Mueang Sing Historical Park - 11th Century Khmer Ruin - Kanchanaburi Thailand 2024
Mueang Sing เมืองสิงห์ is a historical park in Sai Yok District of Kanchanaburi province in Thailand. It protects the remains of two Khmer temples dating to the 13th and 14th centuries. It was declared a historical park in 1987.
The history of the site goes back to the period between 857 and 1157, a period when the Khmer Kingdom was flourishing. The town was abandoned in the early 13th century for unknown reasons. Another site south of here shows signs of being sacked and burned but no evidence of that happening here.
Prasat Mueang Sing ปราสาทเมืองสิงห์ refers to the principal temple structure located within the wider site of Muang Sing. For the walled, moated settlement itself the original...

@@chhuntitya4473 the plaster work in the museum might be all that they decorated the temple with. Most of the site was restored in the 70’s and techniques were not as advanced then as they are now. Even with that there might not have been any carvings since it was only used for a limited time before it was abandoned. Most of the efforts were probably put into building the walls to protect from invasion from the north from Burma.

@@vibolhim2066 I was reading about it a bit more after filming the temple. They speculate that it was a frontier town to protect the lower Chaophraya basin from possible invasion from Burma. The river was used for trade but also allowed invaders to come via the 3 pagoda pass area. It wasn’t used by the Khmer for very long which is why there are not many other stone temples in the site. It’s an interesting site and I found a few other places that I missed, something to see on my next visit to the area.

Love your video. If you have the chance to talk with the abbot, you will be enlightened. Angkor Wat was built by the King of Khom, not the Khmer or Cambodians. In fact, the King of Khom was from Pimai, now called Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The abbot, who was one of the great Khoms at that time, has reincarnated to create a great temple once again. The history of the Khom is still misunderstood by people around the world, having been tainted by the Westerners who colonized Cambodia. The truth awaits to be revealed soon.

I have been to Phimai and many other places that were built by the Khmer in Thailand like Phanom Rung, Mueang Sing and hundreds of other places. Thanks for the information you provided but Angkor was built by the Khmer by a Khmer king and was completed in 1150 after 30 years of construction that employed up to 300,000 workers. I have been told it was Khom slaves and also a Khom king. Modern people think that the people and borders are exactly the same now as they were 1,000 years ago which is not the case.
