I think it sounds incredibly strong and cool to pursue this "being whole within myself" idea, and I have done that for many years. But as I have struggled to find friendships and relationships in the last 6 years, I've come to the conclusion that while I can force myself to feel okay on my own, I don't want to. I inherently want to share my life with others and be with someone that I can feel safe with. Maybe someone who has a strong family and support system can do without, but for me, I think it's what I need to fully heal and be happy.

I wonder if there could be some overlap of what is described here with what Daniel Mackler describes in his video on Parental Rescue Fantasy. Thank you for sharing, this soulmate concept is one that I occasionally find myself journaling about to try and make sense of.
