Just watched you for the first time. Your knowledge of jewelry is very refreshing. I like that you are not just doing a haul but actually sharing your knowledge about vintage jewelry. I will be back to watch some more!
Thank you so much! Hugs!
I so enjoy your channel. You are easy to listen to, unlike many, and I appreciate your sharing your joy and knowledge with us. Keep up the great videos! Stay well.
Thank you for your kind words. xo
You are an amazing educator and lovely to watch :))) Thank you for having such a GREAT channel.
Thank you for the kind words. Cheers
I love the pinky flower brooch gorgeous xx
The pin made with colored shells are familiar to me. My mother made jewelry like that in the 1950's and taught her friends the art. I saw many versions on her friends dresses! I still have one piece on my collection.
That's cool. I didn't realize that could done at home as a home craft! Thanks for watching! xo
Love your channel! ❤ I will continue to recommend you to my subbies! You know so much!
Thank you so much!!
I love that you sharing your stories with us! Thank you!
How did the story ended with the bracelet? Was it “the thing”?
I have not had confirmation yet, some differing opinions. Thanks!
I just came across your channel and I have to tell you that I love your energy and your taste in jewelry. I would've done the same thing and told that man no also. Ego is a big turn off and I love my finds to go to a home where it's loved and treasured! Again, love your energy! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you for your lovely comments. And thanks for watching. xo
Did you subscribe Vintage Bridgey?
Kristen suggested your channel and I’m glad she did. I’ve subscribed, I love the lessons you give, thank you for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
Thanks for subbing! Kristen ROCKS! How cooooool! xo
I worked at Napiers as an order picker in the 70s and the Monet poodles' tag brought back some memories. I remember the item number tags that I picked looked a lot like this. I also printed out the tags on a small machine that was like a miniature typewriter.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
That Pierre Cardin cuff bracelet 19:51 is likely 60s he made quite a few geometric cuffs like that. They sell from $495 upwards to $1,500!! Test it because weirdly he sometimes used sterling silver on TOP of real gold!
Ok, I will test it. It's such a cool piece! Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!! xo
Your antique silver Middle Eastern bracelet is decorated with niello, which is a lead compound. The engraving helps hold the material in the silver.
That is interesting. It looks very thick. THANKS for the info!!!!! xo
I applaud you for keeping the braclet even if it were worthless
I probably is -- haha! Thanks so much for watching Mary!
Dr lori does appraisals, would be interesting to know what that bracelet is
How do you not have more subscribers?? You know so much about jewelry. Im going to tell my friends about your channel🤗
You rock!!!! Thanks so much. xoxox
Hey, Jennifer, hitting the like button gets Sandra's videos out there more.
This was so fun to watch and I learned a ton! On to Part 2.....
Dear Sandra, I think those pink flowers on the ceramic brooch may be primroses or cowslips... in Italy we call them "primule". I love your videos, you really know what you're dealing with! Your Christmas ones were so so cute, I've seen those fragile kind of glass ornaments I still remember after so many years!
Thanks so much for the information! And thanks for watching! Cheers! xo
I would go back and sell the bracelet to him. You might try to make the curmudgeon into a friend who can teach you about ivory, which obviously the bracelet is either walrus or elephant. My guess would be walrus. Illegal to sell new pieces, and not sellable on ebay, but it is legal to sell antique pieces. The difficult thing when you end up with one of these is trying to sell it. What have you got to lose? I like the challenge of building friendships with off-putting people, LOL. Every video of yours btw brings me much joy!
Thanks for the advice and for the wonderful compliment!!!! Cheeeeers!
Beautiful find😊.
Video suggestion: Modern day designers that will be collectors pieces in the future. For example, I love Betsey Johnson jewelry and think her pieces will be collectible in the future.
That’s a great idea! I don’t have much new jewelry though! I love Betsey Johnson too and also Iris Apfel. Thanks a ton for watching!!! xo
Ooooo, Sandy, that would be such a cool video!!
I think that would be a great video😀
I love Betsey Johnson but there are so many fakes out there. It surprises me to see so many fakes!
I do think the ring is a dragon! So cool!
!!!!!! I love it even more now!!!! Thanks! xo
Wow! I wouldn’t have sold it either! Congratulations! All your jewelry is so nice!!❤️❤️✌️
Thanks!!!!!!!! xo
Love your great stories about your pieces ❤😊
Thanks for the great content. Love all the education you provide!
Thanks!!!!! xo
2 of those bars w/ round ends were for holding the collar in 50s&60s I had a couple in and everyone I went to school w/ had one. Or the better off girls
Ok, thank you !
Dr Lori says do not ever sell to someone that is appraising your item so you def did the right thing not knowing what it is... Pay to have Dr Lori look at it or your jeweler friend... You just reminded me that I bought a scarab bracelet at a Goodwill about 25 years ago and I am thinking it might be real gold so need to look at it closer. For the last 2 - 3 years I no longer find great jewelry items anymore because GW people are looking up items and then put high prices. Looking forward to seeing more of your purchases...
Yes, I need to have the info before selling. For sure. Very often scarab bracelets were gold filled, so check that out! Goodwill prices are getting annoying, you’re right! Well, happy hunting and thanks for watching!!! xo
i just subscribed and im so happy your so informative ,. Honestly more so than any other people ive watched looking for info on certain pieces ive had for years and always wonder what they were and who made them and so far yyouve helped me solve a few mystery,s so far and ,im gonna binge you video,s tommorrow with all kinds of my containers of vintage jewlery out .Thanks so much!!!
That is wonderful to hear! Thanks so much!!
The bracelet is more common than many think. The print on it, is what makes it different. Alot of these bracelets are tibetan and sold at expo's. When i say bracelets i mean the bolt like hinge style. You went with your heart and i think you made the right choice. It could be a reproduction and it may not. Beautiful bracelet... I think you should enjoy it for a while
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. xo
I have a bracelet like that with the clasp holding looks like,a nail. I think they are mid eastern. I would sell it and take the money. 😅
I'd wear the gold sash pin on one of Mt scarves!❤
Just came across your channel and learnt a lot of new info about vintage and antique jewelry and how to id them. The story telling bracelet looks like silver, and the black "paint" looks like niello. IMO, silver has a specific sheen. Great videos!
Thanks for that! Yes, that bracelet must be silver. I hadn't thought of Niello -- it's very possible. Thanks for your input. I hope to see you soon!!! xo
Hello again Sandra, Your knowledge is Amazing! I’ve learned so much. Have a Lovely day. 🌷
Ooh you had a rod fly by you at the 1.47 minute mark :) So cute.
Love the “Dragon” ring! ❤️
Thanks Happy!!!
stunning pieces
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching. xo
Thank you for yet another great video. I’m new to eBay but have been selling on Poshmark for years. Learning as I go. Boy have I made mistakes. Lol
Marie
Hi Marie, we certainly have all made mistakes... I hope you like eBay, I think it's a lot of fun. Thanks for watching!
I love that dress clip
It’s a pretty one. Thanks so much for coming to my video! xo
This was a great video, can’t wait for the next time one!
Oh wow - how nice! Thanks so much. xo
I think you absolutely made the right decision regarding the bracelet. If a jeweler or antique dealer or anyone offers you money for an item without explaining what you have they are not to be trusted in my opinion. It could prove to be nothing but I don't think so. If nothing else you have another unique piece of art in your collection. Wonderful pieces in this video and fantastic information. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your input! And I'm so glad you liked the jewelry. Hugs.
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter Did you ever find out what the bracelet was or more information?
I have not! But some of my viewers think it’s not a big deal - maybe a tourist piece from the 40s or 50s… Oh well!!!! Thanks for watching!
Absolutely LOVE your channel
Thank you so much!
Learned so much ! Thank you!!
Polly, I’m so glad. Thanks for watching! xo
I agree it's Tibetan and very beautiful.
Thanks so much for watching. Cheers
Thanks for showing the ring! It was me that asked! As to the bracelet, no I wouldn't have sold it either! Don't like that kind of way of dealing. The bracelet is neat and does look like it is scrimshaw, have seen other ones much like it but in bone with no scrimshaw so your is definitely unique! Looks 40sish.
😊 thanks!!! xo
Turquoise is often paired with red Jasper.
Also could be agate.
Thanks for watching! xo
Love the homemade brooch, I read somewhere that pansies signified secret courting to the Victorians 😽
Interesting!
Great pieces, I always learn so much watching your videos, thanks for sharing 🦋
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!!! xo
I used to be an eBay seller, and one thing I learned from other sellers was that if someone offers you what may seem like a good amount of money to buy something off you, don't accept the offer! You likely have something of much higher value than what they're offering, so you did the right thing. Plus, the guy's attitude stinks, and he doesn't sound like someone who would have your best interests at heart. Re the scarab - my understanding of the dung beetle is that they push their dung along with them, and because the dung appears round, the Egyptians thought that represented the sun :)
Thanks for the comments!!!! That whole dung situation! Haha. And thanks for watching. xo
Love your jeweelry choices , thanks for sharing.
How nice! Thanks so much! xo
Good you kept the bracelet.. I feel its worth a lot mire by his reaction !
I think so too!
I agree with you on that bracelet. I would want to know more as well! Great pieces😀
Right? Just in case.... Thanks for watching!!!!
If I remember correctly Swarovski worked with Christian Dior in the early 1950’s to create AB coating. They released a “perfected pieces” in 1955 and then licensed to Corocraft for the Vedome line. I’ve heard there are a few Christian Dior pieces with AB from 1954. But when faceted plastic became common the AB coating became available to those not Uber wealthy. So by 1959-60. If that helps with dating for anyone.
Awesome information! Thanks for that! xo
Great fun as well as educational🥰
Thank you 🤗
I agree your mourning piece is bog oak. I have a piece and it is very light. The c clasp is telling as is the point of the pin going past the edge of the brooch! Nice piece!
Thanks!!!
Hello new to your channel.beautiful that you explaining your jewelry.i'm new on jewelry channels.learning to sell jewelry online and learning more about jewelry on the people I been watching but want to learn about jewelry stones and designers.

Yay! Thank you!
You did the right thing. Love love your glasses. Take care and stay well.
Thanks!!!!!!! xo
I recognized the artist for those earrings at 44:45! I love Keith Haring's work!
Your bib necklace could be from the 80's. I do have purse & wallet & cig pack holder & lipstick case & key chain that I am pretty sure my grandmother bought then. I had a necklace made of it but...got caught up in the excitement of a Dokken concert and threw it on the stage lol also mid 80's
I remember Dokken! Thanks for your input and thanks for watching.
Wild roses on the painted pin
Ok thanks for that!! Cheers.
Very different 😊
The cross at 48:33 has tge lirds prayer in tyd center stone. Look at ot with the loope.
I only have one stanhope -- it's of the Statue of Liberty! But I can't see anything in this cross. Not sure why. A couple other people said the same thing to me. I will have to check it again -- I hope it is! I just don't see the Lord's Prayer -- it look "blank". Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!!!! xo
That man knew it's worth A Lot by demanding to buy it..a Morning locket painted on porcelain of a sparrow on a black frame like. very pretty .you put a piece of a family member who dies.. Awesome! Thank you!
Love the dragon ring. Yes, I do think it is. I am going to unsubscribe.
But then I am instantly going to subscribe again. Because somehow, maybe I have too many channels I am subbed to, but I hardly ever see your videos come up on my notifications, so hopefully by subscribing again it will put that as the top notifications for me. Because I really do enjoy everything that you show us. you are wealth of information.
Thanks so much!!!!!
Iam having so much fun watching your vedio😊😂
Oh how nice! Thanks for watching !
Last brooch was really pretty.
Christina -- you like 'em old don't you? Me toooooooooo!!!!!! Thanks for watching!!!! xo
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter They tell a story about the person who owned them before.
The bangle/bracelet that you were offered $1,200. by the crusty ‘ole dealer is Indian. I have several in my safe from a purchase in 1987 from a dealer who specialized in pieces from India circa 1850s to 1940s. Most like this were made in bone but I’ve not seen any with designs like yours. The ivory ones are heavily carved with 80% silver clasps. Con’t
Ok Kay, thanks for that info, good to know!
Flowers on the hand-painted pin are wild roses the 2 weird pieces w pearls seahorses?
Ok, I'll have another look. Thanks so much Vanessa!! xo
Still loving your videos, a collector after my own heart, anything that's quality and interesting is what I collect, with an emphasis on Victorian jewellery lately. I can't wait to see more of what you got.
The bracelet with the black drawings looks like niello. The etching where it's missing would be to help the black metal adhere. This one is more unique than a lot I've seen, this technique is mostly form Russia or from Thailand/Siam. There are also some Victorian examples that are more geometric or striped designs. I've been eyeing some niello watch chains but a bit beyond my budget usually.
Thanks so much for writing to me! I love Victorian stuff too. Somebody else thought Niello also -- the thing that is throwing me off is the fact that it looks like clay -- it's so thick! It must be Niello though, likely just looks clay-like because it's so old. It looks bit Middle Eastern to me design wise. Not sure!!! I'm going to keep working on it. Sometimes these old pieces become wonderful mysteries that never get solved, and add to their charm! THANKS for watching! xo
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter If you do figure it out I'd love to hear! It's a lovely piece. Thrifting and then solving the mystery is half the fun I think. Sometimes after I stop researching I stumble across the solution to a piece and that's almost as exciting as finding it in the first place.
Ok - will do!!!!! Hugs.
Pink flowers look like wild rose.
oh i also have a bracelet like the one you refused the 1200 for and im gonna get that out tommorow and check it out compared to yours . it has the same clasp and made exactly the same way.
Great! Lemme know if you find out anything about it... I'm still not sure, but I'm thinking it's not valuable... Cheers!
Dragon ring..ugh! On the issue of the Scrimshaw, I probably would've countered with $4000, since you know he would have quadrupled his purchase price if he did indeed have a market for Ivory. Love the Cardin bracelet. I thought it was a Scandinavian piece. Will you attempt any sort of cleaning? I kind of like the fingerprints on the sterling square...
All good points! Thank you. I almost never polish stuff and I too love the patina on the Cardin. Thanks for watching!!!!
Really enjoy your channel! Thank you!
I’m so glad! Thank you! xo
Love ❤️ your videos!
Yay! Thank you! How nice! xo
Wonderful video. Very educational
Thanks you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it. xo
I was referring to the bracelet that ivory looking bracelet to check in the hinge of that were were you hoping it for any kind of markings
It is unmarked! Sadly. Thanks Donna!!!
I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing with us! I have a similar cross to the blingy one and it has the Lord's Prayer inside the middle clear dome area. I think yours may be the same thing?!
I think it was a stanhope in the days but mine is long gone. Thanks Coco!!! xo
Hello. New to the Chanel and subscribed. The bone bracelet is not uncommon. Most likely from India and could be camel bone or some other not illegal bone. They have made this type of hinged bracelets foreverrr and continue to do so. I sold those over 20 years ago and I went to India for a month 5 years ago and you still see them all over in markets. The etching is a little different but not the bracelet and the blister pearl ring is hideous and enjoy it with great health always. Keep showing us those great treasures.
Respectfully Adele
Adele, thanks so much for sharing your expertise on the bracelet! Regarding the ring - lol!!!! I love it even tho I also acknowledge its hideousness, hahaaaa! Hugs.
I would love to find a blank mourning pendant or brooch well two as one for my mum to pot my brothers hair in and the other for my fur babies hair
That would be lovely for sure. xo
I just found your channel! Very informative, and you know more than I do, but I have a love for 40-50's costume jewelry.
Are those blister pearls on the ring?
Wow on the frog set. Lol
I know, it's crazy!!! Thanks for watching. xo
On the back of your scarab is there markings also? Have one that has marks on each stone on the back.
Hi, thanks for watching. I believe it was marked as gold filled. Cheers!
@TheFunkyPickleThrifter Thank you so much for your response so quickly ❤️ Love to learn for you! But I was meaning on the back of each stone is engraved with markings or maybe a signature. I was wondering if all that or if it's something more?
I think it may just be part of the design? 🤔 not sure?
I’m so happy I stumbled across your channel your taste is Amazing 🤩 and similar to mine I love ❤️ everything ❤️🙏🏾
So glad! Thanks for watching!!!
Hi! I’m so excited I found you - really enjoy your channel. How do I buy some of your great finds?
Check out my ebay store - the funky pickle store! Also, I will be doing a RUclips auction within the next few days.... I’m not selling all my stuff, but send me an email at iamthefunkypickle at gmail and let me know what you’re interested in. Thanks so much for your interest!!! xo
The Egyptian goddess brooch is marked in Arabic 750 which translates to 18 k gold
Thank you!
Sorry I am a little late. Just discovered your channel. ❤️ would love to own those White 50s earrings. If you still have them.
May I ask, where do find the tiny colored rhinestones?
I bought a huge lot of them at a yard sale!
I have beautiful butterfly ombre and green le on back ill have to google it or go to check it out.payed like 3$ I collect butterfly have it for 20 years now
