I would not change the format. I enjoy the rapid fire pace of the multi-opening unboxing episodes and then the slower, detailed pace of a review and demo. Today's episode felt a bit rushed and wasn't a classic Trogly's episode. Just my opinion...
If you choose to do this format please only do it with the new models. I love your long informative videos on vintage and semi vintage guitars. I’m loving this but I’m also a traditionalist - aka I’ve been watching long enough to turn my nose up at change.
@@Trog Not a fan for all videos. It's not a surprise that an unboxing video gets more views. One of the biggest channels on youtube is based on unboxing things. But I see this as pandering to the lowest common denominator. What makes your videos unique is that they have been for nerds, by nerds with all teh nerdy details. No one else does this like you do so short-changing your unique videos for "likes" is less than ideal. But I know you gotta eat so you do you. Congrats on 100K I've been here since about 20K.
I think the unboxing videos are more popular because there is an element of surprise to them. It could be a Fender, a Gibson, or something different. There is a reason for every type of guitar fan to tune into them. When it comes to the full review unless you are a hardcore fan who will watch every video most people probably just come/go as you review guitars they're actually interested in. I liked the format of this video but I think it's probably better for those guitars that are borderline worthy of review/very niche or something like that Fender Lead 3 you just got where a full review really isn't necessary. This video feels somewhat rushed like you're running against a clock but as its the first of this format I'm sure that would improve with time if you continued doing it.
The unboxings I can take or leave, it's the "full reviews" that I love and watch with interest. The Grand Tour (Amazon Prime show) highlighted what "unboxing" did in the title of a YT video several years ago, when James May did an "unboxing" video in a competition, and won handsomely.
Think it's folks watch the unboxing Episodes to see what's coming up and will be reviewed. Then if they liek what they see, ya they'll watch. If not they pass. Which could indicate why the unboxing vids get more views!
Same here... Just like people who are obsessed with watching YT videos of these stupid kids buying exotic cars and high-end stuff that is beyond lavish and only for the super-rich... Why the hell would I want to watch a video of (which only contributes more to) someone being able to effortlessly (and with a cocky/flashy attitude) buy something I could NEVER afford in an entire lifetime, and then beat the hell out of it, or be a little prick about it, and start naming off things they don't like about it. Well, if you didn't like it, why the f*** did you just drop $250,000 on a car??? Where I live, $250K will buy a nice chunk of land with a REALLY nice house on it. And these d-bags on YT that are 20 years old and have millions of dollars in vehicles and act like cocky a-holes showing off their money irritates the hell out of me. Someone needs to punch them in the mouth a few good times. Never understood it man. Never will. I like this channel for the educational content. Actually a good majority of the channels I watch and sub to are educational, or "how-to's", or "DIY" type repairing stuff. A couple are political, and a few others are just for entertainment (laughs). 👍🏻
Me either. Many years ago, I was into high-end watch collecting and trading. I'd get watches delivered to my work since there was someone there to sign for them. Then I'd rip open the boxes on the way home, usually at red lights. By the time I got home, the passenger compartment would be filled with shipping peanuts, all the case candy and trinkets. I just had to get to that $10,000 watch. Everything else was in the way. Epilogue: I don't wear a watch or own one any longer. Got over that sickness.
If you change the format please keep the quality control segment where yo go over the parts and guitar. It’s what makes this channel special, I haven’t seen that anywhere else.
First congratulations to the winners! Second I love how the green guitars change with the green screen. Sometimes I like the color that it changes to better.
Please keep the traditional review and demo! It's an amazing way to document guitars, and I personally love the detailed reviews and all the information you give... workbench and all, traditional Trogly videos are the absolute best!
The unboxing videos are great because of the amount of guitars we get to see. But I personally like when you open up the guitars pickups and stuff and talk about them.
I think most of us will still be watching all your content regardless of the format, so...do whatever you gotta do. I know there's a lot of work that goes into these videos, so thanks!
Thinking the 6 holes on the pickup selector switch cavity was to accommodate a custom shop plate. The screw alignment is that configuration compared to the standard configuration.
I think it would be cool to do an unboxing and full review, then do an short version edit - and post the longer one on a Troglys extra channel, where you can do different content, and keep the main channel for unboxing, reviews and stories - and the extra channel for longer videos. I'd watch shorter ones when I have less time and the longer ones when I can sit back and relax. Might be more work - I don't know. But it's just a thought! Love the B roll stuff also, the content and presentation seems to be improving ten fold recently. My only nit pick is I feel like if the room you work in was more "guitary" and "musical" (like say Andertons or That pedal show) and less like a packaging area it may be a bit more aesthetically pleasing. Again, just my opinion but really love the channel and the content, and you've got to be THE nicest, most genuine and passionate guitar enthusiast ever. Thanks for the hard work and keep it up!
I gotta say, as cool as the unboxing is, the very thorough and very detailed review of everything about the instruments, from woods and materials, to electronics and components, to a detailed look at building specs, and techniques/methods used, and complete assessment of quality of all the methods and techniques. As a custom builder I eat that stuff up, so keep doing them,
I'll let you in into a secret Austin, I've watched every single video of your cahnnel and I always look forward to your uploads. Do as you please with the format but the way you document and sell guitars going thorugh the condition and specs it's what really sets you apart. Greetings!
I like all of your videos, but what really makes this channel unique from other guitar related channels, is the unboxing video's. I don't know any other channels that unboxes this many guitars
I like the view on the couple guitars at a time on this video. And the quality of your videos are only getting better. I also like the “unboxing episodes” also. Over all a big fan of learning on your channel
I'd say a mix of unboxing/review would be my preferred video, but the unboxings are more popular because it's like Christmas every time. I'm sure folks catch up with your posts at all different times (I'm in the UK so am usually at least 12 hours behind catching up) so I don't think you should worry so much about timing. Having said that, I'm sure your sponsors are expecting you to post at an optimum time. Genrally, thanks for posting.
I think this format would be nice to cover repeat models for which you already had an in-depth video, but I wouldn't want the long ones to disappear, they're the reason I started following your channel in the first place.
I'll watch the videos no matter the format. I like the current format with full and informative reviews, but I also like the Christmas-feeling the unboxing videos have. Do whatever, I'll still watch lol.
I prefer this kind of video. Both the unboxinging and some tone samples in the same video. Maybe for super interesting vintage guitars the work bench part could be longer, but for these kind of guitars I think the length of the video is perfect
Really enjoy the way you did this video. In my opinion each video series you do caters to a different type of individual and sometimes all these videos can be liked be a certain someone. Unboxings are nice but it is nice to see what the guitar sounds like, although youtube decompression goes on in the videos too. I like how you go into depth with the vintage videos and do an shipping out video talking about the week to week guitar journey. If its been working should continue but do what you feel is right instead of the community or youtube deciding. Maybe do a live stream for the shipping out time? Could talk to the community while doing some tasks like that.
For the record, I love the long and in-depth reviews. I like the unboxing too, but I would be kind of disappointed if those took over the in-depth ones. Either way, your channel is still my favorite!
The difference in views might have more to do with RUclipss algorithm of suggesting your videos. I find that your unboxing videos are the only ones that come up in my feed.
Id love for you to give more info on the unboxing. Cut it down to 1 or 2 a video. More views, more info on specific guitars, everyone wins! Do an unboxing and give a rundown. Sometimes 2 if needed to clear some space. I do agree I feel we're waiting on a few reviews and demos. But I'm certainly not complaining!
Hey trogly, I enjoy watching both unboxings and reviews/demos, I enjoy the unboxings more HOWEVER the reviews and demos are incredible for the more rare guitars or the ones I'm specifically interested in, and I also love the little history lessons that come with older models or special guitars with their own history. Keep doin what you're doin and I hope you try out some new formats and ideas because it's always exciting to see something new (which is why I enjoy the unboxings, the new factor and mystery)
Great episode. Ya switch it up every bit. I liked it. I admit though I like your unboxing cause visually its rewarding but also enjoy your knowledge. I like learning new things all the time and your knowledge of lots of types of guitars is great. Helps me decide on which things I'd like in my next guitar( which I hope to build). As I watched your setup of the Les Paul, it struck an idea and a request? I would love a quick set up tips video or tricks maybe style video? Just watching you work through the wiring especially made me want to know more. I mean I could click over here for a full set up video, buts it literally hour long. By trade I do custom cabinetry and run a CNC everyday. Those six holes were I'm betting always supposed to be three to match the cover. But what happened was the pilot hole was to large and the assembler was force to drive the smaller screw directly into the wood. Thanks for the videos!
The reason those back plates and the Slash pickguard look rough on their backs is they were made in a mold, and not cut out of a larger sheet of plastic. It's a cheaper way of making them, no cutting or routing required. I see a lot of import guitars with those molded plastic covers and pickguards.
I’ve wanted a Custom for most of my whole guitar playing life and can’t imagine why anyone would trade away a gorgeous thing like that for a signature model. Or any other guitar for that matter. If I ever get my hands on one, I’ll never let it go.
Like the new format..but retain the old unboxing section once a week. Like unboxing videos of the entire week in a single video 😁. And please bring back trade Tuesday 😝
Give it a try. But i personally love the unboxxing because of the suprise part.. Your videos keep getting better. Keep it up👍 i would love some hollow beauties on the channel
My x brother in law runs the PLEK machine at the Gibson custom shop here in Nashville. I got to tour the place several years back. Quite an amazing shop. I got to meet Les Paul there shortly before his passing. He's gotten to meet many of the stars. Ted Nugent, Mick Mars, Toni Iomi, Adam Jones, Zakk Wylde, many more... We had a little garage band for a while. Some of our stuff is on my youtube channel. He plays a couple of his Gibson guitars in the videos. I'm on bass playing a Lotus and an Ibanez.
On newer guitars I think this style would work a lot better while giving some history on older models, I liked this one today this first style of this felt a bit rushed but as you said you don’t have time so I’m understanding if you decide to change all reviews to this style, I probably would have helped not to buy this amount of guitars knowing you are expected to do a review for each one so I hope things start to calm down so you can some breathing time, we love ya bud, keep up the good work
I like the more in depth videos on the vintage guitars. I also suspect those videos will have a much better views on old videos because people will watch them if they are interested in that model which will give them very in depth information.
I like the unboxing a lot because you will tease some guitars and I will then constantly check RUclips to see when you upload the review of a guitar from the unboxing I was intrigued by
Maybe unboxing get more view because : 1. People are curious about what u will do for next full review 2. It's a short video 3. People will pass on full review if they are not interested on the guitar But for me, i always watch all your vids.
If you file the nut slots properly, you don't need graphite as a lubricant. The string should lean on the bottom of the slot for 1-2 mm . Also filing the slot so that they get wider toward the head stock decreases the friction. A question for you: As Gibson is famous for not so detailed finishing, how often do you pump into back covers that are cut too small, like even a couple of millimeters?
I'm split on your videos. Sometimes I like the unboxing and sometimes I prefer the boxing videos. The demos with a story are always entertaining and I'm still waiting anxiously to see the resolution of the stolen (?) guitars situation. p.s. Love the Anaconda finish on the Gibson. I'd love to see you expand the selection of brands that you evaluate and demo.
For what it’s worth I like the reviews and demos quite a bit and hope you continue to find the time to do them but I totally get that it’s a matter of finances and trying to maximize your value/time.
I really like the new format. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the reviews. But, tossing in the mixed unboxing/review is a welcome plus in my book! Keep it up 👍
I like the longer more in depth demos more but I watch them all anyway. It is all good information. That green guitar is a beauty. What do you treat your fretboards with? Looks like it works well.
The 3 additionnals holes are only in case you scrap one of the 3 others with the screw. If you don't do those predrilled hole and just screw on the side you could crack the wood.

Guitars that really have no backstory to it doesn't really need a full in depth review as all info basically is already out there. That said, some new guitar do have some history in the past, shining some light on that is a good idea. Vintage/old/rare guitars do deserve a full review.
I would not change the format. I enjoy the rapid fire pace of the multi-opening unboxing episodes and then the slower, detailed pace of a review and demo. Today's episode felt a bit rushed and wasn't a classic Trogly's episode. Just my opinion...

I'm planning to revamp my website that would cover all the nitty-gritty details - but yes - this format would work best with brand new guitars

Relax big fella 😂
The Trogly's Guitar Show
awesome!! I’m sorry if I came off brash and anti change. I really love what you do and I’m all for change 😊

I actually do opposite and often skip vlogs, because I am here for history and tones.
trogly, please keep your old format, been watching for years and it’s so perfect

That les Paul custom kicks ass. Also I DO like this format more. But it’s really what is more conducive for your own life

I like it when you unbox multiple guitars each time. If you do it as unbox and review I won't look forward to it as much. Thanks for your work!
I think this format would be nice to cover repeat models for which you already had an in-depth video, but I wouldn't want the long ones to disappear, they're the reason I started following your channel in the first place.
This is a good idea.
Go with both formats, I love the unboxing only and the unboxing and review just as much thanks for all you do for the guitar lovers out here. 😊👍
I'll watch the videos no matter the format. I like the current format with full and informative reviews, but I also like the Christmas-feeling the unboxing videos have. Do whatever, I'll still watch lol.
That Les Paul custom is incredible looking.
Your Demos are awesome. That’s how I learned that the Les Paul double cut with p90s rocks.
I prefer this kind of video. Both the unboxinging and some tone samples in the same video. Maybe for super interesting vintage guitars the work bench part could be longer, but for these kind of guitars I think the length of the video is perfect

Dude, have you gone to the police about your stolen gear yet?
DO IT!
he made enough profits ripping people off, he deserved to be robbed
Best Slash signature I have seen. Nice playing dude.
For the record, I love the long and in-depth reviews. I like the unboxing too, but I would be kind of disappointed if those took over the in-depth ones. Either way, your channel is still my favorite!
It seems like the majority of people in the comments feels this way, I hope he sticks to his long in depth reviews as well.
I love hearing the history of the guitars when you do the reviews!
The green screen part had some strange effects on the colors of the guitars. I like the format with unboxing and review together.
Same here. I liked the unbox/review combo video, as well. It retains my interest better knowing that I'll get to hear the guitar(s) at the end. 👍🏻
The difference in views might have more to do with RUclipss algorithm of suggesting your videos. I find that your unboxing videos are the only ones that come up in my feed.
I wouldn’t of traded that guitar, nothing against the green Slash guitar but that custom 😍Wow

I look forward to the reviews and demo’s. Big reason why I have subscribed. Great channel!
I like your current format (separate unboxings and demos)
Give it a try. But i personally love the unboxxing because of the suprise part..
Your videos keep getting better. Keep it up👍 i would love some hollow beauties on the channel

I enjoy all of your shows!...Please keep it up!

Awesome review! Very thorough and has definitely answered all the questions I had on the Anaconda Burst. I’m sold! Long & McQuade here I come..
I always watch only the first part of the review, the history of vintage guitars etc, but still I wouldn't change the format
Man that green is gorgeous!
Dude the new shirts are awesome!! Best merch so far
Enjoyed both ways of presentation. This one is quicker for those not wanting a more in-depth review.
Super excited for the epiphone sg special demo and review! No one has one up yet
For what it’s worth I like the reviews and demos quite a bit and hope you continue to find the time to do them but I totally get that it’s a matter of finances and trying to maximize your value/time.
OMGosh, slow down Trogly! I was *exhausted* watching this episode!
I really like the new format. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the reviews. But, tossing in the mixed unboxing/review is a welcome plus in my book! Keep it up 👍
Love this format, wish you would have done the readings on the OBL - Bill Lawrence pickups
i love the full reviews man
I love your demos man. Great playing
I just bought mine on Reverb… Anaconda is soooo nice… and the guitar is rather light and pleasant to play
That Custom Plus is STUNNING
I LLLOOOVVVEEE this concept for videos...truly hope to see MORE of these. God bless
Still madly in love with that one at 1:13. So beautiful
I like the longer more in depth demos more but I watch them all anyway. It is all good information. That green guitar is a beauty.
What do you treat your fretboards with? Looks like it works well.
I'm dying' to see the Aldo Nova review!!
The 3 additionnals holes are only in case you scrap one of the 3 others with the screw. If you don't do those predrilled hole and just screw on the side you could crack the wood.
I still want those detailed review videos. I personally watch more than the unboxing. Sometimes those videos include the unboxing.
Hey Austin, my slash appetite for destruction Les Paul also has 6 holes in the toggle switch cover
i like the change of pace. I also like the traditional way. to sum it up - if it's Trogly, it's gotta be good. keep on. Ü ♫
Unboxings are the funnest to watch.
I can't wait to get a norlin era Les Paul. I want to get a players grade custom. Hopefully sometime this year.
Two gorgeous guitars in this episode. Wow.
What in the hell is a Slashbucker? So does the Buckethead signature use Bucketbucker pickups?😭😭
A SLASHBUCKER IS GIBSON PICKUP SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO GIVE ALL THE EXTRA LOOT FROM THE SALES OF ANYTHING WITH THE WORD SLASH TO HIS EX AND 2 KIDS THAT ARENT HIS.
Luka Marinov I was reading this in front of my family and they gave me weird looks for laughing out of nowhere, good job!
(Gibson Employee Here) The Slashbucker is a newly-designed/uniquely-wound humbucker made specifically for the new 2020 Slash models.
Sounded pretty good playing “Always on the run” 💯🔥
I definitely prefer the full reviews. Maybe just make fewer but don't abandon the format all together.
I think it might be channel suicide if he did, I hope they stay.
I enjoyed this new format. 😎👍
Better and better all the time pal
Damnit I like both! Haha I say for all new guitars do the focused unboxing style and for the vintage stuff do this combo style!
I like the format) enjoyed it))

If the Trogly's Guitar Show was a guitar, it would be that Les Paul!
I like the new video format.good idea
Unboxing is cool, we all love to see new guitars. But I would definitely stick with the reviews.
Guitars that really have no backstory to it doesn't really need a full in depth review as all info basically is already out there. That said, some new guitar do have some history in the past, shining some light on that is a good idea. Vintage/old/rare guitars do deserve a full review.
Just an idea, but I would LOVE to see you document an Eastman SB59 and compare it to like a Gibson R9
I would really love to see a review of the Appetite burst/amber one!
This would be cool.
