It's amazing how this engines are extremely huge and powerfull, still are slower than a way smaller one. Says a lot about engineers making more efficient engines, I'm really impressed. Love your videos, cheers.
It's all about application. Sure this engine provides lower top speed than the smaller one, but with different gearing that all could change. On the other hand try moving something huge with the tiny engine.

@@dusanj Yep, but its also a question of reliability. This thing could sit at peak torque and nearly WOT for hours with a properly sized radiator and be just fine, but do the exact same test just with a much smaller engine with the same horsepower output and geared to match in torque it would develop severe mechanical problems soon enough. A car's engine isn't designed to handle full throttle for very long, in fact this engine makes peak torque at revs a little over a small engine's idle, about 1200 rpm, while that small engine's peak torque point is probably upwards of 6000 rpm instead. The dynamic inertia force of the bottom end increases square with the engine rpm, 1200 rpm on an 80mm stroke is a piston velocity of just 3.2 m/s while at 6000 rpm its 16 m/s, that's a lot of force pulling the rods apart which weakens the rods as they get pulled, pushed and then slammed by the power strokes, the metal becomes brittle and eventually it throws a rod from age, not only that but a larger engine producing the equivalent power at a lower rpm suffers less loss from friction and thus with the same tech they're shoving into these tiny 1 liter 3-bangers are more efficient on fuel, or at least would be if they weren't heavier due to being bigger, but they can pull lots of cargo and burn less fuel doing so. Big trucks, big loads, use big engines, its only logical. Small cars, small weight, use a small engine, its economical. That's kinda how its always been now that I think of it, and that kinda makes my entire comment a bit redundant methinks XD

This is small for a tank engine, some get up to 40 or 50liter i think, power of the engine also vary depending on the age of the engine a modern engine would have sent that car flying
weight would slow it down though

I think the quarter mile would be a completely different thing if you only used even gears (2-4-6, or odd gears 1-3-5 alternatively). The torque band is so wide the engine could take it effortlessly.
its all about power band not torque band with 1-3-5 diffrenc in rpm be biger thus less avg power use for acceleratios thus slower 🤷🏻♂️
@@mociczyczki I don't think you understand how torque works. Besides, you lose turbo pressure every time you shift gears.
@@akisalmenaho8473with turbo pressure good point with torq wrong overall 1-3-5 be slower than 1-2-3-4 👌🏻 cos from this what im see this setup dpnt build max boost enough long to get advantage from biger diffrenc in gear lenght 👍🏻 100% setup which he made be faster than what you sugest with gearing 👌🏻 rhough hees setup is still not perfect like for this power graph itself 👌🏻 diffrenc should be smaller in gear lenght but like you correct mention not to small with to big cuantity of gears cos this boost dont build super fast 👌🏻 so each new shifts generate loses on booost build 👍🏻
