  • I'll say it. In terms of skill, Rupeni Caucaunibuca is one of the 5 greatest wings of all time. He had everything - tremendouse speed, a great step and immense power.
He is an enigma and I'm sure, looking back at his career, he has some regrets, but for a brief period of time, he was without a doubt the most lethal finisher on the planet.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I watched him play for the Auckland Blues in trial match in Carrara Stadium - Gold Coast - against a hyped up Queensland Reds team……he was marking Wendell Sailor [ex Brisbane Bronco and Australia Rugby League Player] who was making his debut for the Reds…..CauCau was making his debut for the Blues……..the very first ball he gets touch right down behind his tryline - he steps Wendall and blitzed the whole Reds team for a 90 meter try…..it was so fast everyone was in shock at his speed…………..he did it again - the second time he got the ball he just ran right around Wendall like he was a turtle - and scored another 90 meter try…….The whole crowd was in disbelief….he blitzed Wendall the whole half……they took him off coz the Blues had a massive lead by then……poor Wendall hahaha…..

He was an incredible human. He was EXTREMELY!! fast and very explosive, his ACCELERATION!! was second to none, he had supreme balance on both his right and left legs could step on both, he had an unreal ability to defend himself while running alone the sideline he would use his hips to throw his opponents out, his kick and catch skills were unbelievable he was the most complete athlete in rugby and 7s history.

ASK any of the blues boys, Rupeni didn't even have to come to to training or take part, they let him kick the ball around whilst everyone trained, and he said why you can't try someone how to score on every play that was his goal every time he touched the ball. That's the difference. RAW.... trained or untrained... magnificent. And he did this all during the GOLDEN AGE of rugby.
