I don’t get it, how people think that shown is the research? This is just an automation of sending perplexity reply to an email. How what is done here more beneficial than just:
- prompt perplexity;
-cmd+a, cmd+c, cmd+v?
Research is not a Q&A, it’s at least creating a database, defining croteria columns, then evaluating multiple resources through those criteria, and then making a conclusion

Hi! Thanks for your video, it’s really helpful. Do we need any subscriptions to MAKE or to PERPLEXITY to have a complex flow like the one with medium posts, linkedin posts to be done? I really need to know if I need to pay any subsciption to any of those or if the free versions will work well
You need a paid subscription to MAKE. and for Perplexity you need access to their API which you pay for every call to the API but its very cheap

Great video! Thank you! Just subscribed to your channel. I had a quick question about the research assistant. Can Perplexity scan pdf files that sit on websites automatically as the source. For example lets say I was interested in being able to understand the yearly company reports public companies make available on their websites. But they are pdf files sat on their websites, is there a way to do this automatically and how would this work?
We are currently working on a flow for something similar. You would need to set up an RSS feed and then scan html for downloadable links. We might do a tutorial soon.

Its just a prompt we developed with an actual prompt engineer. We have tested many prompting styles and for now this works well
I'm wondering if there's any difference between using "Message an Assistant" (using your own custom Open AI Assistant) and just putting the prompt used to create your custom assistant in say the "System" role of a normal Open AI GPT Prompt? Nico, is there any way we can get the AI to not regurgitate old information? Can we for example limit it to research from the last week? And is there a way to specify the sources it sould pull the research from?
The best way to do it is to have a Module after the research from perplexity that filters out the old data. So a Custom GPT that has the sole task of filtering old data.
Great tutorial, however, I have an issue. This may not be something you can assist with but I'm curious about your thoughts. The output from MAKE to my email, the results provided are "fake" links. Using the same prompt on Perplexity gives very different results with working article links that are relevant to the prompt.
Sounds like a prompting and needed to select the right parameters on perplexity. You can also set up a feedback section where you have another gpt check the answers before you get them. What industry are you researching?
Exactly whats happening to me. Unfortunately makes this thing entirely unusable.

But, I dont really understand how in make, you can perform such a research: in your example, you use Mixtral LLM....and Mixtral isnt connected to internet isnt it? I mean, the poewer of perplexity is his connection to internet.... I miss something ....
It uses the language model to understand the question, it based on the understanding it searches with several different APIs they have built

That whole json file and prompt is available inside our community. However the build is very similar to the one in this tutorial. You just need a good prompt to get the gpt to write in your tone of voice for the LinkedIn Post
How did you create the Sparkle prompts? Has a lot of code in it, haven’t seen anything like that before.
They are from a expert Prompt Engineer. Look up 'Stunt Prompting'

You no longer have to pay for the Perplexity connection! There should be a free connection but you will need API credits on the Perplexity account

@@savvity_digital dang that’s kinda lame, I saw the community app for motion calendar as well and figured since they were all the same price it was one package. That definitely feels like it’s more on the pricey side but hey at least it is a one time fee.

Write nonfiction books about pretty much anything. Just make sure to cite sources! I use MLA format to cite my sources in my blog.

@@jordancelestin2195 Great question! Its a lot easier to scrape a news website instead of a social media platform. Im not 100% sure that perplexity can search things like twitter and Facebook very well

If there was I would have done that one 😅. From my knowledge there is no free alternative for this specific flow
i followed every step till i reached the perplexity credits, it wont add credits even though i put my card and everything :(
I had the same issue. I found specifying a top up amount worked vs adding an initial amount

I think that ChatGPT4 Is not as good for doing research link Perplexity is. You can try but I very much doubt that the result will be the same

It depends on what error message you are receiving im afraid. Very difficult to help with out seeing the exact error message.
So we need make and Perplexity with paid subscriptions to make this work? We cannot try them in free accounts?
You need access to the Perplexity APi which requires you to pay for API calls. But its extremely cheap
How do I define the content output from perplexity as HTML? I have the setting as HTML in my email but it is still coming through as plain text. (The long string content result from perplexity is not showing HTML like in your video.)
Scratch that, I see at the bottom of your prompt, "Output must be in HTML." That solved it. :)

I purchased the file which is great but ended up creating my own, have you come across authentication unsuccessful issues? I have tried to authenticate to Microsoft 365 and both google but running into troubles.
Some platforms a little more unreliable then others with the Authentication. I know linkedin for me sometimes goes a little wacky. Might be a microsoft thing

Unfortunately this thing generates fake or incomplete URLs. Have tried multiple prompting methods. Pretty unfortunate as otherwise it would have been a good buy. Regret purchasing it.
