💖 My grandfather and my father used to take care of all household shoes. Now I do the same in mine. And I love it:) Cleaning and putting them away as seasons change is my favorite time.

This video brought back childhood memories. Every Saturday night all four of us kids, as well as my parents, would polish our shoes for church the next day and for the following week. 🌷

A sense of respect and gratitude comes from caring for the things we own, especially caring for the things that care for us like footwear.
The winters are heavy where I live so one day I decided to invest on a good pair of winter boots because I walked to work after getting off the train. I bought what I thought were good winter boots, turns out they are actually snow boarding boots. They have remained in good shape despite owning them for 10 years. My sister jokes that they look a bit like Frankenstein boots but we both agree that they are very reliable. I also have a routine on how to clean them after every winter. 😊

Shoe polishing was a weekly ritual when I was a child. Always done on a Saturday evening for Mass on a Sunday. And also before any big days out or special occasions. I loved when it was time to shine them up after the polish had been let sink in a while. I love the new shoes you have. Especially your favourite pair. They look so comfortable and stylish. Xx

I enjoy your channel. Your voice is soothing. My frugal grandmothers (both now dead) taught me to look after my things. My ex had been in the navy and polished my leather shoes expertly. I now live in a warmer climate so don't wear boots or many leather shoes but still take great care - they look good and last well. Hi from Australia xx

Well that was a trip down memory lane thinking about how Dad would polish our shoes for us when very young until we could do it ourselves, then we would have to sit on the floor with newspapers spread out in the family room in the winter months or stand outside to polish shoes in summer months. Then there was the cleaning of the plain white canvas sand shoes (sneakers) which we used a paste and water, oh what a mess I would make of that, with my hands half covered in white

Love this! Every now and again I clean all my shoes all in one go, and I love the feeling of knowing that ALL my shoes and boots are clean. I have never had machine washable shoes, but the ones in your video look great - I like the pale ones for summer. Like you I don’t often buy shoes because it’s a pain (literally!) to break them in, but this summer I have bought some new pink trainers, and they are so pretty that I don’t want to wear them outside in case they get dirty. 😂🙄

I have not been following on your videos lately and I'm glad I found this. Recently I realised some of the old shoes I have are worn but can still be fixed so instead of buying new ones I have sent to repair again. Except the ones my cats destroyed. Feels good being able to reuse and not throwing them. Hope you are doing well, Benita!
Those shoes are pretty cool Benita! I myself haven't worn 'dressy' shoes in a long time - I go for comfort nowadays, and the Vivaia shoes look perfect for that. Thanks for the great video!

I hear you on the overly sensitive feet. Been a nightmare for me for years but purchased the Ecco Omni-Vent white sneakers / walking shoes last year and like walking on clouds . Great video as always.

I use a clear cream color that works for all my different shoes. It’s so much easier to use and then you only need one brush too 😍👌🏻 Loved your video as always

Benita, this was a great video. I have a very narrow foot and shoe manufacturers tend to only make medium & wide widths. As a result, I also have a limited shoe collection. I take great care of my shoes. I did not know about shoe cream (vs. shoe polish) or the boot hangers. I’ll have to check out both. Protectant spray was a great invention.

Great shoes. I had plantar fasciitis and tried all the traditional treatments. Finally I went to Taby rehab for acupuncture. You have to have several treatments but it works. That was ten years ago and my feet are still happy.
It took me years to get rid of my PF. Still wear custom insoles in walking shoes but I’ll look into acupuncture if I get issues again. Thanks for the tip!

Love this! I have been trying to purchase only higher quality clothing shoes that I will take special care of and repair, rather than give away or throw away so much. I also took a special leather belt to a cobbler for a new buckle. Because the belt is full-grain leather it is still going strong!

I have a shoe care box and polish my leather shoes. A good layer of polish protects from scuffs and increases life. I spray my leather--we don't get much snow, but we get RAIN! Finding shoe repair shops is getting harder these days!
Someone else mentioned that finding a shoe repair show was getting harder. Over here they’re still quite common so I feel lucky now!
Benita, I have plantar fasciitis also. I do simple stretches once a day, usually before bed, to prevent stiffness and pain. While wearing shoes I drop my heels for 60 seconds while standing on a stair step, press the balls of my feet and my toes, one foot at a time, for 60 seconds against the bottom of a wall, then bend my knees a bit with my feet flat for 30 seconds. I repeat the steps twice more. If I do this every night I have very little soreness in my feet. Maybe you could give it a try to see if it helps you.
I don’t have problems right now but I had it for years and did those types of exercises.
This video is so informative on shoe care.I really like all of your shoes, I have planters phaciatis also and have had 2 steroid injections in the last 10 years, so far I'm good.The recyclable and washable shoes look great, I'm going to check into them.

I can totally relate to your foot/ shoe issues. I struggle with all of those problems PLUS my job requires me to be on my feet for 5-8 hrs a day. Ouch!

I too have arthritis and have a difficult time finding a great shoe (other than a sneaker) that has enough support. It has really hindered my fashion game. What pair has the most support in the brand that you are recommending? I want to try them! Thank you for the niche advice. I learned the difference between shoe polish and shoe cream. I’ve been doing it all wrong!!
All three styles I have are similar! The arch support isn’t huge but there’s some! It depends on the arch of your foot too and mine’s not that high to begin with. I do prefer more fabric on top so the grandpa slipper is still my favorite.
