Finally a professional on RUclips. This is like a course on antique and vintage jewelry. Thank you Ms pickle
Hi Sandra! You are such a wonderful teacher! I learned so much! I totally get the crazy feeling of excitement when encountering a pile of JEWELRY!!! Keep the videos coming. With much appreciation, Veronica
Wonderful! So glad you like them! I love that excitement feeling -- it's almost sickening -- but in a great way!!! Thanks for watching. Love, Sandra xo
Oh my gosh!!! Yes, let's geek out and do the video!!!
Haha! Okay -- I'll try to get to that in the next few weeks!!! xo
Wow, thank you for the jewelry lesson! I am learning so much about old jewelry from watching you. It's like chatting with a friend. You have great pacing and your sense of humor adds a welcome light touch to your videos. Keep up the great work :)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching!! xo
BEAUTIFUL "Prom" necklaces. Yaaasss. I WOULD definitely interested in clasps.
Okay, I will try to get that together at some point. Cheers and thanks so much for watching. xo
"living stones....I presume".....ok you just earned yourself a new subscriber lady
Lol!!! Thanks so much!
A million thanks for sharing your expertise & passion. So generous & kind. Love all your videos. Really love your background music, too.
Thank you so much!
What a GREAT video! I watched the whole series of four, and will now go back with a notepad to take notes! Thanks for so much great information!
Glad it was helpful! There are more than 4 parts to this series, FYI. THANKS for watching!
Hello;-) you’re a pleasure to learn from and fun to watch! Ty for sharing!!!
So nice of you! Thanks for watching. xo
Love love love your channel, im learning so much, thank you for sharing your knowledge and awesome jewellery pieces 👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌻🌻🌻
You are so welcome, what a wonderful thing to say. Thanks!!!! xo
I am so happy that I found your channel. I searched " vintage jewelry " and you popped up. I love your style and all the information you provide. I have more appreciation for styles that I sort of dismissed before. You often mention that you will do a specific info video if people are interested. Well, I think people would love to see anything you want to share from your amazing collection. Also, since seeing the Weiss rhinestone necklace, I want to know if you have seen or have any Sherman rhinestone jewelry. It was made in Canada by Gustave Sherman with top quality stones and unique color combinations. Once you see them, you can spot them a mile away due to the quality. Thanks for putting out your videos.
Hello, thanks so much for watching!!!! I have LOADS of videos from my collection -- please have a look at both the "My Jewelry Box" playlist and my "Vintage Jewelry Haul" playlists! I know I've heard of Sherman jewelry, but I'm not sure I'm very familiar with it. I'll have a look. THANKS again, Sandra. xo
Love this!!!!! Youre very good at this & its a joy watching/ listening. (I say this because, often its really not).
Now, i need to go through my vintage jewelry because its so fun & i havent in a long time! 🤗
Thank you so much!
Oh my gosh!! The image of you with Bob Ross's face is HILARIOUS!! I agree with you on your "delicately bold" description of the 70's sterling bracelet, and it is my favorite also. ( I had a single daisy pin when I was 14, when it was issued....sigh).
Nice Laurel! Thanks for watching, I love daisy jewelry!!!
Thanks for the tip on silver testing. I’ve always struggled with seeing the color on the black stone and never thought to use a qtip.
So glad I could help. Cheers. xo
Loved all the education, very well put together video, loved the treasures ♥️👍
Glad you enjoyed it, I was afraid it would be boring!!!! Thanks for watching. xo
Love your channel too many jewelry channels dont show the piece close up or talk about everything but jewelry. I enjoy you sharing your knowledge of each piece etc..thank you
Thank you so much! xo
Oh I’m coveting so many of the pieces you showed! I really enjoy the variety you share, plus your sense of humor is great💚
Thanks so much 😊 xo
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter 5:30- I have the matching ring for this but it's stamped JCC Mexico 925 and there's a sort of bell shape (edit-it's supposed to be an eagle, just found out) with a 3 inside. I should look it up. The bracelet is why I clicked, surprised it has different initials. I absolutely love the design too! The ring only has 2 oval shapes in a row instead of 4 and the scallops (just wire substitutions) are very flat. It has 4 beads connecting them, 2 in the scallops and 2 between forming a diamond, totalling 8 on a side. So, 6 ovals and 24 beads total. I hope that makes sense.
That’s interesting. Some jewelers made pieces and allowed other signatures. Enjoy it!!!! Thanks for watching!
The jet pin looks like mourning jewelry lovely
Yes, that is very possible. Thanks for watching!!!! Cheers. xo
Wow !!! Beautiful wonderful picses, Ooooooo my goodness 😍 good go...
Thanks a million for watching Diane!!!!
I Believe the cloudinous in the green glass cabochon happens when glass is cooling. The antique pendant is gorgeous!
Cool. Thanks for the info!!!! xo
You make a great Bob Ross! LOL - I loved those daisies!
LOL!!!!
A lovely video. I just wanted to mention, as someone who spends a lot of time in Whitby, the jet needs to leave a brown mark, never a black one, the lightest of cinnamon brown is the best quality; and I hope this is useful to people.
Thank you kindly!
Thank you for explaning so well.
Love the video.
Love the daisy s😍
yes please a video on old claps
Love the bangles but they are always to big on me.
Some realy stunning pieces
Thank you! Will do! Thanks for watching. I'll try to get some examples together and I'll do an old clasp video. Cheers!!!!! xo
Love the Mexican bracelet.
I know -- it's SICK!!!! Thanks for watching. xo
Green center stone on that gorgeous silver pendant looks like it may very well be a green amethyst. The purple 14k ring might be a really lovely specimen of tanzanite. If it is, there is a renewed interest in the stone. It only comes from Africa and there is an Italian company that is cornering that market like crazy with some of the best stones so sorry I forget the name but .... Tanzanite exists because of a radiation blast to natural stone in that area, it basically "naturally" treated the stones and caused the color to change. I personally would take it out of that setting and give it a modern update in white gold or even silver. I'm so impressed with your pieces, my secret wish is to shadow you when you are thrifting!!!! Thanks for the great info, I've learned so much from literally just 2 videos, I wastaking notes lol.
Thank you the wonderful comments and the wonderful information!!! Hugs.
6:29 love that bug!!
He's a cutie!!! Thanks. xo
Great video! I would like to see a video on just clasps and backings - to help date some pieces I've picked up.
Do you know, you are the best and most interesting authority on RUclips. As well as being bored to death they told me nothing. One chap said all brooches with open back stones were real, precious or semi precious. Only the stones which were glued in were made of glass and to dismiss all items with glued in stones. I had to remind him that claw set glass was used a lot in high end brooches etc. I was sat here shouting at the screen like an idiot. Anyway I shouldn’t be nasty. So glad I’ve found you.
Hey June, thanks for the kind words. If I know nothing else about jewelry I KNOW this: there are very few HARD RULES where a very broad blanket statement will ALWAYS be true. Ya just never know!!! I'm sure he though he was correct, but there will often be exceptions to rules. Anyhow, I hope to see you again. Cheers, SANDRA
Excellent information. Yes I would love to learn about clasps! Thank you for the great presentation 👍😎
Awesome! Thank you!
Same, me too
Your videos are very good..so much knowledge and professional and just fun.
So nice of you. Thanks for watching. Cheers. xo
Omg the marcasite dog brooch is so adorable
I think so too! Thanks for watching!
Your pendant - cross with real pearls. Such pendants were made in Germany.
Тhank you for the video !!!
Thank you for that info. Do you think it could be Victorian? Or earlier? xo
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter I think it's not Victorian , maybe before 2 War ..
Okay cool. Thanks for that. xo
try pearls on a tooth , то be sure..@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter
First time in your Chanel and I had learn a ton. Thank You.
So glad Martha. Thanks so much and please have a look around at more of my content. Hugs.
Beautiful cross pendant with pearls and green square stone in the middle looks Austro-Hungarian to me. Gorgeous and very expensive
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes, it IS Austro-Hungarian. Silver, slightly gilded, gemstones, Mother of Pearl, holbeinesque style, neorenaissance. Cca1870. Greetings Fromm Czech republic.
Thank you kindly Sylvia!!
I really enjoyed the video and looking forward to seeing more, thank you for sharing, good job and great work
More to come! Thanks a ton for watching! xo

Rosemary - I’m thrilled! Thanks a million for watching!!!!! Hugs, Sandra
24:40 That's carved selenite!
And the purple center stone on that gold ring is definitely tanzanite.
Ok, thanks for that info. Cheers.
Really enjoying these videos. I am learning so much from you! Thank you
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching. xo
I see this is an older video but it popped up in my feed, probably because I recently subscribed. I've been selling online for a long time but I am new to jewelry and I find this video incredibly helpful. Thank you!

So glad I found your channel! I am learning so much, thanks for sharing. Subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!
Ohhhh i love that brooch with green stone with th wisps.....
That's a good one, right? Thanks so much for watching!!!! xo
Love your channel. I'm new here and I'm finding your videos not only useful but really interesting pieces! I couldn't help thinking that barrel looked like selenite from the video. But the frosted one looked like glass or a specific kind of quartz that sometimes can come opaque and kinda gray like that but the name escapes me. Selenite, if that's what it is, should not be put in water, it's a salt and will erode. But quartz can swim in water and be just fine. This might sound crazy, but try licking the barrel 😁 it will literally taste salty, quartz has no taste that I'm aware of. :)
Wow! Okay I’ll check that out. Thanks a ton!
Yes, it looks like a selenite barrel to me also, I couldn't remember the name but you got it.
I love, love, love Native American jewelry!
I am learning so much from your videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them! I am on the East Coast, so I don't usually see it that often and don't have many pieces. It is indeed lovely though. Thanks for your comment. Peace. xo
Loving your channel. Learning so much. And you are so full of knowledge. Your amazing.
So glad!!!! Thank you.
Your last Piece is Beautiful. It looks in the Georgian style 1714 to c. 1830-1837, before Victorian or earlier in its style. I just love Antiques and Jewellery and found your RUclips yesterday. In my 70's I have some knowledge on Jewellry and crystals and love seeing your pieces which are mainly quite different to what we see in England especially the Mexico turquoise. Having you explain so well and at a good pace is a pleasure. Oh i nearly forgot . The barrell charm , A long shot but could this be Selinite / satin spar gypsum from Mexico and around the world. If it is it will disolve in water so perhaps look it up. I have some and it has that pearesent sheen. Marie in UK
Hi Marie!!! Thanks for watching and thanks for your input too. That (likely) Georgian piece is amaaaaazing! I think the barrel IS selenite and was sold as a Niagra Falls token! Cool, right? Cheers!!! xo
I meant Pearlescent in case anyone else wonders.
I like your attitude also.towards different pieces..they don't have to be gold or diamonds...
Yes, it doesn't matter to me what a piece is "worth". That might matter to some people -- and that's great! I personally know some women who are all about the name brand. It's just not me. Thanks for watching. xo
Hi so enjoy your videos thank you 😊
How wonderful!!!! Thanks so much. xo
Sandra, I just came across this video. Did you ever find out about the 2 clear/frosted charms? One was a barrel, the other a coffee pot(?). I thought carved rock crystal without being able to hold it. They were great and unusual. Which means I would have kept them!
Yes Shawn, they are selenite. Several people who watched the video knew about it… Google search it, it’s interesting. Thanks so much for watching!!
Are either of them for sale? Obsessed!!
I just found you tonight and thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Thanks a million!!!
Yes please do clasps
Okay, it's on my list, it will likely be few weeks though. Cheers!!!! xo
Girl! You need to QUIT. I was taking a sip of my water and spit it all out when you put up that picture of your face over Bob . Thank you. Thank you. I needed the laugh. Take care and stay well.
🤭 HAHA you're so funny!!! Glad you lol'd -- but sorry you almost choked!!!! Thanks a million. God bless. xo
Never too long!
Thanks so much!!!

Green glass broach looks like a dragon inside to me
Yes, I see what you mean. Thanks for watching.
❤the stunning cuff
OMG, that first pendant is AMAZING!!
That's a good one isn't it. Thanks so much for watching!!!
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter I’m OBSESSED with that pendant! 😍
My knickname is the jewelry lady and I do believe I have found my people here!!!!
YAY! Thanks for coming!
That ring is beautiful it could be Tanzanite
Thank you for your help. Is there a way I could know / confirm myself? Or would I need a jeweler? Or are you sure? That's a lot of questions, I know! Just asking because I want to put it on my eBay page tomorrow. Thanks!!!!! xo
24:14 little box. Maybe ashes of a beloved person can go in there and worn as a necklace, as long as it closes tightly.
That’s a nice idea, why not? Thanks for watching!!!
Just absolutely love you!!! You are my favorite jewelry educator!!!
Thank you!!!
You are the sweetest!!! Thanks so much!
As soon as I saw the halo ring I knew it would be diamond and the purplish stone is tanzanite! Your gem tester showed tourmaline which could have been another possibility because it comes in many different colours , tanzanite is the only natural gemstone that comes in that colour !
Awesome! Thank you for your help. Cheers!!!! xo
I immediately thought Tanzanite, too, when I saw it. Could be real or simulated. Green garnet was very popular in Victorian jewelry because it mimics emerald, but much less expensive. It wouldn't have a white inclusion, though. I used to mineral hunt for them. They're naturally faceted, and usually quite small, so a cabochon wouldn't make sense. Looking forward to the next installment!
Deirdre, I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of green garnet… interesting. Thank you for your input - I appreciate it!!
Loved your vid! Thank you!
Love learning about old jewelry I collect old pins, wish though you would value your pieces.thank you
Hi Susan! Thanks for watching! Check out my eBay sales videos to see some prices realized. Also my jewelry sales videos will get you a feel for the worth of things. Cheers!
Such fun..and used to test bakelite with Formula 409 cleaner
I used to also, but it does't work anymore, at least it doesn't work for me. Some people say it still works for them. Thanks for watching!
@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter I don't even know if they make 409 anymore.
Not sure either.
I just found your channel and I am in awe. I have learned so much in this short period than the last month of trying to find info to learn. You are amszing!!

The white frosted barrel and other piece may be camphor glass
Thank you!
You bet!
the barrel is saphiret, a type of czech glass made before WW1
Great information
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful.
Have been working my way through your videos. I do hope you did a video on clasps. I will be looking out for it. I love everything I’m learning from you. I’m keen to start collecting vintage and antique costume jewellery.
