@@vibolhim2066 wow that is very interesting. How many were in the group that you were in to fight the Vietnamese? I didn’t know that people were based in this area from Cambodia during this time.
I’m happy to share the things that I was able to see. I really enjoy this part of the world and finding historic temples like these. Appreciate the view as always.

I'm Surin people. My ancestors are from Prasat Thanong. I was born in Surin too. Anyways, I want to tell you that most foreigners don't know much about us. They think we are related to Cambodian people. Now this is partly true but also wrong. Why? It's because when the Varman dynasty took over Isan in the 6th-7th century AD they intermarry with the local Mon kingdoms in this region. This, creating a new dynasty called the Mahidharapura (Varman House.) This Varman dynasty produced 3 of the greatest kings of Angkor namely King Suryavarman I, King Suryavarman II, and King Jayavarman the 7th. The evidence suggest that this dynasty is not just Khmer but also Mon as evidence of language and inscriptions in the region of Korat Plateau. However the khmer krom of Vietnam is more of a direct bloodline of current khmers in Cambodia because they are indigenous to that region.

@@imperialkhmer6146 thank you for the information. I, along with most people, just think of the Khmer as a group. The individual sub groups of people are not as important to the overall all story. The same as modern Thai people think of it as a group instead of breaking it down into subgroups within the modern borders. I think it’s easier to understand as well as keep the history on a more straight forward path that doesn’t get lost in the weeds with details. With that being said I try to find some of the footprints left behind by these people so everyone can see. As always I appreciate the information and thanks for watching.

@@endlessjourneytravels Yes but to us we consider ourselves different than the Cambodian ( Khmer Krom) people. Different culture, language, and even cuisine. Not all Han ethnic groups are the same. Same like the Khmers.

This was a fun temple to see. I found it while riding through the area. It’s near the best temple in the area. Here is a video of it if you want to see.

Prasat Sikhoraphum is built by King Suryavarman II in the 12th century AD. King Suryavarman II built the first great city of Sikhoraphum in Surin. I actually propose to the Surin administration to replace the national monument in the middle of the city to the statue of King Suryavarman II with his war elephant because he is actually the direct descendant of the Surin people. The Kuy hero monument in the city does not represent Surin at all because he is just a myth. King Suryavarman II statue of a national hero in Surin is more appropriate and represents the city's history, culture, and people. He was a real historical figure and founded the greatest temple and city in that region

@@imperialkhmer6146 I didn’t know that he was from Surin. That explains some of the issues with Angkor Wat to me now. I see a bit more of why people say it was built by Thais. Thanks for the information.

@@endlessjourneytravels Yes this is why Thai people say Angkor wat really belong to us becuase is actually from the Southern Isan origin and we are his true ancestors. The Cambodian people try to paint a unified people and say they built the empire of Angkor and all the temples. This is not true. It's like stealing someone else hard work. Even for me as a Surin person we don't like what the Khmer people from Cambodia is doing. You can clearly see why our country is more prosperous than theirs. We are not really the same people.

@@imperialkhmer6146 i understand. I am an outsider on the argument and I just love to see the ruins and what the people created. To me the modern disputes are not important because the builders are all dead and I can appreciate what was built so many centuries ago.
