You deserve so many more subs! this is saving me right now, thank you so much. the time and effort you’ve put into these is greatly appreciated by every student you’ve saved so far and I’ll spread the word with everyone I know about your videos they deserve so much more attention
In textbooks etc. The OH group on the right is instead an HO Group. Does it matter which way you write it? PS: Love your videos- have been looking for an A-Level Biology RUclipsr for ages!!
Hello, Bonds will form with the oxygen in OH,,rather than the H, so sometimes diagrams show the hydroxyl as HO so that the bond from the oxygen to another atom is in the correct place, so no HO or OH doesn't matter 😊
These are so helpful!! Probably seems like a dumb question, but once the bonding has happened, what would happen to the other elements on the 1 and 4 position of the molecules. Would they stay there?
the bond forms between the two OH groups. H2O is removed when the bond it formed (condensation reaction) and that just leaves one O atom, which forms the glycosidic bond ( C-O-C) Hope that helps.
Hello There is a lot of overlap on the content, but check against your specification when watching the videos to be certain. Using the specification like that will be really helpful for your revision too 😊
