You really explain these exercises and anotomy in a splendid understandable way so that most of us people can understand it in a proper way. Appreciate it man 👍🏻
You are by far the best and most informative when it comes to exercises. You've literally changed the way I train and helped me tune in more to the mind-muscle connection. Thanks for the quality content!
Finally a real professional explanation to help us understand WHY we do or do NOT do a certain exercise a certain way. Fantastic clear expert advice that is easy to apply to our workouts! I think I have found my favorite person to help me understand what I am doing and how to NOT hurt myself yet get the most out of the time I spend working out! Thank you so much!!!!!!!
I see many people complaining about the video length: guys, I wish there would be great information like this in Portuguese! I am thinking about subtitling James’ vídeos into Portuguese just to spread his channel and his work. Great job James!
I've seen your resistance band videos and they're great. This video is even better. You break it down clearly and rigorously. Brief and to the point. Awesome. You rock!
Once again, another great video! Thank you James. You've removed the mystery from another one of my muscle groups. Because of you, I've tweaked my workout program so much I barely recognize it anymore. But the same is true for my body. So, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Excellent advice. Go to failure on every set, go through the burn like James says, do rest-pauses, rep pauses, strip sets, supersets, forced reps, change up set and rep schemes ad exercises, etc. Train them at least 2 twice a week kill, them everytime and they will grow.
I really think this videos is in the top 3 vids on the tube for calves. The balance between knowledge, information, example exercises is exceptional. Respect. I appreciate the way he educates fellow body builders so they can achieve mind muscle connection. Great Job.
this guy is incredibly thorough. explains the muscle, the why's the how's. great channel by far one of the best. Science and explanations not just do this because I said.
Hey James, I am Akshay from India, this is the best channel I have ever seen giving so much of information regarding muscle building techniques. I have almost got all the information regarding muscle positions and required right exercises to build those. You are doing a great job and thank you for all the information. I have one request for you, please add some videos on required nutrition intake, protein, carb, fat intake and all. How much is required to build a right amount of muscle? Thank you, Akshay Nikte
Dude. I really appreciate this. It's not a load of BS. It's real science and very helpful. Goes well with another video I recently watched about how squat depth is way more about proportions than limiting dorsiflexion or tight gastroc. How can it be gastroc when there is slack in the gastroc after the knee is bent. Awesome video. Thanks!
Thank you for discussing pointing toes on calf raises and how that puts extra pressure on the knees. I try explaining this to all of my clients. I appreciate your approach with protecting the body. It's never worth it to sacrifice one joint or muscle for another. Thank you again for your informative points.
Thank you so much for this video, and all your other videos. I really appreciate all the knowledge you have imparted to me and all of your other loyal followers. Are we going to get a full calf workout video from you though? In all other past videos you've done, you taught us about the muscles and how they work, and what exercises you recommend. Then you would show us how you put it all together for your workouts. Don't mean to sound impatient or greedy here, but they way you ended the video, it sounded like you were ending this series of videos.
omg, i almost cried watching this - i feel enlightened. I have been trying to understand these muscles for my PT course for over a week (doesn't sound long, but given that i've put in hours per day to trying to understand it and feeling like i'm only reciting the page instead of understanding has felt soooooooooo frustrating)....and then 10 minutes later (watching this video), i feel like if it had been said and showed to me this way from the start, i would have saved myself so much time and stress!
So good! Clear explanation, thorough demonstration, excellent education, and great recommendations on exercise and rep range. I now how to train calves and I'll be looking to your other videos for the rest of the body! Thanks a bunch!
Yes , straight to the point giving an explanation for every exercise and why it is like that . No stupid rap background music , no bullshit . Great videos , I just subscribed :) .
I have watched all your advance training videos.... All are great- thanks. How would you put these together in a full program? Like Day 1: chest & back, or is it too much to combine ?Appreciate any feedback thanks.
James! you rock. You are very good PT on RUclips. I guarantee that watching your videos is much better than having a PT. Watched and run training according to your tips. Never got such a bad pump as I get now! Then I've checked a number of other videos too, but nobody beats you! Keep sharing your awesome workout videos :)
Dude, you are the man! I had no idea that unilateral work was so important for developing symmetry between the medial and lateral head of the Gastroncemius. My lateral head is much smaller than my medial, so I found this video very very informative. Thank you!
Excellent video. Thank you for breaking down the muscle itself, it's functions and effective exercises in a simplistic way. I will use these exercises to strengthen my calf so I can overcome soreness or tightness from running. Great job man.
thank you for the upload! Just wanted to add that there is another muscle in the calves, it is a vestigial muscle from back in the days when we used our feet to grab things and hang from trees. The name of this muscle is the plantaris, I did not know about it before I actually ruptured it. Some anatomy references show it, some do not, cheers~
Ahhh.. finally something worth taking home for the calves. Feels like one of the best days of my life when I found this video. Realized that I had been doing it wrong all along. Lower weights and better motion ranges do give better results. Really felt it when I tried it out y'day. And the guys at the gym were like seated calf raises are better compared to the standing ones as you don't have to stress your spine with the weight on the shoulders. Thanks a ton man. :)
Thoroughly Paranormal try different weight and rep range some people need to do high rep high volume and others need heavy weight low rep high intensity they will grow just find your sweet spot!
It's a very dense muscle your on it all day you need to get deep in the fibers use full range motion good stretch good contractions just like he said it's a tough muscle!!
whenever i hit calves i do both standing and seated calves, and i go heavy. i can only see a slight improvement, but i'm not satisfied because i spend more time on my calves than my arms, and i wish i get my calves like James. lol one day
I used to go heavy after watching a video saying I should go heavy if I'm not seeing results. I did that for a year or two (with a few tendon aches that came with it). Then fairly recently I decided to lower the weight and focus more on full range. After doing just 5 sets of that I got a better workout on my calves then 9 sets with heavy. Problem with heavy is I noticed it tends to really shorten the rep range, and I think that's what really hurts it's effectiveness.
Damn, so glad I found your channel ! Best fitness RUclipsr out there by faaar !! Very well made content. I love your anatomical explanations. Just good content - without all the drama and bullsh** you can see everywhere else. Big fan! ✌🏽
This guy deserves over 1 million subs.
GermanyTechno .
Yes! Very informative.
@GermanyTechno I agree! No bro science here, just good old fashioned physiologically based fact & knowledge!

That intro showing muscles connection and how they work was amazing!
Words of wisdom.
Actual gold. Thank you so much for your professionalism.
This guy had fast become one of my favorite fitness RUclipsrs for form and technique. Many thanks James 👍
You appreciate us for tuning in, are you mad lol, it's us that really appreciate you for doing the videos, thank you James.

thanks James. advanced training technique is the best playlist for workout routine on the internet right now.
Thank you for being so thorough and detailed with the science and structure. I learned to take the ego out of my exercise!
The single leg is what got me. You've made and an excellent observation and made me realise that is what will develop the outer head the most!
I've seen your resistance band videos and they're great. This video is even better. You break it down clearly and rigorously. Brief and to the point. Awesome. You rock!

You and Damien Patrick are hands down the best fitness channels:)

Have you done a video on any supplements you take? I can't find one and I am interested in watching that video.
i think you are the best intructor whom i knew before.
Definitely going to incorporate medial work on my calf routines
Great video!
I usually grab a dumbbell and do one leg calf raise when there is no standing calf machine !
Great information. Keep the videos coming.
Always good to see people putting out good solid scientific based information :)
u r the best that's all I have to say. My calves never grow and that really bothers me lol
