What I admire most about Yasmeen aside from her catwalk is how private she has remained all these years! She could have had it alllll yet she chose her peace and has maintained her humanity. What an icon! She never let the industry taint her and she was never with the gimmicks. She is officially the queen of moving in silence and remaining private ❤️ Watch Cristy Turlington, America’s favorite supermodel NEXT! ruclips.net/video/krdXigo1o_k/видео.html
Please add Miss Alek Wek to the video list. She was the first person who taught the beauty and grace of black women. I sadly didn't learn that from my mother.
Yes Karine we want a modeling industry documentary !
Yasmeen was seen everywhere in the 90s.

It’s a bloke
She is drop dead gorgeous. That’s why she was bullied for her looks. Those girls were just projecting their insecurities onto her.
It’s always like that! I hate it! We are always shutdown, due to their insecurities? I’m glad she retired!
@Tatum McKenzie the industry is cold.
strangely I’ve never witnessed that, where I’m from the pretty girls were always the most popular and treated with kindness
@@EC-yw5hg You,were fortunate and blessed.
It's usually a part of the brown girl experience. When you're a brown girl growing up in a society that values yt features, you're often bullied for your hair and dark skin.
No one can replace 90's supermodels...gorgeous lady👍
The models of today are nothing compared to the models is of the 90s

*Wait WHAT models of today? Them chicks on ig ain't real models!*

No filler, no botox just absolute natural physical perfection.
Unlike models today who are simply TOO done
The modeling agency that signed her also didn’t change anything about her look & that always happens to models
@@tirtunemdouq To be fair. They didn't have face altering filters back then. The filters ruined the heads of women and men.
She always did her make up herself. She never did let touch anyone her face. @@BrooklynBabeee
Ofc no botox 😂😂😂
I met Yasmeen at a club in London, she was wearing a long white dress that was touching the floor, and glowing under neon lights. She was with a French scoccer player friend but alone. I walked up to her, we spoke for about 15 minutes, she was just a normal person. She said thanks for talking to her etc. One of the nicest mentally balanced women I have met. Thanks for making this video.
Her body was made to model - she has that cartoon/drawing perfection body. Just a beautiful/bold face. The way she walked was like she was walking on water. 90s models was art. This is why people admire the 90s fashion model era. Totally respect that she left that industry. That era was also hard for people of color, you had to stand out a lot more n work harder. But she was one of a kind. I don’t think their has ever been replace of her. I can see why she got made fun off because they were jealous of her.
Fun fact: An Italian comic artist was so mesmerized by Yasmeen so he created a character named Jasmine inspired by her for his comic called Jonathan Steele.
There is literally no other model with her body.
@@ashashraa6579 that’s amazing!!! I don’t blame him to be inspired she was super mesmerizing.
Everything about 90s was an art Vintage never gets old ,that fashion, beauties, magazines, Movies, sports, music's.
@@ashashraa6579 Wow! Really? I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing that.
She is one of the most mysterious and sophisticated people I've ever seen in the industry, I wasn't surprised when I found out that she left early on .. it makes total sense with her personality.
Also getting bullied for your looks and then suddenly appreciated for the same looks you got rejected for, in my experience, gives you an entirely different perspective about beauty .. it becomes like a toll you love and despise at the same time and it takes a lot of awareness and maturity to find peace with who you are as a person + having a mixed background can give you a lot of internal conflict and test your principles and believes. It definitely wasn't easy for her yet she reminded true to herself and very inspiring.

Can we friends always ?
I don't care who the actual #1 supermodel is, Yasmeen is MY #1. She gives me so much sultry beauty and captures the imagination. It's intriguing that she was front and center and yet has managed to keep to herself separate and apart. Stellar and well-played!
She was built for modeling. Her beauty, walk, versatility. And I love how she got what she wanted from the industry and left on her terms to build the life she wanted. And she absolutely put her all into it in the short years she was a supermodel.
From an esoteric point of view I really want to know why she’s popped back up as a cultural phenomenon right now. She lives such a low key life and hasn’t done anything to maintain her relevancy… BUT SHE SO RELEVANT DECADES LATER!
The pandemic brought on this need for nostalgia. We are more fascinated with the 90s more than ever and 90s supermodels. She was one of the most beautiful and most popular of her time so she has a resurgence. She still avoids the lime light.
I think it began when people started comparing the nepotism baby models to 90s models, which introduced a lot of 90s gorgeous models to younger generation.
Oh her fans never let her go. She’s become popular again because of her body. Tiny waist but no BBL. Even amongst other supermodels, her body stands out.
Yasmeen’s photos are from thirty years ago and she’s still timeless.
It's more than that, it's divine aura that she has along with regal/royalty or possibly being a Goddess in a previous life. Also karma and divine intervention happened in her life and this is because I think she is an enlightened being. Remember she was told she was ugly for years as a child and teenager to the point of not having her photo taken for years because she thought she was ugly then karma/divine intervention made her one of the most beautiful and photographed women to balance that. This is very unusual occurrence.
Yasmeen has aged so beautifully in recent years. I love that she did her own makeup her own way. Glad she's living her best life with her hubby and babies.

90s models were the bomb. They reign supreme on a whole other level.
Totally!
Absolutely ❤ 💯
pakistani here, she had the desi “look” like you can see that classic old pakistani cinema look. love it!
I’m 41 and I remember when I was a teenager, the 90’s models were treated as goddesses. There were in all the magazines a there were a lot of fashion tvshows.
Because they really were
*And rightfully so. Unfortunately we won't see an era of GREAT models like THAT ever again*
@@godsavethequeen2798 💯💯💯
I was called ugly so much I believed them. I was a stunning young woman with beautiful skin and I had no idea. I hated getting photographed because I was so self conscious. I am now 50 years old and I look back and wonder how I let the mean girls and my siblings make me feel so ugly . I have a beautiful heart and that carried me through. The lesson is that if people are jealous of you they will say a do anything to make you feel worthless. It is those people that are ugly inside and so the outside is irrelevant. I am a strong confidant woman now
U r right n u r beautiful.Believe in yourself.Hugs

Yasmeen has something so special. It comes down to the warmth in her eyes, she is really captivating. To see her walking is seeing somebody free, at ease and in the moment, it's so enjoyable to watch her walk. She has grace, charm and presence. Add to that she has an enlightened pure aura that people feel and are drawn to. Out of all the models in the past she is the one people gravitate to. She didn't focus on her looks which is a good thing, her looks were only for her modelling jobs. She instead focused on being grounded, feeding her mind with knowledge and being a normal private person living a life like a non celebrity.
I did not expect you to talk about her but happy that you did. She and Naomi are the best catwalkers!!!!

AWESOME comment! Yes, I agree - catwalk goddess. No one quite like her!
I am a Canadian born Pakistani boy who grew up in the 80s and 90s. As a community we were all fairly new and saw our parents struggle to make it. We did our best to help them with the language and chores.
Going to school was tough because I was also bullied for the way I looked and it had an impact on how I saw myself then. This was especially difficult since I was coming to terms with my sexuality.
When I learned Yasmen was also raised in a Pakistani household, it was the first time I believed that we could be beautiful, as If we had to be exceptional. Sounds dumb now, but that was the first step in knowing that standards of beauty are as diverse as we are. Yasmen had the nerve and the confidence to strut and that built me up just a little too. Now being Pakistani is no big deal because we are grown and increasingly represented in the media, but I can’t underestimate how it wasn’t the case then. We had to learn to live in a world we were not seen and that meant not beautiful. Yasmen was an unconscious pioneer for some of us. Thanks girl
Beautiful, and well written...
You didn’t mentioned her German mother. No wonder why she looks the way she looks. She is half white/ Caucasian☝🏻✌🏻
Stop crying she's half German so only 50% Pakistani but 100% Westerner 😂
she's also 50% Pakistani and ONLY half german. she is also closer to her Pakistani side, so read up. anyway chill
@@melb.1906But she looks more Pakistani than white. That’s probably why she was bullied
While her physical beauty was outstanding, her words stood out to me. She's an extremely wise and smart person. The beauty from within is indeed there, abundantly, in her spirit.
Thank you for this homage to Yasmeen. She exudes class, effervescence, clarity, inner beauty and poise. She is one of the few models/women who were never full of themselves, despite their obvious physical beauty. I ran into her in the mid 90's walking in Soho. We were walking towards each other. I did not fan girl at that moment (believe me, I wanted to lol) She was walking with someone, who possibly was her future husband or agent. I just side stepped into traffic to let her glide past me. She was exquisite wearing white jeans and a simple top. The fact that she knew when to exit on her own terms and pursue a family and other experiences outside of fashion is admirable. She is now on IG, and everyone went bananas. LOL. She's left such an elegant legacy!!!! Thank you Karine!!!

It's crazy how few people remember her. She was one of the 90s amazons. Every show Cindy or Naomi walked she was there too. Frankly I think her walk was often better than theirs. But I don't think she cared about being remembered
No I agree and I love Naomi ! But Yasmeen’s walk was such a phenomenon for me personally . It definitely was better , she taught me how to walk as a model when I watched her all the time when is younger along with Naomi. I definitely want to have that impact of resurgence and timelessness decades later
Even Naomi said that Yasmeen had the best walk.

The models in the 90s looked so healthy and had personality in their walks and attitude. I miss this era.
She is the blueprint for 90’s makeup ❤
Yasmeen has always been my favorite model. The era of the supermodel. She was always in publications and campaigns but wasn't as promoted as Cindy, Linda, Naomi, Christie, Karen, Stephanie. She was certainly there and very prominent, but not always in that grouping. That walk was everything!! That was my favorite era of fashion and modeling.
Naomi wasn’t as promoted as you think. If it wasn’t for her white model colleagues she wouldn’t have walked as many shows.
@@imxel2193 Of course they helped her they are her friends. Naomi still would have been successful even if she didn't have that support
But that’s because she didn’t want to…

Oh yes!!!!
I am also 5'11" and was super-skinny as a teenager and it was Yasmeen who made me feel good about myself. 😊 I'm so glad she found happiness in her own terms and in her own time. Thanks for sharing her story with us. ❤
90's fashion models were something else. So magical ✨
I kinda miss these natural beauties. Those model faces back then who could tell a story by their face, who didn't need heavy make up and where original without surgeries
Models like Tyra banks got nose jobs. She’s wearing a full face of makeup in most clips of her in this video. The 90s is when over the top glamour started
Now everyone looks stretched out and taught with NO character!
Models still look this way 😒
The black culture never really fit this mold I’m glad to see different body shapes even if it’s fake being a naturally thick curved body
Honestly.
She is covered jn heavy make up. Stop lying.

Hi! She grew up in Montreal. My mom used to see her at the mosque and said that she was a quiet child. I recall that she was featured in the commercial for the Valentino Vendetta fragrance which was banned in Italy. I asked to have that fragrance because it was so sensual. It was my first big fragrance at the age of 16!
She inspired me to do modeling! Her photos and runway walkkkkk were phenomenal.
Her bone structures gorgeous and her neck is so long. Her walk is graceful yet assertive I love it!
She's absolutely stunning and seems so down to earth and unaffected by her fane and fortune. I completely respect her decision to leave the industry. Honestly, her situation feels like the dream as she did what she had to and then left for a family, thats amazing. She's an icon and your right her walk is perfection ❤️
Yes, Yasmeen has the best walk, as does Naomi! Christy Turlington is another 90s model like Yasmeen and Cindy Crawford that left the industry and went on to do other things. She went back to school and got a master's in public health and runs a charity that supports maternal health. The cool thing is that they all seem to be friends.
Oh! She was everything! Her walk, ah! Can't choose between those 2. Naomy's walk takes your breath away whereas Yas walk hypnotizes
At least to me. The way she sways her hips, is something else.
I have never heard of her before, but wow she's absolutely STUNNING!! A true beauty for sure!😍😍

@@KarineAlourde I think Yasmeen is around 5' 10" or 5' 10.5". Girls like Claudia Schiffer, Tatjana Patitz, Shalom Harlow, Eva Herzigova, and Nadja Auermann are 5' 11", and it showed in the pictures when she was side by side with them that she was slightly shorter.
@@KarineAlourde By the way, can you do one on Karen Mulder? She also basically decided to leave the fashion industry all together. I know in the 90s, it was all about Claudia Schiffer being the barbie, but in retrospect, Karen Mulder really exemplified that look, plus she was a superior runway model. She so naturally oozed the sex appeal of icons like Veronica Lake and Rita Hayworth. Sad that she had to be silenced by the French media for exposing her sexual abusers, which is very common in the modeling industry. They made her seem like she was mentally unstable and going utterly crazy. In today's day, with the MeToo movement and more knowledge of mental disorders, we can only sympathize with her. She was definitely one of the early shot callers.
She had beautiful skin and was really gracefully too❤️

I've admired Yasmeen since the 90's growing up. She was and still is my style icon. I can relate to Yasmeen on so many levels from being bullied because of racism and being beautiful. No fame or fortune in the world is worth losing your soul to anything. True beauty IS the soul with substance. Yasmeen did the right thing by walking away from the self absorbed modeling industry to find her true purpose. I always love checking your videos out. You do these celebs justice while also giving your honest opinions. Great job, Karine!
I believe that Yasmeen would have fit in with the supermodels of her day, but there is something about her that commands respect even more than the others, and she choose to protect her privacy.
