunisian hooks, both the bamboo and the long metal ones. I received a set of knitters pride dreamz hooks for Christmas that I have been using through my tunisian journey. Suggestions: 1) Learn the simple stitch first cause it is always going to be your starting row no matter which stitch you use and as its name says its the easiest.
    2) Tension is key! The nature of the fabric tends to curl on its own and the tighter you are the worse it gets but you also don't want to be too loose or it kinda turns into a mess. 3) Goes with 2 and is hook size. You will always want to go up a full to 1 1/2 hook size from the recommended size for the yarn. You'll understand as you learn and get a feel for it. Basically tension and hook size are key.
    It really makes a nice dense fabric and some of the stitches are beautiful. The tunisian full stitch is also easy and looks very nice. I am a bit newer to it but found its pretty easy since I am an avid crocheter. I found most of the hooks out there are inline and pointy. I now understand why but it doesnt help if you have splitty yarn. The biggest game changer for me was finding the swivel cords if you're making a larger project. Knitters Pride has a line and they're interchangable with all their hooks and needles. Sorry so long winded, just trying to be helpful! 😊 Also check out Toni at TLYarns she has a you tube channel. Jess at Make and Do Crew also has tutorials on her page not sure if shes on you tube. Hugs for now! 🤗
    Edit: Another you tube channel to check out is Exquisite Crochet UK

      Hello Nancy - this message is fantastic! (Not long winded at all as it covered all the things that will help be along the way). I am so impressed with these informative tips. There's been so many in here with similar suggestions - hook sizes go up, tension is key and where to go to learn the simple stitch. I appreciate all your help. PS. After reading the comments in here - the Fairland yarn which was the one you liked not only looks like the SoHo Playful, but it's a proper branded label that other websites carry (and apparently it's a better value from Temu).

      Hello LotSopet - thank you for letting me know you'll be trying out the Swan Lake yarn. That was my favourite of the order. I'm like you with wanting to hold it with another yarn. I'm thinking of either two things - marling it with another solid/or/self striping fingering yarn - or marling it with a mohair.

      @@urbanyarn I'm going to wait til I see mine before I order more colors. In the US its just over $5 so very affordable. I can hardly wait! I hope you'll do a video about it once you work with it. I'd love your opinion.

    I have great experiences from Temu although, if your ordering mink or cashmere, it’s not the real stuff. Sometimes, it’s too good to be true

      Good to know - I'm wondering if there's a way to test that. I know the Swan Lake yarn is sold on other websites as well and it's more expensive than what Temu is selling it for. The label looks exactly the same. The other Cashmere (Good Cashmere) I've not seen anywhere else on the web.

      I agree with you. I was always told if it seems too good to be true it is. I’ve seen people buy pet bowls etc. We all know China doesn’t use safe products. Lead in paint items etc. I’ll pass on Temu. I understand those with RUclips channels are getting freebies and that’s fine

      That's a fair conviction to standby - I would hate to support any organization that was cruel to animals, especially ones like you see in the food industry with live-stock. However, when it comes to woolen fibers (sheep or other sheared animals) - China probably imports that material raw from other parts of the world.
