“Jerry Collins of Barnstaple and New Zealand.” When that wonderful, wonderful rugby-man turned out for the Barbarians wearing the socks of Barnstaple RFC; fifth tier of the RFU; second team…. Just because he fancied a game. You’ll know the story but in case you don’t, Google it. Jerry made a lot of new friends that day. Thinking about it now, I’m smiling but I’m very sad at the same time. Best wishes.
0:29 reminds me of the time i flattened a 10... So my local team wasn't the best, we would win here and there... We ended up playing against one of the best rugby schools in Scotland, during our game they just kept passing to the 10 and he'd score almost every time... So I'm a tighthead... And as soon as that wee 9 grabbed the ball from the ruck i ran full speed at the 10 and the instant the ball touched his hands he was on the fuckin ground and the ball was rolling, i get up, grab the ball, make about 20 meters before 2 or 3 of them took me down, offload to my flanker, don't know what happened after that but by the time i got to my feet we we're at their 5 meter line and we scored. Our only try that game and the last time their 10 ran with the ball that game.
Fukin Legend! im a halfback-first five from NZ & pictured all of that. Nice brother! Ive only had a few but this little fuk from Otago boys was opposite 1 day at the oval & id been looking to get him because he was sharp. tight game anyway & late in the game they get a penalty & silly bolllocks taps it quick looking to get a late win? He never looked my way just at his far side winger unmarked, running across field like hes about to,then when he winds his pass up i crushed him in the ribs & he spilled the ball! While gasping for air! I put the ball in the insuing scrum & kicked the c#*t out! Win to Kings,Up The Lions!
3:56 “Farrell one of the best defenders out there” Yeah, well, when you use stiff arms or don’t wrap in some of your tackles it’ll have that kind of effect.
Great tackles for rugby. Most of them are illegal in American football. Most of these would be illegal blocks, spearing, clipping and horsecollar tackles. FYI, any tackle that leads with the head, grabs the collar or legs or anywhere above the shoulders would be illegal in football. Still, its good for contact sport tackles.
As kids when you start playing rugby you get taught go waist height and cheek to cheek. I don't understand why some players (the ones that gets handed off like ragdolls that try the hugging technique) not go waist height?
When I played high school football I caught a punt thinking I was going to mix the first guy. NO! Big mistake I should have made a fair catch call 😂 he basically did a crack back hit on me I had to sit out 2quarters lol
Almost ever tackle would be red card in 2024, games gone soft, very sad, even in low level club footy you will get penalty for almost ever one of these tackles
I LOVE to play or watch rugby, but this is mostly just a compilation of high tackles and complete unawareness of the ball carrier. Both thing shouldn’t be praised or glorified in my opinion. ps: why the F would Farrell try to tackle Genge by jumping in the air???????? Sometimes I don’t get how so many players make such rookie mistakes on pro level. 😭
ah yeah, the good old days where men were men, and they just carried on playing after getting concussed, eventually leading to early onset dementia. Those were real men, thank God they were aloud to tackle
See, a good tackle is so much better than a cheap hit! Nice compilation and number 1 was the perfect choice.
Amazing to see how many tackles was still head on with no red cards. I am glad to see the game has changed to make it safer for players

Number 19 was a try saving tackle. Kudos on that play.
I believe, the biggest and most brutal Rugby hits occupied before there were good cameras or any cameras at all......
Chabal on Masoe? Lewsey on Rogers? Both worthy of a top ten spot?
the guy in white 0:59 is an absolute freight train
Rene Ranger on Nick White? That one always makes me smile

My favorite part of the game..the big hit...its why i love this game

Courtney lawes is the king of origami... that man can fold anything.
haha yeah Lawes' completely legal tackling annoyed the French players so much that they were protesting to the ref!

Yeah, well, when you use stiff arms or don’t wrap in some of your tackles it’ll have that kind of effect.
Lima's tackle on Hougaard was a car crash. Number 1 for me!
Big tackle 1:38
this gotta be the most dangerous sport out there. No headgear, no body guards that is nuts.
Massive hits. Lewsey the best of all time
best tackle ever is not on here- perhaps a tad biased- Joggie Jansens tackle on Cottrel- solid regulation tackle
Toulangi against L armours is a red it’s clear shoulder to head contact
this sport is brutal
nah bro chess>
Nowadays half of the tackles in this video would deserve a red card!
Yeah what
Rightly so, some were dangerously high
@@AA-hg5fk alot actually was the whip lash...

Motu Matu'u against the Rebels? 2 kills in 2 minutes

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
Most of these are players being blind sided so of course the hit looks dominant. Still makes for great viewing...
Daily reminder of why I don’t play rugby
As kids when you start playing rugby you get taught go waist height and cheek to cheek. I don't understand why some players (the ones that gets handed off like ragdolls that try the hugging technique) not go waist height?
Owen farrel every tackle
the problem will always be "danger to the tackler" when tackling like we were taught as kids
Damn tuilagis have 7 on here😮
The Chiropractor making house calls lol
Never seen Ashston tackle anyone before
Nothing beats josh lewsey on Matt Rogers…nothing
The fact he had to have his surfboard remodeled because he could lie flat on it afterwards...what a shot.
Was expecting to see Jonah Lomu steamrolling the English backline.....great shots though
Butch James on Mortlock?
Lomu tackle was a direct shoulder right on the chin lol
Duan Vermeulen on James Slipper 🚜

And when Chabal destroyed Masoe
People say “rugby is worse then football” there about the same because football has bigger hits but more protection, and rugby has more rules
Yeah, that's because you guys hit them with helmets and pads, us in rugby we hit them with our bare body.

to be fair most big hits are mismatches or hospital passes/kicks!
No shock that top 10 is mostly South African rugby
You 2 of the top 10?
Why does it seem like no one is juking or trying not to get hit but actually running through opposing team..
Lol because its not American football
They're big hits but a lot are also red cards.
Clark Sarah Walker Jennifer Brown Angela
Interesting that over half of these hits would not be allowed in 2023 and would result in yellow or red.
