I watched him play junior while I lived in Kitchener for college. Saw him play many times; I went to the game after the hit and no one was sure if he would make it out alive let alone play again. Nice to see him covered here.

We have Season's Tickets siting on the left side of the ranger's bench where he was hit I remember that game and how the whole rink went quiet you could hear a pin drop good on David Branch to kick the Erie Otter's player out of the league

I've been to a lot of Ranger games, and I was there the night Ben came back. I'll tell you, I have never heard the fans cheer so loud (not even during any goal) than they (we) did during his return. It was very emotional.

The scariest hit I've ever seen live, I've been to countless Ranger games, but that's one I'll never forget

@@PieFights I really don't understand why from the hit, though. The damage was insane, so I get the gut reaction, but why does a hit on the shoulder result in getting kicked out for life? You can argue a charge since he was approaching quickly, but he even starts a coast at the bottom of the circle, so it really isn't even a charge. I guess the call is boarding, but again, Fanelli was turning and the contact of the hit is square on the shoulder. Even if you conclude that it was both a charge and boarding, how does that equal kicked out of the league? The only time I've ever seen a league even contemplate kicking a player out for life is when the incident isn't even a hockey play (like taking a baseball swing at a player's head with your stick, or physically attacking a ref or something). I think the rink was more at fault for having zero flex in the end boards, as is possibly the league for allowing 16 year-olds to play against fully built men that can hammer you that hard. Did the Otter player have a history of long suspensions so this was just the last straw? If not, that hardly seems just to me (and I'm not somebody that even follows hockey outside of the NHL, so I'm not a fan of either team, so I don't think I'm biased on that front).

Why doesn’t he attach the lapel mic to his shirt rather than carry it around?
