  • Dive into the heart-pounding world of rugby with us as we explore the extraordinary journey of William Ryder, the shining star of Fiji rugby! 🇫🇯 Known for his dazzling skills, incredible speed, and unwavering determination, William Ryder has left an indelible mark on the rugby landscape.
William Ryder, born on June 6, 1982, emerged as a formidable force in the world of rugby. Standing at 1.75 meters tall and weighing 75 kilograms, he possessed a blend of skill, speed, and determination that left a lasting mark on the sport.
His rugby journey took him to France, where he showcased his talent between 2011 and 2015. During this time, he had the privilege of competing in the prestigious Top 14 and Pro D2 leagues while representing Mont-De-Marsan.
One of the defining moments of William Ryder's career came in 2005 when he was part of the Fiji 7's team that claimed victory in the Sevens World Cup. His remarkable contribution to the team was further highlighted by his impressive tally of close to 1,000 points scored while playing for Fiji 7's, with a significant portion of those points coming from his 105 tries.
Ryder's name was synonymous with try-scoring excellence, and he held the title of one of the top try-scorers in the World Sevens Series for a significant period, a feat that has only recently been surpassed. To date, he has amassed an astonishing 752 points, leaving a trail of defenders in his wake.
In addition to his Sevens World Cup triumph in 2005, William Ryder achieved further international acclaim by winning a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, where rugby sevens was a featured event. His exceptional skills and try-scoring prowess were particularly evident during the 2008 Sevens season with Fiji, where he claimed the title of the best try-scorer.
William Ryder's partnership with the legendary Waisale Serevi was iconic and often referred to as "The Sorcerer" (Serevi) and his "Apprentice" (Ryder). Together, they orchestrated plays that left fans in awe, and their combined prowess on the rugby field remains etched in the annals of rugby history.
